I support the idea of the omen being a sign of the crucible seeping it’s way back into humanity. Morgott having a crucible like tail and Mohg having feathered wings really backs this up. It’s like more of the crucible was able to manifest itself in them because of their strength and demigod status

    • @TheHonoredMadman
      @TheHonoredMadman  2 года назад +5

seems to be the most likely possibility and theres also godfrey who has to have some association with the crucible as the crucible knights serve him or used to serve him, and him being mohg and morgotts dad could also be why the crucible was able to return through them

Whats crazy is that they went from being considered almost divine for their unique growths to being shunned and punished for it. That has to suck

Considering how the Omens are treated by the Golden Order, the omens found at the altus plateau seem to have ambushed all the carriages ( which are basically caskets for champions) to ensure that the champions don’t get an erdtree burial.
This is also why Dungeater inflicts the seedbed curse, to prevent his victims’ souls from being hewn into the Erdtree

i think so too, it wouldnt make much sense for them to loyal to the veiled monarch as they wouldnt know he was an omen and likely wouldnt care even if they did, i think they escaped their enslavement and are indeed ambushing due to how they were treated by the golden order and likely the public as a whole.

@@TheHonoredMadman Morgott’s “love” for the Golden Order is an exception, he seems to be the obedient son and understood what he was suffering for. Had he been a king of the Omen specifically, we would’ve found them roaming freely on the streets of Leyndell. He’s known as Morgott, the Grace Given because he maintains the Golden Order at all times, even if at the expense of the people of his kind.

My question is, why would someone be BORN with a curse in the lands between? Aside from dung eater, who could influence the rebirth of an individual, why would anyone have the curse in their (initial) birth? The curses and oaths seem to be a tangible power in elden ring, like the curse on our blacksmith to make a godslaying weapon (maybe he is the one to make the black knives, thus is the reason for the curse? I digress), the curse on Gurranq to eat the deathroot for the times eternal for slack in keeping the rune of death safe.
My theory is two-sided, but it seems pretty cohesive to me. First of all, Morgott, for some reason, is never mentioned to be a direct son of Godfrey. He is of a golden lineage, but not the son of his (correct me if I'm wrong). As far as we know, this leaves him as a son of Godwyn the Golden, or at the very least his eldest offspring, being a direct heir to the throne after Godfrey went away and Godwyn died. Why would Morgott have a curse since birth, and why is his name so different from the others in golden lineage? It could be because of the curse, but it still starts with M, as of the Marika's and Radagon's offspring. But not of Godfrey.
This leads me to my theory. I think that the omen are a product of incestual relationship and represent the real reprocussions of it in real world. It makes sense in the elden ring's lore just as much. First of all, omen almost always seem to be connected with nobility, who might do it as a measure to keep the bloodline clean, as they did in the real world. The Crucible, that is a power that blended many things together and is 100% is a source of the horns, said to have been one contiguous mix of all life. Incest is a mix of blood of itself within itself, and creating a child of said mix in the process. Thus the Crucible manifest itself through the products of incest, making them into grotesquely shaped creatures, that bear horns on their body. As of the ethics of it, we don't know whether or not such act was or is shunned in the Lands Between, it is never mentioned in the game, so it might as well be something of the ordinary, given that everyone basically lives forever in here.
As for the Morgott, I suppose he is a son of Marika and Godwyn, being not the son of Godfrey but of golden lineage, his grandson. If there is a mention of him being an actual son of Godfrey, then my theory falls apart quite a bit, but as far as I know, that is not the case. Being a product of incest, and a royal one above that, he has grown not only horns but also a huge tail, that no other omen has. As for the timeline, Godfrey seems to be aquainted with Morgott, saying him last words before we fight the First Lord, thus he was born and probably lived for a long time in the Godfrey's reign, before he was driven out as Tarnished, before Radagon came back to the capital to make babies, before the Shattering too, leaving only either Godfrey and Godwyn as his possible parents.
I know it' a bit crazy and out of the left field, but this is George R. R. Martin and fantasy setting, we're talking about.

