I've been a huge Riqueni fan since the 80s. He has been through a lot. He has suffered enormously. His music, always elegant, complex, subtle has become tempered and refined to an incredible degree. His is a message of peace and hope and survival. A rare individual, a beautiful soul.

Con gran honor ,fue una sorpresa inovidable tener el maestro Rafael Riqueni en mi taxi accompañado de su videografo . Minitos mas tarde durante la carrera hacia el Hotel en el centro de Chicago.Siendo yo Mohamed Jebari ,ciudadano Americano nacido en Tanger ,Marruecos ,al ver la guitarra primero ,y las maletas .Una vez dentro del taxi oi Español ,cosa que levanto la Algeria de comunicar con ellos en Español .Despues de saber que son de España ,con guitarra ,a demas lo que decia el maestro estaba agrabado.Yo Mohamed Jebari, nacido en Tanger en 1951 pues he puesto un CD de flamenco para comprobar que tal este guitarrista en mi taxi es capaz de hacer y tocar .Uno momento el Senor con la barba me dijo ,por favor suba el volument un poco ! Asi fue ...De repente el señor de la barba me supredio con decirme " El que esta tocando ,es yo .Rafael Riqueni.Ha sido un HONOR.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊

Me parece de lo mas innovador que he oido en flamenco, se nota que tiene formacion clasica y en armonia.

Hora y pico, solo, solo con su guitarra; hay muy pocos guitarristas que aguanten un concierto de esta duración solitos, sin meter cajón, palmas, cante, flauta, etc. es la demostración de lo grande que es.
Es un placer ver (y escuchar) a Rafa tan limpio en su mente, con toda su creatividad, no ha tenido una vida tan sencilla y muchos baches, pero... al final el resultado es positivo!
En todos los sentidos...

Wonderful player and an ace musician - I saw him performing together with a flamenco dancer in two shows on the Mezzo tv network this summer and it was so beautiful! OLÉ!! 💗

El Maestro Riqueni demuestra en su toque de guitarra una sabiduría descomunal. Que difícil ser Magistral y dentro de ello dejar notas de silencio. Eso solo lo pueden hacer los Maestros.

Soy Giorgio desde Italia.Te recuerdas en el Julio 1987 estuvimos juntos al Maestro y guitarrista Mario Escudero en Sevilla,cerca de su casa y en la Carboneria, y el hablava de Manitas de..Lata..Que hermosos tiempos! Para mi fue un gran honor conocer el famoso guitarrista Rafael Riqueni.Con la memoria que tienes,no sera' dificil recordar.Hay muy pocos guitarristas que pueden tocar 1 ora y media,y su composiciones; Rafael Riqueni es un verdadero conciertista , artista y Maestro de la guitarra flamenca.Te envio un abrazo y que sigues tocando en conciertos en todo el mundo.

Viendo y escuchando al maestro ve uno.lo difícil que es la guitarra sin embargo en otros maestros no. Se nota tanto la dificultad y parece más sencillo la guitarra ha evolucionado tanto que en poco tiempo lo de hace treinta años ya se ve un poco de otra época

Real question: why are classical guitar and flamenco guitar sitting positions so different? Classical guitar makes it seem the sitting position is essential to prevent injury?
Personally for me it's much easier rhythmically to hold the guitar on my right knee.
The right hand techniques of flamenco.
The fingers of your fretting hand are more in line with the guitar fretboard, so it's easier to reach bass notes with your pinky especially faster passages. while in the classical position, your hand, the part with your pinky finger, is usally slightly turned away, especially playing on the upper neck, A-major for example has this curved hand. but that's what is observed and heard somehwere, maybe it is just a traditional thing, or both, but it makes sense to me.
Classical guitar is more demanding on the left therefore resting the guitar on the left leg gives the left arm more freedom of movement; in contrast, flamenco has the right hand working the most and the guitarist will favor a posture to accommodate the right hand for ease of motion.
In 2024, the sitting positions are changing and a lot of guitarists on both sides are using supports so they can sit with both feet on the ground (emphasizing ergonomics).
