It amazes me how many deaf and blind drivers there are on the roads. Well done, mate.
And there are some superstars who use their mirrors and make proactive decisions to give the ambulance right of way. What is it with Fiat 500 drivers? "Let me just get past this bus and then you can have right of way".
Full credit to a calm and careful driver, only using siren when effective. Nearly all motorists were aware and pulled clear (most) and steady safe progress made. As an aside, its also nice to see so many College students walking home along the way. Not the helicopter parent zone. Thanks for the nice trip.
Well done to that driver👍👍
Brilliant bit of driving by the ambulance driver, very professional. Well done
They live among us, can't believe the infeltiles that drive our roads. Big thank you to our emergency service drivers. Big ❤
This isn’t a real paramedic doing this. Omg, do you really think that? You’re as deluded as these idiots. Paramedics don’t keep turning the sirens on and off to gain money. What are you thinking?
Total respect to the ambulance driver. What some of the other road drivers where doing was shocking.
Thx for sharing. Good training me as I’ll be starting my AAP course soon. Great driving. Don’t know how you keep your cool with so many bad drivers on the roads. Is that part of the blue light training?
From someone who was blue lighted not to long ago, Cardiac arrest, Thank you for your service
Congrats on un-dying
@@chrisbaker8014 lmao
age 86 and I found this very emotional. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DRIVER, Thank you for sharing..
That was unbelievable how many idiots got in the way ,some people have no idea how to react to emergency vehicles.WELL DONE and thank you for all the people you save through your driving skill .
I dont think there are many drivers who would deliberately obstruct emergency vehicles , but there are alot who panic or who just dont have any forward vision at all .There was one particular junction where a red car had had plenty of time to stop , but because their window was up and they probably had their radio on they coulodnt hear and didnt have any situational awareness of what was happening around them . They may well have had a green traffic light in their favour , but they still need to be looking around.
Amazing driving skills and observations ambulance drivers do not get enough credit for what they do. Also goes to show how many cretins there are who are deaf, dumb and blind!!! my congratulations to the driver and his crew.
Beautiful driving. God help the person on board.
Hugely impressed by the skill and patience of this ambulance driver, at least for 99.9% of the time. I was almost tearing my hair out over some of the other road users who seemed oblivious to what was behind them.
A1 Ambulance Driver first class.
Them Ambulance driver are worth there weight in GOLD and MORE thank you and REPECT❤❤❤❤😊😊👍👍👍
35:40 lol This vid brought back many memories! Very nicely done! GGs
Awesome driving in a stressful situation but a shame 10 percent on the road make it harder. If left to me i would revoke their licences. Hoping the patient makes a full recovery.
Great driving and staying calm at times when some stupid drivers got in the way .
One of the best ambulance videos I have seen, love the long videos. Some of the drivers were shocking bad like that Martin J Larkin but the majority were very good. Good job
MY brother does the same ,,total respect
Another great run 👍 i'll add you to my homepage so hopefully you get some new subs who enjoy blue light content.
99% got it right and pulled over
Real good Run showing loads of Skill! Reminds me of the Military Ambulance I drove in Germany.
Never seen so many drivers have so much trouble , getting out of your way !
A few slow responding but on the whole it was a good journey. Good driving there and to see a full uncut trip was cool. Hope to see more like this Ade 👍
Good run , well done..😄
Great blue light run, frustrating but good work 👍
Sounds inherently like a SECAmb Sprinter. Was frontline for a couple of years before joining a different service. Miss driving those Mercs, they're lovely. Nice progress whilst remaining smooth. Look forward to more!
3:44 I used to work at that school back in 2016. Seems weird seeing all the roads I used to drive on from a different perspective. Great drive as someone who's now in the emergency services myself.
Congratulations sir you have passed your driving assessment . Well done
I love hearing those blue lights sounds good and when coming i like it when other drivers have to move let you through you do great work as where needed
too many swear words are in my head. Bloody good drive bloke!