Really cool theory but Morgott and Mohg are in fact confirmed to be the twin sons of Godfrey and Marika. I do think you’re onto something in terms of the crucible though. Morgott and Mohg are the only 2 omen to have some sort of inhuman feature (morgotts tail, Mohgs wings) both of which can be associated w the crucible. So there’s definitely a connection there, hopefully we get some clarification in the future

the dung eater talks about infecting people and when they have children they are cursed, sounds like the omen curse which makes me wonder if hes the seed of the omen curse. plus his armor looks like cut off horns from omens, kind of weird too me.

I also believe that is his goal. To punish those who tortured and defiled the omen-kind

  • @magnumx635

I have a theory about the omen and the dung eater, although it might be 100% wrong since i am only working off memory of things I have read and heard and haven't done a full lore dive to check against.
I feel like I remember seeing some reference somewhere to the curse the dung eater is spreading being in some way tied to an outer god, combined with the references we can see in the root resin that the Erdtree may have been a different tree before the Elden Beast and the crucible references to horns being regarded as holy it kind of suggests something to me. Maybe the world as it was before the greater will, the primal crucible was already the work of another outer god, but was overwritten by the greater will. The horned omen who were the holy chosen by the old ways would be shunned as monsters by the new regime, an attempt to bury the influence of this older god. I also remember some reference to how Marika's removal of the rune of death changed how death worked in the lands between, that the Erdtree burial that gives us the spirit ashes is the result of this. That suggests to me that these spirits stopped going to wherever they went before, which may have been in line with this older god's plan. I kind of see the dung eater as being comparable to shabriri, a man who may be serving the will of a greater force. In this case the dung eater wears armor of the mutilated omens and defiles corpses to deny their souls to the Erdtree, a sort of avatar of the old ways trying to spread a curse to return death to how it used to be in the age before the golden order.
Idk, I probably have some of that wrong but that is kind of how I have made sense of things. idk if you have any thoughts or corrections on that theory, I would love to hear them. Your channel may be small but your lore videos are solid, keep it up!

most of mine are off meomry and the item descriptions screenshots i take, ive only done two play throughs and i missed some things, i honestly shoudve been taking notes lol, and yeah dude i think you might be onto something with this because, the crucible of life had a greattree i believe, and i dont know if its confirmed or anthing but i think the great tree was kinda like the deku tree from legend of zelda in that it was alive and sentient, and like the the great deku tree i think it couldve been destroyed by the erdtree, because during the crucible there were several outer gods vying for dominance, the nox revere a lord of the night, the crucible knights revered the great tree, the pests had their rot god, shabriri and the maniacs had the frenzzied flame, and the sorcerers had their moon and stars, atleast thats my current interpretation of that bit of lore, but to go back to the original point i agree that its possible that this great tree, if it was an outer god, could be responsible for the "curse" of the omen and its seen as a bad omen now only because the greater will is in power now and it doesnt want anyone to know anything about the age before the erdtree

It wants everything to return to the source All differences, choices, suffering, existence. Burned away by the yellow flame until all is the same. Does the existential pain of a innocent child exposed to the horrors of life justify any existence? This extremely difficult question has been posed all throughout human life. The answer to the frenzied flame follower, is simple.

    • @gennymanun4881

Could be I think it was simply part of Marika’s plan to send them away to dethrone the greater will with the tarnished or to start fresh after the war period Lyndell was under. There’s still so much we don’t know however I feel like if that’s what led to him getting kicked out he most likely would have taken them with him because we see him pity Morgott at the doors of the Erdtree right before meeting Marika/Radagon. That and the fact they hid them underground to prevent the golden order from being “tarnished” by their accursed blood rather than killed at birth means that, at least to some degree Marika and Godfrey loved the twins they just folded to peer pressure from the public or the greater will itself. It’s very fun to speculate on all these things!

It's way better than most unoriginal jump scare post millenial horror films. Suspenseful, well acted, written and directed. Give it another try sometime. I think the original Omen trilogy is one of the most underrated horror series out there. But I understand if you just don't like horror movies. Personally, I really get into theological and demonology based horror films.
