I toured this factory in April 2011. It was like heaven for me, especially since I'm like a huge Gibson fan. I know I played at least 20 different Gibbys in the retail shop including the Eric clapton and Mike Bloomfield Les Pauls. I also got to play my first EDS-1275 which happened to be a Don Felder model. (I'm only 15) GIBSON ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!
The white Les Paul Custom is not at 1:23, its a few seconds later. At 1:23, they pass a natural (not white) ES-175. So, I'm not completely sure what the OP was asking about.
Manager: "Quick, premier guitar is coming over for a visit!!" Worker: *spits out beer* "OH SHIT EVERYONE GET BACK TO WORK AND STOP SLACKING WITH THE QUALITY CONTROL!!"
Toyota doesn't have to wait for the lacquer to cure. If they didn't have to wait for glue/finish to harden, they could probably do one in 13 hours or less. That's life when you're working with wood. Was just there a couple of weeks ago. No photography (including cell phones) allowed and you have to wear safety glasses. You also don't get as close to the workers as you see here, but you do get to see all of the building process (including cnc necks, electronics, final adjustments, etc.)
@fragman,thanks for the comment/info what I was saying is whereas Fender or Gibson will make you a their version of a "custom shop" instrumemnt, its not going to be much different from what they already make. Whereas Carvin uses their 'stock' instruments as a 'starting point',and from there you can literally make any changes that you want aside from the traditional pick up change , the wood or perhaps the color.
Sorry for not answering sooner, I've been neglecting my You Tube messages. How do you get to go in? Walk in the factory showroom door and buy a ticket, or you can call ahead, or your can purchase a ticket on-line (I tried on-line, but never could find the right web page.)
@marvinhenkel,Ididn't quite understand your reply. Unless you meant the 'custom' guiitars that Gibson makes are 'as custom as they come' for Gibson. Maybe ,I misunderstood what 'custom' really means, but I can always ask Carvin for sure. lol Thanks for the reply.
Support your your local music shop, if you're not lucky enough to have one locally drive to the nearest town that does. I use the local independent guy , and I am lucky, as his people are also kind, logical, and reasonable.
Don't ever just order one. There are good ones and better ones. My buddy unfortunately got a lemon, which is rare. That being said they are a different company from the original. Try before you buy and make sure you get your personal string choice on there as fast as possible.
@Jackwee,I'm not knocking fender or Gibson instruments. I'm sure they have hundreds of loyal customers, hell,I even own a Fender myself. What I'm saying is that when I think of a Custom Shop guitar or bass I think of a company like Carvin who start with the regular 'cookie cutter' instrument, and say, this is where you can start and here are your options just do YOUR thing and we'll make it. Now,that's Custom Shop!! I will put my Carvin guitar (CT6) and my LB75 against any Fender or Gibson anyday!
I've been hearing a lot of guitars company saying that they make 'Custom Shop" instruments. When I think of a custom shop instrument,I think of getting an instrument the 'way you want it',not the way the company makes it and sells it to you. So with that said,Gibson (nor Fender) is truely a custom instrument maker unlike CARVIN,the true custom shop.BTW,their instruments quality surpass Gibson and Fender's hand down!!!
its time for fender, Gibson and Rickenbacker to raise their game because for what they charge, they are building crap. G&L is still building guitars at a decent price with great integrity.

