Happy Sunday Everyone!☀🏡 Are you making any of these design mistakes in your home?? I hope this video helps guide you to transform your house into a home you love!
Heyy lol i luv ur vids u slay kristen
Happy Sunday ❤❤
We will make new house
SAME!❤
Furniture legs styles never addressed. Excellent tip👌🏼
Would be cool to get a list or time stamps for these 'list' videos
I've watched basically all your videos and you never disappoint, love them all and learn so much. I hardly ever comment but I always make sure to give you a thumbs up :) I sure do enjoy all your wonderful decor ideas and all the great advice on the do and don'ts. Thank you again for sharing, please keep 'em coming.
I loved the blue chairs and pillows 🎉
🎉thank you!! For pointing out what I see is the most common mistake - hanging art and the proper height on the type of wall and depending on height of the furniture piece below (if there is one) I see this one all the time 😊
This interior design mistakes was incredibly informative and helpful. I never realized how much impact small details like rug size and wall art placement could have on the overall look of a room. Thanks to the clear explanations and actionable tips in the video.
Hello, following your instructions in this video and some previous ones , I created my living room and dining room look spectacular ❤ thank you Kristen
I didn't think the finish made that much difference, until I got a quart of satin, colored matched to touch up a wall that was mat. It looked like two different colors. But when he used the same color formula to tint a quart of mat... It matched the wall perfectly!
The paint store has a card with the different finishes. Hold it up to your wall and you'll be sure get the right finish every time. (So easy when you have the correct tools!) 💖🌞🌵😷
Love Love Love your short videos. So full of great info and ideas.
*Legs* . Finally, some one talking about leg styles! This may seem like a minor detail, but in the totality of a room's aesthetic, it's major. I notice details like that. *Paint* . I'm very into the "color drenching" trend. I prefer matte finishes except for high humidity areas. For baseboards and door trim, step it up to a semi-gloss in the same color for cleanability, or a tint/tone/shade for slight contrast. I'm 57 and ready to bust out of that "white trim and baseboard" look. A seamless transition is much more appealing to me. Thank you Kristen for your tips.
❤Great job ...great reminders! Especially the wall art...I could never articulate that issue properly.
This was so enlightening! I realized I've been committing several design faux pas in my home, like ignoring the power of statement pieces. The practical tips offered in the video have motivated me to make some easy adjustments for a more polished look.
As always, your cheerful demeanor has made me smile 😊. I love your videos ❤
Good advice, especially on paint finishes.
Oh my goodness! These videos are the best. Honestly I feel I am on an interior design course when I watch your videos. We are looking to completely renovate a new home. Your videos will save us both time, energy and money. Truly appreciate the effort you make. Warm regards from England!
Definitely appreciate the height and spatial recommendations for hanging artwork.
Love the tips on throw pillows. It’s an area I struggle with. I still have boring ones because I can’t seem to find the right combination.
I'm moving into my new semi-custom home in a few weeks. I'm so nervous about decorating! We've been in a rental for some time now that has started looking like a frat house! Thank you for all of the great tips!!
Unless you have a pretty substantial budget for decorating, don’t try to decorate all at once! Spend time searching for what you love. Try not to shop at just the big box stores or if you do, at least from different ones so your home doesn’t look like the showroom of a store. Congratulations!
Enjoy your new house, I'm sure it's going to be gorgeous! You've got this :)
Don't be nervous!. Decorating is FUN! Stick to the basics and choose what you like. Keep it minimal and your budget will stretch. Happy Decorating
Check out consignment stores for furniture. We just moved into a new house, nearly twice as big as the old one (1000 sf to 1900 sf). We bought a new bed (old ‘master’ was 11x11, so we upgraded to a queen), 3 new counter bar stool/ chairs, and a new armchair for the living room. Bought a used armoire, used desk, and a used nightstand. Guess which pieces we get the most compliments on?
Furniture first, decorator stuff second. Your furniture will impact your space in a number of ways.
5:00 this is important at my home because when I get home, I set up my bags for my next excursion out. So, I make sure my bags are pretty when on "display" in my entry way. There's my office bag, the bag of bags for the grocery, and bags for returns/exchanges...
