0:53 First time I've seen that buff utilized at high level. I legit think some people are sleeping on Ryu. People say like he's irrelevant when Akuma and Ken exist without realizing he's pretty much a blend between those two. A character that's both explosive and stable. That hard part is navigating both styles as needed.
@@Apocalypse754 agree. ryu is solid but you have to play the knowledge game , i found many options that let him have good oki for few resources , but still is casino mishima sometimes , and in the corner is just tough
@@Apocalypse754 It's still such a reductive reasoning. Why do people play Kimberly when Cammy has the same gameplan, but better? Why play Manon when Gief has the same gameplan, but better? If fighting games were always about brutal efficiency, character variety would plummet even in casual levels. We actually saw that happening in SFV when Luke was not only miles better than every other shoto, but also every other S tier. Some people still didn't switch though. TL;DR There will always be a better character. If the gap isn't _that_ big then the point is moot because the variety is a good thing for the game.
@@PyroInferno110 agree , but the game itself becomes so aggressive the higher you go its shows how much of a better player you have to be with ryu. As a low masters player i reallt struggle with putting effective pressure without getting absolutely outclass by other characters moves. I still got alot to learn but i feel the character you choose have a great impact how easy the journey is on this game.
@@joukeronex7083 it doesn't really become aggressive. It becomes much more slow paced like usual when you play against better players. I don't know what MR you are, but you are watching two players who are above 2K MR play a lot of neutral and footsies with some sf6 involved. Characters you choose always have a great impact in how your journey is throughout a fighting game. But Ryu was never really easy to win with in the first place in SF games. Gotta have a strong fundamental game to win with him since he is very basic.
@@PyroInferno110 Yeah you're right...i find that with Ryu you have to have a strong footsies and anti-air game and then use those to get the knockdown and then apply pressure/steamroll and I guess you say the same of most characters, but it's a definite with Ryu.You can't just neutral skip as well as other characters and he doesn't have many real tricks or knowledge checks.
@@joukeronex7083I understand 100% bro I play Ryu and it’s very difficult to deal with some of the other characters shenanigans at high levels. YOU have to play so much better than them just because of your character. I started using Rashid and I just mow ppl down because he can do so more in terms of neutral , pressure, etc that it’s so easy coming from a Ryu lol
2:25 secs till end of match: That's called "playing with your food". Man. Ryu really needs to be buffed with new tools badly. The results would have been pretty one directional if Punk wasn't playing around and testing.

Generally speaking when people say that, they recognize ryu is fine but why pick him when 2 other shotos are clearly better options.

Majority of ranked matches are basically just how much you grind tbh
Nice shit paladin making ryu look actually playable when on the rigth hands under the chaos of this damn game
he is playable though. Especially this season with the buffs he got.

That first round was 🔥
Great Match and great players! 👍🏽🤣
amazing mind games, great set
This is insane. Even on burnout Paladins pressures with Ryu into Akuma’s face.

That Capcom Cup qualifier from last year probably still lingering in his mind lol
You should add my set vs paladin a few days ago it was intense.. Day 1 modern Luke vs paladin ryu.
Paladin it’s the best!