@joethebar 1 G&L built like Fenders - should be called "Ford" or "Chevy". Not fine musical instruments.
@Jackwee,that's YOUR,so you should stick to it! Fortunately,I know better! Admit it,you're just a Gibson man. but,I'll tell you one thing,my Carvin CT6 will smoke any Gibson or Fender anyday or any time. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!! Good Luck!! Enjoy your, guitars because I certainly do enjoy mines.BTW,I aslo have a Carvin LB75 signature (of course MY signature model!)with MY name on it!
Looks kinda... impersonal. Not much joy in that workplace. Like a factory floor vibe, rather than a loving workshop of people who love Gibson guitars. Am I wrong?
@Jackwee,you msut be a Fender or Gibson owner, because no one with any real knowledge of Carvin instruments and have played one would make a statement as such. As I've said,Carvin's instruments are far better than anything Fenderr or Gibson makes or perhaps has made. Question for you, have you ever seen a Fender or Gibson that didn't LOOK like a Fender or Gibson? Answer,NO! there's your answer to YOUR Custom Shop question. BTW, I own 2 Carvin's and IMOP Fender nor Gibson can't touch either!!!!
Why do Gibson employee's act so proud of their Gibson guitars, I have heard more QC issues from Gibson customers than ALL the other companies COMBINED!!! I own a Gibson M-III and the Trem posts are set in the wrong position so the strings run off to the treble end, the scratch plate has been cut the wrong shape so doesn't hug the Trem cavity or neck correctly, the locking nut clicked when you depressed the trem bar because the underside of the nut was radiused and couldn't sit flush to the (FLAT) nut slot, the neck inlays are not centred, the claw screws were put in at an obscure angle and so adjustment is difficult and the bridge PU (500T) isn't spaced correctly so the pole pieces don't sit under the strings correctly and loss of volume/dynamics is quite evident.. BTFW I have searched the internet for Gibson M-III pics and found many others with the same ailments so I didn't just get unlucky with mine. I have contacted a Local Luthier and he can put all the Gibson F***k ups to right except the Shoddy cut scratch plate, his opinion was that Gibson were outrageous for letting this guitar reach the stores and NO WAY could have been simply overlooked as there are too many OBVIOUS flaws here which means they don't give a rats ass about their customers or their products period. I have contacted Gibson many times about a replacement Schaller (Gibson stamped) trem as mine is looking very tired and they REFUSE to reply to my Emails and written letters EVERY TIME. So to sum up Gibson they have just LOST a customer for LIFE who would have bought many products from them in the future. I was going to buy a couple of the re-issue M-III but I will now have them made by a British luthier who will build them to a FLAWLESS standard!!!
+Mickeyislowd I own 5 Gibsons myself and none of them suffer any defect. One is from Kalamazoo, three (including a Memphis Custom) are from Memphis and one from Bozeman.
julosx I'm happy your guitars are good quality but I can assure you many are not. I saw a YT video of a guy sending back his M-III reissue as the paint was flawed with blotches and the trem was fitted incorrectly in the same way mine was 25yrs earlier. Another video I watched just yesterday about a 2008 Les Paul going in to a luthier to have the neck heel reduced for playability reasons and as he was removing wood he found the tenon joint had a 3mm gap running the entire length of the joint which he had to fill. He explained the insert was cut too small and should of never gone out b'cause this would effect strength and integrity of the joint also would affect the transfer of vibrational resonance through out the guitar. The bottom line is someone f****d up here and instead of putting it right assumed noone would know about this as when glued the fault would be hidden for good. He also said as a guitar builder (Crimson Guitars) he thought Gibson quality control has always been suspect and of late after the 29% price hike has gotten a whole lot worse. My first comment was not intended as a rant truthfully but they have lost me as I don't like giving them my hard earned money without the confidence I'm getting a Top notch axe they are capable of creating. Gibson is a prestigious maker and has produced some of the best designs and great guitars out there but considering a 29% increase across all their guitars I can accept reluctantly if their product is pretty much flawless but I'm saying it aint and many people who have excellent knowledge and hands on guitar making skills will tell you the story unfortunately. I love my M-III much b'cause it is the best playing/sounding guitar I have owned since it was put right from the dismal screwups I mentioned earlier and I want a reissue really bad b'cause the new colours are very nice and they sound just as good on YT at least with the different PU config but I'm making my stand against the purchase and have e/mailed Gibson the reasons why also and they have not even replied to assure me their reissue M-IIIs are well made and have no faults or concerns with them...So what does that tell you about Gibsons customer services and customer satisfaction? It tells me they don't give a ratts ass what I think and don't give a cow whether my guitar is even functioning perfectly when I get it, I mean what is it to answer a bloody e/mail??If I was complaining about the Famous Les Paul would that prompt them to speak to me any more? Now they got their money you mean nothing to them when they should always be helpful to customers with genuine concerns and question but I got two finger up in my face instead.
+Mickeyislowd "Many are not" doesn't mean much to me, I'm sorry. I don't know any statistics either. Word is, Gibson produced so many guitars along the years - quite a few. So it's probably inevitable that some of them are flawed. The same can be said of other brands products.
i have played an epiphone casino and honestly you cant tell the difference between it and an expensive Gib$son. you are wasting your money on this overpriced crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Truly the guitar's magical kingdom! Thanks to the mighty Gibson people and to Premier Guitars for this fascinating tour.
I did the factory tour last July 3rd. Great experience that I highly recommend to anyone that likes those archtop guitars.
YOU DIDN'T GET ASKED, IS THAT A GUITAR STUFFED DOWN YOUR PANTS OR ARE YOU JUST HAPPY TO SEE ME?
@@googo151 No I didn’t 🤣

