There are a number of people and recording artists who have covered this song, but none like you... you sir nailed it, not only with your vocals but your solo/lick in the middle, all I can say is wow. Thanks for sharing.
This version is a beautiful cover and tribute to Glen Campbell. Really well done. I once heard a live version of John Hartford singing his song and playing banjo, Benny Martin on fiddle, Sam Bush on mandolin, and Buddy Emmons on pedal steel that was an absolutely amazing performance. Hartford was a treasure; a true poet.
For a second, I thought I was listening to an episode of Pop Goes The Country or Country Road TV where the best ever to sing or pick it, and one of my fellow native Arkansan's, the great and incomparable Glen Campbell was nailing it again . Your cover, both the picking and the singing are absolutely outstanding, and second only to Glen himself. I thank you for this wonderful and most joyful pleasure to my ears, that have been appreciating and loving great music and artists for 67 years. Thank you young Man, consider yourself one of those special artists. I wish you all the success in the world. Good luck, Country Music needs a lot more artists like yourself.
Beautifully done...so relaxed and I know the difficulty of this song lyrically...trying to remember the order took me 6 months! True Story for you: When Glenn Campbell died, my wife told me right away when she heard because I am a huge fan of his since I was 5. In my grief, I took my guitar and went to my outside patio and sang/played Gentle On My Mind for some reason. My patio doors were closed and my wife opened the door about a minute after I had finished playing ( I was sitting there totally sad and stunned) and said, " Your Brother is on the phone". We live 5 hours from each other. He asked me what I was doing and I said, " Playing guitar on the patio"...he said, " Gentle on My Mind?"...I responded "Yeah, how did you know?" he said "Uh...I just guessed completely"...I said, " I guess you heard the news?"...He responded" WHAT NEWS?"....he had no idea that Glenn had passed away and he had NEVER heard me play Gentle on My Mind as I had only just learned it. Had he known he would have guessed "Galveston" because THAT was my favorite song of his. I believe Glenn's spirit was telling me that he was okay.
I just want to thank the RUclips algorithm for introducing me to this. I thought it was Glen himself singing at first. And then you killed the guitar solo like Glen would have. Holy mackerel.
With all the wars and natural disasters in the World its good to forget everything and enjoy lovely music and songs like this. Thank you guys for sharing with us. 👌
One of the best covers I’ve ever heard. Guitar break is very true to Glen’s guitar work and the accompaniment on rhythm and drums is very tight. Great work on all accounts.
The guitar solo in the middle of this version makes it more than brilliant ... so authentic! Congratulations on what is the best version of this classic from Glen that I have heard!
Wow 😮 Was looking up Glen Campbell covers but was not expecting this! Why aren't you on the Grand Ole Opry and a household name?! You are a legend already.
Hey man, I’ve listen to this song a lot. It’s one of my all time favourite country pieces and no one has attempted glens solo hardly, let alone got pretty damn close to it. Also, your voice is superb! Really love this cover. Thanks for sharing it with us
Beautiful. My grandfather used to remember my grandmother every time he heard this song. Brought back special memories for him. Me too. Love this version.
This is one of the best live covers of this song I've ever heard. It is very inspiring. Glen Campbell's 1/16 note lead through several bars is pretty tough. Thanks for posting.
So many great and wonderful comments on this superb cover of this Country Classic. I, like I'm sure every person who had the pleasure to watch and listen to this video, and took the time to express their appreciation of what I will have to agree, is quite possibly one of the best, if not the best covers of this Glen Campbell and John Hartford collaboration. I am thoroughly impressed. I'm not a musician, but I do know a great performance when I hear/see one, and this was one of the most moving cover's of any song I have had the absolute pleasure to take in. I think you three gentlemen with a righteous break, are gonna go places. Good luck to all three of you. You look so comfortable and professional together. So relaxed and at ease. Stage presence! Good luck, and God's speed to you.
Best cover of Gentle on my mind I've ever heard. You did a great job on the break, and you have the voice to sell records. You guys work great together.
You did an amazing job and that's all you never did mess it up or nothing you sound just like Glen Campbell when he was young I'm very proud you did a good job thank you Pat
There are loads of covers of loads of songs on RUclips, but very, very few "measure up". This one however, certainly does! Mr Campbell himself would be mighty proud of this performance. Bravo!
I love Glen Campbell and you did this beautifully !!! Thank you for sharing Antonio ! Well done --- Linda Corscadden, President, BC Country Music Assoc
Good cover. The camera could have meandered over for close-ups of the drummer and second guitar player - but I suppose the guy in the middle owns the spotlight. Great work on the second guitar.

Just discovered today, this is my favourite version now.
Fantastic cover!!
I think Glenn would give you a big thumbs-up and a smile!
@@jonathanstephens1551 There is no doubt Glen Campbell had the most successful cover of this wonderful John Hartford song.
Holy Hell!!!☝️☝️☝️☝️👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Glen smiling down on this indeed!!! 👏👏👏💯💯💯
Thanks man!!
Aside from Glen Campbell’s recording of this, I have never in 66 years heard anyone do it better. Thank you.
John Hartford wrote this song in 1966 which was 57 years ago.
John Hartford could play the hell out of that song.

One of best written songs in all of recorded music!! You sir pulled this arrangement off flawlessly 🙂🙂 Makes my ears smile!
There are 13 very strange people out there who don’t like this! In my humble opinion this is one of the best, I really love it. Well done everyone.