Well done great job keep it up don't give up
Good job guys. A bit of nostalgia maybe? ... I was doing the job in the 1960s. They were just building, then opening, the M1 motorway through the county. No central barrier then but very light traffic. On the other hand, anyone could drive as fast as they liked. No breathalysers. We had a bell on the front but gradually sirens came in - so for a while we had both! Interesting. We were paid an extra nine shillings a week IF - IF we had a St. John or Red Cross first aid certificate! I think we did a pretty good job. I saved a few lives and delivered a few babies and everything in between. Happily, I became involved in the early "ambulance aid" training and training schools which eventually led to the paramedics. But, sadly in a way, I left for a different career before I had to wear green. I hope your "passenger" is well. Cheers.
Fantastic driver such stressful work day in day out. Mainly because the country of Kent does not have a major trauma hospital.
Drivers would rather hold up a life saving ambulance than get out of the way. Respect to you. Xxx
Excellent..
More POV like this would be great. Love the sound of that sprinter and great angle 👍
I love watching them, subscribed to a few channels that post them, one guy posts them pretty much everyday if you search blue light runs.
After 42 years in the emergency services (fire and ambulance) I have found that it you keep the siren on people can hear you coming and make a plan to get out of your way, if you turn the siren on if you are 50 m behind then they panic and do stupid things. Of course if there is no traffic it doesn't need to be on.
Wow, twice the video speed gives a hair rasing experience...well done guys and thank you for your service.
That was tiring just watching. Considering the time of day it looks like you were exceptionally lucky with traffic. Hope all the effort had a good outcome and that the journey back was less stressful.
If the road network was designed better than wouldn’t have this issues. London for example instead of making the roads wider to accommodate more traffic let’s make it smaller, slower with 20 mph on main routes, 24 hr bus lanes so vehicles can’t use them to get out the way of emergency vehicles without risking a fine. Protected cycle lanes with bollards so vehicles can’t move left and let emergency vehicles through. The uk has the stupidest network in the developed world with the among vehicles on our roads
Great driving. I am currently working towards my Inststute of Advanced Motorists car test and it is very interesting, both to see how you drive and for me to watch the approaching hazards and how you deal with them. There are some right idiots out there to watch out for. I also like that you respect the drivers in front by turning the sirens off when held up and road conditions make progress impossible.
Yes , the IAM test certainly raises your awareness levels . Some people cant understand why emergency vehicles knock the sirens off in these situations , but as you say it is to stop drivers in front panicking when they physically cant move out of the way . ( Such as driving through a red light , very well intentioned , but let the emergency vehicles driver do the work such as going onto the opposite side of the road ).
Be aware that the Institute will fail you if your spelling is not 100%. ☺️
IDK how ambulance in other countries but in my country cars are so hard. I broke my leg and i was jumping inside.
Very nice ❤❤
Thanks 🤗
Hi, interesting video. I work on ambulance in Stockholm, Sweden, and when doing a bluelight run we never turn of the sirens in case some people walking over the street does not see us, aor a bicycle rider. If only lights are on it is not considered a bluelight run, and we never stop at red lights, just keep on "pushing" 😀
In the UK we have cameras on top of some of our traffic lights in order to catch red light runners.
The emergency services are trained to not force a driver to cross a red-light as that may lead to an accident that would then see the driver prosecuted and the emergency vehicle driver quite possibly suspended or dismissed.
@@ramblingman8992 Yes, different countries, different rules 😀 Stay safe Bluelight Brother!
Driving very carefully and smooth, I wonder if there was a spinal injury patient on board?
Prize plonka award goes to..... 1:03:20
Nicely done. Can't help wondering why the patient wasn't airlifted. That's a long drive.
You can see blue lights from 150mtr away , so WHY does it take so many drivers to GET OUT OF THE WAY ? - at the last minute .
That's a notorious spot college road I live in Thanet and that's like Westwood cross at time
Not knowing UK geography, I had to look on Google Earth. That's a 75 mile/120km trip. In Australia we would've used an ambulance service helicopter to transfer the patient. As a paramedic, I'm curious as to the presenting problem with the patient that deems an urgent transfer appropriate. In rural areas we'll do urgent transfers of a similar distance by road, but generally they're on freeways of highways, so can do a constant 120km/h (75mph) speed. I really take my hat off to British paramedics. Australian streets are generally twice as wide as UK ones; your roads make it harder to pass traffic. Mercedes Sprinters 319s make up the bulk of our fleet.