GIBSON ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I love my ES-175, made a few years ago right here.
Fun to see where your guitars are built. My guitars were made Kalamazoo, Michigan, but on much of the same equipment
That's funny to see a Fender ad at the beginning of this Gibson video.
I was there in October of 2011 just after the second raid by the Feds in August..........it was a great setup and a real good visit.
Cool - my 345 was stamped in late Oct 2011 and shipped in November. It's a fabulous guitar.

This is love at first sight!
That appears to be a regular ES-175 in natural finish. It's made from maple plywood, and it looks almost white in certain lighting conditions.
I want an ES-1275. Whether it's a Gibson or Epiphone, I don't care. It's a beautiful and revolutionary guitar. I would Stairway the hell out of it.
ES335!!! Wish I could visit this factory!
Manager: "Quick, premier guitar is coming over for a visit!!"
Worker: *spits out beer* "OH SHIT EVERYONE GET BACK TO WORK AND STOP SLACKING WITH THE QUALITY CONTROL!!"
its an es 175, like what izzy stradlin from guns n roses used. usually gibson sells them in only a burst finish but i like the white myself
i'm goin their in a month. cant wait. i didnt know it was es series though
@blackghost1094 is that shop neat? im goin their in a month and cant wait,i am 14 and hoping they would let you play some guitars

at 3:59 you can see Orville the Ghost opening the door! I you cant see it in your computer try pressing alt+f4 and wait for it to come back
at 1.38... the one with 3 hh--- which one is that?... and the very last one is a 330 right?
It's a ES-175
This is heaven
I'd like to visit that factory
Too late. Closed early 2019.
thats actually very interesting to be honest, i read my previous comment from a post i saw a while back, how did you get to go in?
Is that 3 pickup one at 1:38 an ES-335?
1:38
i'd love to work there
nice. i love to see that human hands still need to be used for finishing touches.
CC27433 CC27433 they choose to do it that way. Doesn’t HAVE to be that way.

Mimphis?
Why is there a Les Paul there?
Hmmmmmm wonder why they build the white custom Les Paul’s.
Mine was built in Kalamazoo!
More left handers, please, please, please.

I agree. My wife is a lefty. We went to a GC and they had 12 left handed guitars in the entire store, half of them entry level.
i'd volunteer here on weekends if i could

Those molds are awesome
I enjoy my 335, although it was crafted in Kalamazoo. God speed to the good people at Gibson.
Bought an ES175D in 1976 for about $600.00 CAD.
So which ES-335 is better made the Memphis or the ones made in Nashville?
I've got a Memphis Howard Roberts Fusion. It's the best guitar I have.
2.20 got your answer !!
And i build my ES 335 copy by myself so you see at my avatar-picture ;-)

I think that is the Gibson ES-175
Walkway to heaven 01:15
It looks like a Gibson ES-175 (white).
Gibson custom, but i dont know what model. You can google it on images.
It looks like a Byrdland model of some sort with the sharpness of the single cutaway.
He sounds like Tom Hanks
do you still make es 347?
I'm always disappointed when I watch a Premier Guitar video and Rebecca Dirks isn't hosting it.
wow, he really loves to focus.... :P
must be a quicker way of doing the binding.
Yes China,its called epiphoning.
As long as the quality is the same lol.
