I thought it had an Ulster twang, as in "any wee thing". The hymn was written by John Jacob Niles from a fragment he heard sung in the Appalachians, which is where the Scots-Irish went in America, so I think we can claim a connection 😉

We sang it at Christmas concerts and I have continued to sing it and adore it now, for 5 decades. You have blessed me beyond words.......by complete accident.....I am grieving my husband's death. I have not ears for today's music whatsoever, and have LONGED for UNIQUE songs .................your emanation is pure genius. THANK YOU for the work and effort that brought this to LIFE...........It should be appreciated by every possible peoples without limitations to season or traditions. All of my grandparents were born in Russia. OMSK was my mother's birthplace. They emigrated when she was one year, in 1925, leaving many family members behind, to GOD KNOWS what horrors. He's Russian American I believe. Fun fact. Gaelic and Russian are actually related languages. Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic developed over the last 2000 years or so but the Slavic languages can trace their roots to the same area as the old Celts migrated down from.

I'm not certain where you filmed this, but it's so reminicent of where I grew up. It looks just like the salt flats outside of Salt Lake CIty. I discovered him through Home Free, specifically when Chris Rupp worked with him shortly after leaving Home Free. I've always love how Russian sounds and, I think I'll learn it some day but, it very simply works for his cover of Wayfaring Stranger. Those verses in Russian definitely add some flair to it.

I love your music Mr. Khorolskiy! I don't speak Russian but i love hearing Jesus praised in any language because it's so beautiful❤! Your music is so epic and some of it reminds me of the dwarves singing in the Hobbit movies❤ but this is so much better because i can praise Jesus and let my imagination soar at the same time 😂