Lots of areas have Emergency Departments , but there are about 20 emergency Departments at certain hospitals across England that have Major Trauma Departments . These can mean an ambulance either transferring a patient who was initially taken to a local hospital for stabilisation or even taken straight to the hospital with the Major Trauma Centre , even if it is a long way away . I think London has four of these , University College in North West London , The Royal London in East London , Kings College in South East London and St.Georges at Tooting in South West London . As well as covereing those specific parts of the capital they also cover the surrounding counties , hence Kent is seved mainly by this hospital , Kings College .
I live near the start point of this transfer and there is actually a helo serving the East Kent area but as they've run down the available services in the hospital there's more demand for helo services. Anything much more than a cut and you end up in London or Ashford now. It doesn't help that the roads are so congested with parked cars as well as mobile traffic.
@@gm7836 Navigating an ambulance through UK streets looks so challenging. Even where newer housing estates are built in England the roads look narrow.
Wow, didnt think hospitals did this anymore as in the northeast where i am, you would think it was local health service not national health service. I live 14 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne and if i visit the RVI if my health conditions take a bad turn while out shopping, they say your quite far from home. My neighbour needed a specialist eye dicitor after scratching his eye at work when a nail fell on him,, but instead of getting a appointment at Newcastle RVI or Sunderland eye infirmary, he was sent to peterlee hospital which is 1 hour and 20ish minutes away on the buses and was told he cannot goto tyne and wear because were in county durham, yet they are 35 and 45 minutes away, and take 1 bus not 3 buses
I thought London would have been a nightmare . they where very courteous in comparison .
Some narrow roads😮
Lucky i wasn't school time then it would of been chaos like here on the Margate road lol
Excellent run. I approve wholeheartedly of your lack of siren use, limiting it solely to where it is of use as a warning and appropriate tone for the situation. Remarkably little swearing too!
The last few minutes does demonstrate why I almost never use bus lanes to make progress, far too easy to become trapped.
It is a difficult one and different instructors will give you a different answer . I have been there and done that getting trapped in a bus lane after making good progress whilst using it . The other issue now is that stupidly helpful drivers may well get a fine for driving in a bus lane , even if they are helping you get to where you need to quickly . Common sense from the authorities seems to take second place to income generation .!
Watching this left me quite angry at several drivers responses - I'm not sure how many times I yelled at the TV 'GET OUT OF THE WAY..."
Well done for your (mostly) calm response - and thank you for the video you have done answering some comments - that made a lot more sense why you did certain things.
Yes, totally agree with most of the comments. Drivers today have their music on so loud as they can’t hear the sirens, and they don’t look in their mirrors enough.
Having your vehicle’s music on so loud that you can’t hear an emergency vehicle’s siren is actually an offence in the U.K.
@@YelpBullhornany decent car nowadays with music playing will block out the noise of the sirens, I’ve experienced it many times myself and I don’t play music loud at all. I do constantly check my mirrors though so it’s never been an issue
Unfortunately since they made the decision to fine those drivers who contravene the traffic rules, like easing through a red light, moving into a bus lane etc, to let emergency vehicles through, this is what you get. Stuck in traffic.
Spot on mate ..fvckd if we do fvckd if we don't 🇬🇧👍
GO NHS !
So proud of what you have done and what you are doing now but you need a hair as watching your comments reply now hehehe
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks bud, Yep I most certainly need a haircut at the moment 😂🤣🤦🏼♂️
Ps get my videos shared 😉😂
What’s happening with this policy? I have noticed the videos constantly get unlisted then made public again, very confusing.
What engines in that merc? Sounds like a V6, it’s obviously designed specifically for long distance jobs.
Do some of these drivers ever use their mirrors? Or even have eyes or ears?
It amazes me the British drivers are generally so helpful in creating a clear pathway ... you must have filmed this in Janaury as the road (A28) in Birchington is (at the time of my writing, 21 February) closed at the square. I also remember those roadworks traffic lights, if you go though the village centre you can get back to the main road to avoid the congestion. Once in London I see the ongoing plague of vandalism of London's road network with 20mph restictions has infested your route, with money grabbing cameras to ensure the plebs obedience. Shame that your journey was delayed by cars being unable to pull over because of bollards protecting the unused cycle sections of road. I often see ambulances going London bound, good to see the rest of the journey from the comfort of my home!