What's that you say? If I need to return, I put the item in a bag with the receipt (and maybe a sample if I'm color matching) and usually a note describing the situation on one side and the store name on the other. I clothespin the note (so I can see the store name) to the bag. Then on errand day, I look at the bags and see where I need to go. Having each item in a different bag makes it easy to pick and choose, if I don't have time to get to every place or if they're not located close together. When I get to the return counter, I pull the note and "read" it to the clerk. I look in the bag and surprisingly there's a sample to match the correct color (or size if it's for a DIY hardware piece). And I look really organized, where the reality is: I'm not sure why I'm there until I "read" the clerk the note. 🤫
I also keep a separate bag for friends. No doubtably during a visit I'll say, next time I come, I'll bring.... So when I get home and it's still fresh in my mind, I'll get the thing and put it in "their" bag. Or if on the phone, they want to borrow.... I'll set up a bag with the thing and when they come to pick it up, it's ready to go! (This is especially helpful if the thing needs to be found (I know it's here somewhere), cleaned or mended beforehand.)
Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourself and each other 😷
But where do you keep all the empty bags that you aren’t using for that day? It sounds like a ton of bags…?
“Form follows function”, Home Economics-101, College freshman course. Love your videos Kristen.
Amazing! How small changes can make a big impact in home decor. Learning about the importance of proportion and scale in furniture arrangement and the power of statement pieces revolutionized.
You, ma'am, are a genius. I love the example photos you present. There's a lot of depth, warmth and comfort in most of those designs. Many other "designers" I've watched on RUclips seem to think that they can only apply tips to the pukey modern look. Your insights are spot on and i will subscribe!
Kristen, is a satin paint finish the same as eggshell?
FYI, if you want to use matte paint in a bathroom check with your paint store. There are companies that make matte finish paint specifically for bathrooms, although it is a little more expensive
Storage underneath the bed is great idea, need this because I have a lot of clutter. Thank you kristen great tips
I found this vid incredibly helpful in improving the look of my home. The explanations were clear, and I could easily relate to many of the mistakes highlighted. The best part was the practical solutions offered, which made it easy for me to start making positive changes in my space.
I realized from the video that I've been making some of these mistakes in my own home, like improper furniture placement and neglecting lighting, but now I have ideas on how to correct them for a better overall look.
Kristen do you have a book out? I love your videos and would like your idea on different areas of my home. Thank you 😊
Great information. Making it a longer video and talking slower and actually watching you choose pieces of furniture and art helps me remember better ❤
Hi Kirsten. Would you include herringbone floor as one of your paterns? So.....would a patterned rug and a couple of patterned cushions be too much? Thanks in advance.
About to purchase my first home! I love your channel and can’t wait to start designing with your tips
Congratulations on your first home 😊
I never gave much thought to furniture legs before your video, thanks!
Thank you for all the tips you give us to help us prevent these mistakes.
Again great tips for decorating! A pet peeve of mine is looking online and seeing wall decor hung too high!
I have MANY different leg styles of tables and chairs but I actually like it bc I have an eclectic, bohemian style.
Hi, I really would like to know your opinion on blue and white ginger jars. Please let me know.
Loved this video! Such great tips and thanks for showing a visual presentation
..
Nice! this video breaks down mistakes like cluttered spaces and mismatched furniture, offering practical solutions like decluttering and cohesive color schemes.
Oh lordy! I'm watching the video on the right!! I can't help it! ❤ ur channel
Thank you for all your tips to help us not make these mistakes.
Wonderful tips! I’ve learned most of them but what really impacted me today was your tip about feet and legs of furniture. I can see what a difference this makes with the example you showed. Love watching all of your videos.
I love mixing patterns and colors together. Our sectional and ottoman are solids but everything else is a colorful menagerie. I really don’t care about design rules. ❤
Just applied the 10 inch rule for my artwork and it's so much better! Great video!
Decorate your home the way you want it will be beautiful because you are❤❤❤
I’m finding if I want to put up 3 artworks I’ve photoshopped, at least one won’t be the right orientation. Two will be portrait and one will be landscape or vice versa. Even with 2 portrait pics, one might be a bit wider than the other so I have to look at the proportions and know what frames I’ll be putting them in before starting to work on the pics in the computer. Given a lot of the photos are from the 80s, there weren’t portrait and landscape pics taken so I have to look at if I need to just use a detail of the photo to get the orientation I need.
When working on a photo I make up several files of it, different sizes and orientations and colours and filters used. So one will be watercolour, another sepia, black and white or colour. I have a list of the mat sizes for my frames so I can do a copy 12”x18” or 16”x20”, etc.
Furniture legs? who knew? Thank you! I am challenged in many ways and need you to show b4 and after pic together as you do. ❤
Thank you!! Love your videos. My plan is to make some of these changes I’m still so not sure of what to do. But you always give great ideas.
