- Last weekend we went to the best library in the world in 2019 according to International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA). Oodi library is located in the city center of Helsinki and it is available to everyone. Even if you are just visiting Helsinki, you can come there, read some children books with your kids, browse a magazine, enjoy the view and delicious food and drinks.
If your country has a cool library, please let us know! We would like to visit it one day too.
TRANSPORTATION
It is located right in the city center on the Kansalaistori. It is a few hundred meters away from the Central Railway Station and metro.
FOOD
There are 2 cafes: on the first floor you can enjoy baked goods and drinks with a lunch options; on the third floor there is just a cafe, but with a stunning view. Vegan options available in both cafes.

I visited Oodi Library last year and I love everything about it. It was one of my favorite things in Helsinki.

Здорово! Архитектура впечатляет. Чувствуется что Хельсинки живет в 21 веке и не жалеет денег для самообразования своих жителей! Это та достопримечательность Хельсинки, которую хочется посетить. Кстати, сколько стоит читательский билет?
Читательский билет бесплатный! По-моему только при оформлении билета берут взнос за сам кусочек пластика. И всё. Билет действует во всех библиотеках столичного региона.

This was so amazing - didn't know it even existed! I loved many of the features. Like the sewing mashines! A very informative video, again - thanks a lot! And your little son who loved the tractor best in the book - is so cute, and so genuine, so I really could relate.
The lines of the building are extraordinary, like smooth waves on the main entrance side; and the huge wooden surfaces lighten/warm up all that cold-surfaced glass - that's a very Finnish mixture for sure, but not cosy.
Mikä on tunnelma siellä Oodissa sisällä - onko siellä autio olo? Ja miten niin isossa tilassa löytää hiljaisuutta ja rauhallisuutta? Esimerkiksi Malmöössä suuressa lasikuutiossa tunnelma on kuin rautatieasemalla ja vastakohtana löytyy vain muutamia "luolia" joissa ei ole lainkaan päivänvaloa. Eniten pidän siellä perinteellisistä kirjahylly-tiiveistä osastoista vanhassa osassa.
malmo.se/stadsbiblioteket The old Malmö City Library looks like a fairy tale castle - the new addition like a glass cube - in the latter they have tried to arrange facilities for studying, but there is no silence nor peace. The beautiful view over the little pond is not accessible for the people walking in the park, so the photographer must have taken some liberties. Thank you! The feeling inside is very nice. Top floor is being called book lover heaven))) it is spacious and bright. Middle floor with sewing machines for work is a bit hectic, but I found reading room which were very quite and comfortable.
I like the way your library looks like. Beautiful castle! But it is also important to create an atmosphere of peace and comfort for reading.