Something you don’t after see is a blue light run
Loads on RUclips
Nice driving and good knowledge of London roads
Wow this was a new video for me, Could someone please tell me what POV stands for. That was some amazing driving and awesome patience, 🙏👏
Point of view
1:03:26, 1:10:32 what is it with nissan juke drivers?
15:41 Must pass those trucks, ambulance behind me, Don't Care, Must... Pass... Those... trucks!
OOh - there's a gap....BUT it's behind another truck - OK - after this truck I'll pull in (...maybe)
Ive lost count of the number of times a line of vehicles pulls over to let the emergency vehicle pass by , but the car at the back uses it as an opportunity to overtake without thinking ' why is everyone pulling over ? '
Just out of interest, why did you go through Birchington instead of out towards manston past the airport?
Typical car drivers. I steered the front in so there must be room to pass (shame about the rear). Good cornering stability for the crew in the back.
When you think you've seen everything...1:03:25
Just one other thing from watching the video the Powers that be expect the ambulance response time is 8 minutes from recieving the call to arriving at the casualty. Well to get a 100% target that the high up idiots who have never driven an ambulance in their lives live in cuckoo land without killing them selves. The ambulance crews are doing wonders
Answering calls it's the underfunded hospitals who need more staff to clear bed blocking and hospitals more built either 2
Hospitals to a city
Or one very very large one to cope.
Great video and great driving. Do rules state that in red lights emergency vehicles cant use sirens and ‘push through’ standstill traffic, not criticising, just curious. Ta
an emergency vehicle cannot direct other road users through red traffic lights , and the exemption is solely for the emergency vehicle ... there is nothing to be gained from bullying other road users
@@nicolajaynehodson9223 And it can lead to crashes which creates another emergency .
6:40 - what a prat!
what?
Who
The bus lanes are a problem. Do you turn into them (and risk a camera and fine) or stay out and be under-passed.
Ambulances on lights allowed in bus lanes.
There are risks either way . If an emergency vehicle uses the bus lane a car can panic when they hear the siren and pull into the bus lane in front of the emergency vehicle and I am always nervous passing up the inside of traffic ( I would keep the siren on though ) . But if the emergency vehicle takes the outside lane and cars move across into the bus lane they risk a fine .
No two-tone or hyperyelp?
Has the standard rsg tones fitted so he does have a phaser he just didn’t use it.
Why do my comments keep being removed? if you don't want me to tell you when i see people robbing your content i won't 👍
The population have certainly dumbed down massively since my time. That was quite painful to watch.
Pity you didn’t have blue flashing lights a siren or a loud BULL horn ……some drivers are selfish or stupid or just in a world of their own oh and others just don’t have a clue
How did some of these people get a licence
Good driving skills shame about those stupid drivers & pedestrians who think 2 seconds of their life would be wasted letting an ambulance have priority but that how stupid people are only think of themselves
Wouldn’t it of been better to use the air ambulance?
Why the different tones
There is a channel called Chris Martin EMS. He has video called Siren 'science'. It is an excellent explanation.
Some of those car drivers need urgent retraining on how to respond to blues n twos behind you, driver excellent drive, well done.
Conclusion? The general standard of observation of drivers (and pedestrians) is piss-poor.
Great job. When does The Met pick up the transfer to clear the way?
Police have nothing to to with it
Police are too busy to assist with road matters, unless there is an accident when they keep the road closed for extensive delays whilst waiting for a team to come and run some post accident investigations (the plight of those delayed is not of importance to them)
When you have a family member killed by a drink driver, you would hope that the police do everything they can to investigate even if that means closing a road for a few hours@@imsbvs
@@ThomashorsmanI have experienced a family member killed in a road accident, 21 year old niece, so appreciate the work of establishing facts. But, I also recognise my grief should not become the grief of innocent other motorists who have their journey massively delayed in the process. Sick people going to hospital for instance, perhaps a doctor attending a sick patient, or people with transport connections to meet. The list can be endless.
They didnt and neither did Kent do the first bit . There just arent enough traffic police available .
Some drivers so ignorent
What was the reason for a 75 mile blue light run ?
A hospital to hospital patient transfer.