Good tips! ❤never thought about the legs of the furniture 😮
Love your videos and your tips!
Great ideas. Would like to see a video in more detail about mixing patterns.
thanks for all the great help this will help me out a lot thank you !
Your videos are always so helpful! Thank you so much for your content.❤
Kirsten, what do you think about antique red wool rugs?
Excellent suggestions!
Always love your videos Kristen! Thank you ❤
Thanks Kristen! Very informative video as always!
Kristen is glowing I love it !! She looks so pretty!
Great video, Kristen!! I always look forward to your new videos :)
That was amazing..your tips always have something new
I have a question about "legs" What if you have an over all eclectic style, where you mix modern pieces with traditional or vintage, for example. How do you mix the furniture in these cases?
Always great ideas❤❤
This is amazingly helpful
I may have missed it but where did you buy the paned floor mirrors??❤
Thank you! Will be getting some lamps!! 😊
More great ideas! Thanks Kristen! ❤
Great instructive video filled with useful info! Thx!
Hi Kristen!
Could you include a short how-to in a future video on how to get those IKEA pleats done the right way? You probably have done it in the past, but I've already looked thru so many videos to no avail 😅
Always great tips!
Thanks!! Always helpful tips!
Practical. Thank you.
Hey Kristen where did the black framed mirrors come from that are behind you in the video?
The paint store/department has a card with the different 5 or 6 different finishes in it. (It looks like a paint chip card, with different shades on it. But in reality, it's the same color with the different finishes.)
Hold it up to your wall and you'll be sure get the right finish every time. (So easy when you have the correct tools!) 💖🌞🌵😷
Really helpful & simple tips . Thanks
Perfect video. Thanks a lot ❤
Satin is my favorite for bathrooms.😊
If you find a piece of furniture you love and at a good price but the legs don't match your style, you can switch out the legs if they are the type that screw in.
Hey Kristen are you looking forward to spring coming soon 😊
Yes I have a huge announcement on my channel coming this Spring as well!!
This information was very helpful…🤗💕
Ευχαριστουμε πολυ για το βιντεο σου Κριστιν
Great video! I agree with you on these points! Tfs ❤
Thank you, Kristen, for your advice.
Great tips!
I love the 10" rule for pictures above furniture.
Thank you, very helpful video
This was incredibly helpful. The creator broke down each mistake in a simple way and their tips for fixing them were easy to understand and implement. I'm feeling much more confident about decorating my home now.
Hey girl, Great tips to help us out there. Some of us need help more then others. Can you do some styling videos. Stay safe. Have a good night. God Bless and family too!! Xo 😘 Looking forward to seeing other videos!! Xo 😘 Helpfully Tips!! Xo 😘🩷💕💞💓💜
Excellent tips! Thank you!
Thnks ❤
Wait, what about when kitchen and front room are together? Semigloss paint?
I’ve used a satin around my home and it is easy to clean. I don’t like the gloss look so much, but this gives just enough similar to eggshell as mentioned here. Either works great
Yes eggshell and satin work great for that.
thank you
Where can I buy that wall-art that is at minute 3:36?
Great video
I'm definitely lowering my wall art closer to my headboard!
Great points
Amazing 😮❤
Can’t wait to watch ❤
Luv u lots Kristen ❤❤
We have an overhead light in our ceiling fan. It died about six months ago. I’ve never been so happy. I bought table lamps. And now we use them. My husband said I could get whatever light I wanted put up. But I’m leaving it like it is. We actually use the ceiling fan. And it has two pulls, so we don’t have to have the light on. I may get a new light, but I don’t want to use it. My husband always tries to hang things way too high. He’s not allowed to hang anything without me looking at it. Or I buy something bigger, so it will hide the nail hole that’s up too high. I think the legs on my furniture are pretty much the same. I keep my sofa covered a lot of the time. Because I have three dogs and not much grass. I do take the cover off when it isn’t supposed to rain. It’s just easier on me, than trying to clean off all the paw prints. We have a brown chair, and even it gets dirty. Don’t ask me how? But the dogs were here before the furniture. Next time I will get something darker or white slip covered. But in Georgia the mud is red clay. Next time I will just buy an orange sofa and the paw prints might blend in.
Do you have a good sofa cover link?
Heyy lol i luv ur vids u slay kristen
Do a house tour quickly you’ve made us made for so long …eveytime u upload a new video I always thought it would be a house tour video
