- Horror's Hallowed Grounds: Episode 10 - Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988). So, the craziest job we ever said yes to from Scream Factory was working on "Halloween: The Complete Collection." Not only were we trying to knock out three new HHG episodes for it but we also agreed to do the bulk of the bonus features for the release as well. We absolutely worked our asses off on that release and bit off almost more than we could chew. Buz and I took a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah and spent close to a week there filming episodes for Halloween 4, Halloween 5 & Halloween 6. It was a mammoth undertaking but such a fun trip. I never realized Sherriff Meeker was embezzling from the town treasury. Man that is a huge Scrooge McDuck style mansion he lives in. Couldn't tell from the movie. Also, Loomis calls the ambulance "the bus" because it was originally scripted as a bus and they couldn't modify the dialogue due to the writers strike.
Love Halloween 4!! Right behind the original as my favorite of the series. Thank you for doing these, I enjoy them so, so much!!!

Cool stuff! Glad the owner of the Carruthers home was gracious enough to let you in! Strange the realtors didn't disclose the house's history though. I would assume having been used extensively in an iconic film franchise would elevate its value/price tag considerably.
Some people don't want the attention when looking for a home to live in. Look at the home from Breaking Bad. People are throwing pizzas up on the roof routinely.
It's also Utah and a lot of people are more religious/conservative and wouldn't want a house that was used as a set for a slasher horror movie. I moved out here 15 years ago and just because I wore all black, a couple women assumed I was Satanic. 🙄 it's quite different out here. It's better but still different.

This movie was pretty good, didn’t see it when it was released (and I was out of college and bit younger😒) but I liked it when I finally did see it. I like it even more now and I dig the Vincent drug store scene...I would’ve never guessed it was filmed in Utah...Cool to see all the filming locations Sean. Thanks!
Seen this video a couple times now.... love Halloween 4 and without a doubt best opening credits ...gets you right into the season and you can feel something sinister coming....best Halloween atmosphere and vibe and best cast in the franchise ...just one terrible mask lol....killer videos so well done brother...and wicked Loomis impression man love it!! This is pretty cool, I live in Ogden and didn’t realize so much of these movies were filmed here, a lot of sandlot was filmed here as well, they also filmed a scene from Yellowstone with kevin Costner at one of my favorite local restaurants, pretty cool stuff!

Lots of people don’t like this movie but, despite the mask- it was a damn good continuation.
I’m glad it wasn’t left to be the only story line to be built off of, the mystery of Halloween is either the original, or what movies you choose to be building blocks for the story that you deem worthy.
Gonna press play on this video now and I already know I’ll enjoy it. The intro to this movie with the somber, cold backdrop was great. I love this movie. And to be fair about the mask(I know, long comment) how is one supposed to find the exact same mask in a shop 10 years later?! Good enough finding one close enough.

When you live in Utah and been everywhere Halloween 4 has been shot (almost) and never realize it on top of being a major Halloween fan lol.
You're very fortunate to have been able to visit all these places from this iconic movie I for one envy you because this is definitely one of my favorite horror films of all time. Still remember seeing it exactly 5 days before the date in the movie when I was 8 year's old. Nothing like the good ol days. Also I can't believe everything lines up exactly the way it was 32 years ago it's amazing.
It was great to see Loomis smile in this when the old man starting singing, yes we'll gather at the river. The two others were in Halloween, when he scared the kids, "hey Lonnie get your ass away from there"! And lastly in Halloween 5, when the dead rat came down the laundry shoot in the basement. 🎃🔪🕵
Halloween 4 was an example of a really good yet bad movie, some scenes worked well whereas others were cringe worthy, your video was good though & informative as always, cheers!

I actually almost worked on this film but it didn’t happen, then I ended up working on Halloween 5 instead, I made all the fake butcher knives and safety knives! I hardly have anything left these days, it’s kind of a bummer. I have a handful of weapons out of the hundreds I made for Stargate. I have all the original drawings and production designs my boss did, for Phantasm 2, of all of the deadly spheres we created for that film! I also have his crew jacket, a script, Don Coscarelli’s personal P2 movie poster, and some other stuff. That was the first film I ever worked on in ‘87, I was only 15 at the time, it was nuts! I used to have stuff from Men in Black, Independence Day, Broken Arrow, T 2, Ghost of Mars, Alive, Army of Darkness, Intruder, Abyss, and a bunch of other movies too. I’m actually surprised our paths have never crossed! My band used to play all over southern Ca at places like Goodies/369, Stardust, the Shack, Anti club, Al,s bar to name a few and I was in the FX scene for years. I worked with a lot of the dudes you know haha! Maybe one day we’ll run into each other! Cheers🍻☠️💀🎃

Kinda like the people who used to own the Night of the Living Dead 90 Farm, they would allow people to come onto the property and then they sold it...The new owners are not at all happy with visitors or filming.

2:54 In the special features of the DVD, the director said it originally was a bus that crashed but they changed it to an ambulance but the dialogue in the script stayed the same.

Good look at the locations. I remember seeing the scene with the overturned ambulance and being disappointed. Been into trains since I was 2, and I knew that was a railroad bridge in the background. At one point during the scene, there was clearly the sound of the horn of an Amtrak passenger train approaching, and they didn't show it going past in the background.

Nice video... this movie was remarkable, as well as the places visited where epic scenes took place, like the 2 scenes of the stairs with Brad's fight and Jamie's possession which in my opinion is one of the most incredible movie endings, the movie in general was amazing.

Wooow! H4 is a dam good episode in the series, revamp music, sharper editing, great camera work. As always you've done a dam fine job in covering the locations sir. I watched H4 so many times on VHS back in the day🎉 and it was a fresh approach to a Halloween movie. I did notice the burn scar on Donald's face change in the movie, years later on the commentary track it mentions a crew member points out it looks like a fried egg on his face😂. I enjoy seeing how film locations have changed over the years or stayed the same... All the best from the uk👍🏼

God I love seeing these locations videos on the Scream factory Blu-rays and saying to myself I used too buy Halloween videos from this guy in the late 90s and still today I those VHS. It was also great meeting Sean at it a horror con in MN back in 2010 and have a sign pic of him. I just say if I did not find his website back in the 90s I would have never gotten into the Halloween movies like I now do so I thank Sean for that.

Back in 88 i had a pirate video tape of H4,a test cut that was if i remember correctly was a tiny bit different in places,i didn’t buy it,it somehow found it’s way too me. I loved this movie so much after watching it that i went H4 crazy. I more than made up for watching that pirated copy in way of getting everything i could once it was finally released here in the U.K.
I paid £75 for the big box rental vhs the day of its release which the police thought I’d stolen (not returned to the rental store) until i showed them the receipt which was kept in the box behind the cover