@@Disfamilydoes the UK not have helicopter ambulances?
@@ianmontgomery7534 Helicopters are not generally used for transfers here.
not all accidents /illnesses patients are safe for helicopters ,ie altitude ,blood related trauma etc can interfere with symptoms ,@@ianmontgomery7534
Yes - BUT the helicopter "air ambulance" is NOT funded by taxes, they only operate thanks to generous donations from the public. They are on "emergency standby" and usually deployed to serious collisions, due to their cost they don't have many of them and they would never normally be used for patient transfer.@@ianmontgomery7534
28:35 to 29:30 unforgiveable. Deaf, blind or just plain malicious?
Why wasn’t an air ambulance used?
Also, why no police escort?
As a doctor, I went with a patient from Worcester to Birmingham - peak hour traffic and it had been snowing - police car escort on the motorway, and then 3 motorcycles playing leapfrog from the motorway to the hospital - the journey took less than 40 minutes, door to door!!!!
It certainly used to be the way . One answer may be fewer traffic police or police in general available . The only time I have had police escorts was on jobs where the police had also been in attendance in any case . I can only remember one occasion where I got one on a transfer with a heart transplant patient form Nottingham to the Freeman Hospital at Newcastle on Tyne . The patient was quite stable , but we had to get him their ASAP as the transplant team was literally waiting to do the op . The escort through the Tyne Tunnel was something else . It was also in the days before sat navs so we just didnt have the necessary local knowledge . Because many ambulance crews end up travelling further distances to calls ' out of their normal area ' local knowledge is almost impossible , so sat navs are essential . ( plus maps are out of date as soon as they are printed ! ).
Well that was a fantastic example of the sheer incompetence of so many drivers. Clearly not looking beyond the end of their noses, using mirrors, etc etc. I would have to question a couple of things though.......... any reason for not using the empty bus lanes more than you did? Also, I would question the effectiveness of the siren. Normally, where I am, it is the Police that seem to have piddly little sirens that no one can hear - I can't help but feel from the consistent lack of responses from the drivers and pedestrians that the siren on the Ambulance is louder in the cab than it is externally.
I serve in a London police force, our sirens are deafening!
Many people put their music on then can't hear an emergency vehicle approaching from behind, and yes clearly they don't use their mirrors nearly enough. They are in their own little world and oblivious to much else. There was two or three times I shouted "MOVE" from my sofa lol.
above 50mph sirens are effectively useless
Correct. Driver training teaches you at 50mph or above you "outdrive" your siren. People can't hear you and react in time before you are right behind them at that speed or above.@@Thomashorsman
More modern cars also have better and better soundproofing which helps with road noise but not siren apprehension
Weldone can u video the helicopter landing when u get a chance at King's collage hospital
It’s not the case as some said in the comments. That how some drivers are blind and deaf .Its a lack of common sense and RESPECT they don’t give a sxxt about anyone.😂😂
1:10:32 where’s this persons brain 🤔 the white car driver wow
I can kind of give that one a pass more than others - they first become visible at 1:10:25, seem to react by stopping in the road, but realising they'd be in the way tried to make an effort to clear it. Reversing could have taken more time.
The car at 1:03:28 and the van at 1:15:20, however...
I felt that "ugh" right after it though.
Van drivers, especially black ones - karma...
Watching these videos really does point out how dump some people are 😂
Why on earth wasn’t a helicopter called in Margate to London in a road vehicle is crazy
What a bloody joke an ambulance having to sit in traffic at a red light!
Drivers passing a red light. To allow ambulance through will get prosecuted.
That's expected - the ambulance can treat it as a giveway/yield but the other vehicles can't. That's why they'll normally shut their siren off when that happens, so they're not pushing people into breaking the red.
ARE YOU SERIOUS! people should get a life.
No offence, but you do drive like miss daisy. The more use of the correct tone could of let drivers know to plan what they're going to do in advance. Also, these Mercedes are gutless. Mercedes should have the decency to increase power for emergency vehicles.
Perhaps , but he had to keep it smooth and drive differently with a patient on than on the way to a job .
This is a patient transfer so it’s going to be slow..plenty of blue light runs on RUclips with fast police responses or paramedic rapid response vehicles.
