@@destinjohnny007 It's all music that we acknowledge. R&B, blues, jazz, the black man experienced a helluva lot to have the understanding that music meant. Thankfully artists, such as LS as well as many British musicians, placed their spin on it and gave it back. As far as I know every band so inspired gives credit where credit is due.
They were a big deal as well as the spin-offs since they were from my hometown. Everyone my age will tell you "Yeah man, I was there when they used to practice in the garage." I think most of the men in Florida was there in you hear them speak. Lol!
You said be grateful at the end....I am grateful for what others may see as disposable. I am grateful; for you, for my life, for the birds and the worms. Ty
@B A - And one of the elements of that responsibility it to find a partner worthy of having a child with..... just like a male's responsibility is displaying aspects/characteristics that makes him WORTHY of that decision. I'm not talking badly about single mothers... I'm talking badly about the MEN who have left those mothers single to begin with. One of the best indications of a "man worthy of respect" is a man who would go out of his way to raise his child in a stable environment. Sadly, THAT portion of the situation has been a disappointment far too long. (again, I'm pointing a finger directly at men who have not been living up to the expectations of being a GOOD man).
@Jerry Ogburn Wrong, all Single Mothers do do not make the choice to be that way, some do but some have no choice, because many Men are basically no good.
On mother's, day 6 years ago, my father translated this to my mother as I sang to her. All three of us cried as we did this but we laughed as well. I didn't even play my guitar, I just sang. One of the most beautiful moments in my life. Imagine this song translated into Punjabi (India), by my Dad (a Stone's n Beatles fan). Yes.

This song has a special place in my heart. We played this at my PawPaw’s memorial service. He was the greatest man I’ve never know and truly lived his life as a simple man. I love and miss him dearly. This song makes me feel closer to him. Been 8 years now since he passed. I miss my best friend. Seeing your reaction made my heart so happy ♥️
This song right here is one reason why these older songs will never fade and never stop playing. Name one song, in mainstream play, that the lyrics hit hard, are simple and the truth.
It is nice to see the younger generation listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd - I was lucky enough to see them live in LA before he died in the plane crash. I will never forget this concert!
India I was fortunate enough to see them do this live an outdoor concert JFK Stadium 1976 Ronnie you're missed greatly this is one of the greatest songs that Lynyrd Skynyrd ever did bar none India you have a wonderful night take care
Every song written by Ronnie Van Zant is a song written about his life. He is just telling a story and it’s up to u to listen to whatever song u want and hear a part of his life. It was a sad day when he died and unfortunately he died before ever rehiring Ed King back into the band who wrote a lot of their songs as well.
Skynyrd taught the 70's generation how to rock with aesthetics from the soul . Tuesday's Gone was another philosophical song that you'd certainly enjoy.
Ohhhhh girl this is another favorite song of mine,I love all types of music...so happy you listened to this song..His momma was telling him about the true meaning of life, live your life to its fullest in a meaningful way,let the little things in life be your happiness,it's not about being rich,it's not about how many things you have or anything to prove to others, love who you are and live your good life,a simple uncluttered happy life and give your love to a good woman...
I'm thankful for growing up on L.S. they r from Jacksonville FL. They have a Interesting history. Most of their songs r good and about life. Although they were a WILD bunch of guys....lol. I'm happy to c the younger generation listening and enjoying music that's 40 years old
FreeBird is a must react. You should probably do a live version, around 1976. Its is just a totally great song and has one of the most famous guitar solos in history.
Losttouchjs I agree. Truth is the Piano and drummer often get overlooked because the guitars in it are so famous, but the piano, and obviously I think the drums were incredible too.
I disagree. Live versions are fine, but when introducing someone to a new song, they should hear the album version. I can't tell you how many reactors have ended up disliking a song because one of you recommended them a bad live version.
Chris Bowman There are certain times when an artist is so good live that the live version is better. Plus, sometimes it’s better to see the crowd, the excitement and how hard and Well The group plays. That’s why I recommended the live version. “Free Bird” particularly the time period I mentioned meet all I mentioned.
@@crafty1096 I disagree though. Their first experience should be the album version. They should always hear that first. I've seen live versions that don't capture the song very well. I've seen live versions worse than the album.
Chris Bowman There are a few songs that are done by reaction channels that have done Live versions before album versions. “Love Hate Love” by Alice In Chains at the Moore. “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath, “Queen” the “Live Aid Performance” and “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd in the 1970s. Usually it’s the Oakland Coliseum performance or Knebworth. There are done other groups or performances that are better to see the Live Version but those are some of the biggest ones.
When I was little I'd listen to this song over and over again I never got tired of it. Sometimes I'll listen to it still over and over its a great song like sweet home Alabama and freebird.
I love your reactions as the song plays! Not so much when its over cuz you're just reading... BUT your facial expressions that you make as it plays are the same as me! Keep up the GOOOOOOOOOD WORK!
The first time Al Kooper (who was their first real producer and produced "Pronounced") heard this was at a rock club in Tallahassee. Skynyrd was one of two bands playing that night. The first was a hard rock boogie band and the crowd ws jumping. Skynyrd then took the stage at the other end of the floor and started Simple Man, and everyone turned their way and the place went completely quiet. Kooper said he had never seen anything like it. Simple Man states a philosophy for all time; we can sure use it today
I so agree John, it seems like there's so many folks in this string that just don't get it. It's sad they don't see or get the message of this song. Every time they did it live VanZant would say how special it was to him. The "One more from the road" live album version was incredible, in my opinion the best he ever sounded before the crash. It never sounded the same again. There's a message there as well, you're probably the only one besides myself in this string who gets that message.
Listening to the Alice Copper radio show one night I learned a fun tidbit. When Skynrd was still a garge band their lead singer got a regular job, deciding to go with that rather than stick with the band. They put up advertisement for a new singer. Van Zant came to their garage to audition. He had quite a serious reputation about town for beating up people who offended. The reason they gave him the position was out of fear of being beat up later on. As it turns out the best decision they made for the band though.
My mother dedicated this song to me when I was 10. It meant a lot to me then. Even more so now more than ever. She told me that she wanted me to pay close attention to this song
The people across the street usually play Spanish music, but one afternoon I heard one of the girls serenading her uncle with an a capella version of "Simple Man". That's what I call, "wide appeal".
The opening phrase on guitar was my ringtone for many years, it always made me smile when I got a call. This is also a song I won't learn or do in karaoke because I'd get choked up too easily. I feel this one too deep to ever perform it.
Old Griz molly hatchet , winters brothers band hole in the bottom of my shoe , small band never made it real big as to the winters brothers band that are older
Interesting fact about this song: it had a more intricate bassline, since it was written and played by Ed King, who normally played lead guitar for the band. I have met Ed King and talked to him many times... he was very active in my FB guitar group until his death last year.

Funny prince patrick how my black brothers have that blues dna in them. Y’all started rock and roll blues country etc. It’s y’alls music

"The Breeze"..Take it from a truck driver this is the best song for heading out on the highway.
More single mamas need to have a talk about this to their sons AND daughters about this subject
If more sons listened to this song and took it to heart, there would be LESS single mamas to begin with.
