  • I share some of the things I wish I knew before buying a large format printer. Specifically, this is a review of Epson SureColor P6000 for artists. I am a full-time professional artist. I make my prints from home and have cats. So this review also discusses issues that arise from having a large format printer and pets.

    All valid points. As a photographer who owns a studio, I must be able to provide work daily and can't wait for prints to be ordered as well as I completely want to own what I market. I have used Epson printers for over 10 years and am about to the point of replacing my P7000 with the P7570 since I am seeing a few issues with the P7000 mostly due to use. As far as ink, I never use expired ink, I also only use Epson inks to insure the security of my workhorse printer.

      Hi Chris, owner or epson 7900 here, would you mind sharing your experience with the p7000 and the reasons to go with the p7570? If you've purchased it already, would you mind sharing your thoughts on it so far? Much thanks!

    I'm an Artist and I really REALLY want to purchase a large format to use in my art studio BUT, I'm not sure of what brand to use. I paint land and seascapes in oil paint so being able to match all of the colors is what I'm concerned about. Print on-demand shops SUCK!

    • @KrystleColeArt
      @KrystleColeArt  8 месяцев назад

      I agree, print on demand is really bad if you're trying to get exact color matches. But honestly, any printer that is a photo quality printer will work. Where the color matching is controlled is really when you configure your colors in Photoshop after you photograph your painting and before you print. I made a video about color matching ruclips.net/video/Eod-MgCcVxI/видео.html

    I’m thinking of buying a used epson surecolor 6000. I use hp large formats right now. From 11x17 all the way to 46 inch. But my printers can’t go past 11 mil thick material. But the surecolor 6000 can. N for $500-$1000… but can u refill the T804 ink cartridges at home?

    • @KrystleColeArt
      @KrystleColeArt  27 дней назад

      No, the ink cartridges cannot be refilled. But the ink is fairly affordable when it comes to pigment based ink if you buy direct from Epson. You can buy large cartridges, which cuts the per print ink cost down.

  • @CoryHatfield
    @CoryHatfield 4 года назад

    I have been looking into buying a commercial grade printer for movie and album cover art. I make a lot of compact cassette and VHS tapes for a side-hobby. The hp inkjet printer I use currently has gotten to be a little uneconomical my purposes.
    On ink life... I'm sure the tiny carts I use are way different from yours, but I find they vary wildly on the amount of prints I'll get out of them. This is partly why I'm looking to upgrade.

    Please note: fish are a lot warmer and loving pets than they are given credit for. Sea monkeys are also underrated. Just pointing out adorable little pets that are very compatible with expensive equipment. Of course these pets don't apply to your needs. And your cats would likely "play" with fish. Quite interesting information. Thank you dear.

    Thank you for the great advice. I didn't realize you need 4 people to move it. Also, it is good news that the ink lasts a long time. You say you have not had to change it in about 2 years. What size prints do you print with it and how many would you say you have done over the two year span?

    • @kwisclubta7175
      @kwisclubta7175 Год назад

      According to her (since she clearly doesn't actually give a shit about responding and helping people), in a 6-month period she only printed ~20 prints (she doesn't bother to say what size - as if that's important, right? 🤣). That's 3 1/3 prints per month! Regardless of print size, that's small beans! To suggest that a set of inks for this printer would last a typical person (i. e. a person who will actually use their printer) 2 years is incredibly misleading.
      FFS, she started off her video stating how shocked she was that the LARGE -FORMAT PRINTER she bought was actually large! Don't ask for any advice from such people. Go find someone who knows what TF is going on.

    Find something really smelly that you like - Eucalyptus or Lavender usually work. Animals use smell to find prey or smell predators. Here in Australia lavender plants even keeps snakes away. My girlfriends cat used to tear tissues out of the box everyday - Got a box of Eucalyptus tissues - No more problems - Best of luck.

    Hello, I love this video. 1 main question.. I'm just like you, I'm a digital artist and I draw and print out my work to sell downtown, but I'm paying alot to get them printed and framed. 3,500 dollars is alot for a printer so is this still today working out for you, cost wise, maintenance and business.. please contact me. I need just some words of wisdom. Thanks

    • @KrystleColeArt
      @KrystleColeArt  3 года назад +1

      The P6000 is working out for me, but it depends on how much larger art you're selling whether it would be a good investment for you. You might consider getting an Epson P800. They're only $1000 and can print up to 17" wide. Its a great printer to get started with, and it's the one I use for most of my prints that I sell.

    "The ink lasts a long time. These cartridges I bought have lasted me for two years!"
    Five seconds later "The original tiny cartridges that came with the printer lasted me six months! I got at least 20 prints out of them!"
    No wonder that shit is lasting so long! You're only printing 3 1/3 prints per month??? Even if the prints are large, that ain't shit! Obviously, if you're not putting out production, you're not going to use ink. You're probably going through more ink with the cleaning cycles than you're actually putting to paper!

    • @garyrowe58
      @garyrowe58 Год назад

      Each ink cartridge will have its own lifespan depending on the colours in your artwork. One colour might bit only used a little and another almost empty, from normal use.
      Also, using 70cl cartridges, there's very little waste ink, so although they're expensive, they're much better value than small cartridges.
