The highlight has to be the picture you had with the younger generation, it’s sports persons like you, Wiggins and Chris Boadman that has inspired myself and others to get into cycling 👍🏻
Raced the first 2 weeks of these and couldn’t get a spot for the final 2 weeks so a shame to miss you! Great event, really well organised and run. Think a large part of it is the ability to easily draw people from London and have a safe TT without needing to travel too far to get there. V friendly atmosphere and welcoming which helps the popularity and accessibility. Would love to see a monthly series or something Lee Valley could look at organising as well
The “old” Eastway circuit used to host Tuesday night 10s all through the summer months. Those races were always well attended although you could entry on the line. Great to see the resurgence of road bikes in TTs, even back in the early 90s the ratio was more like 90% aero bars against 10% classic road bike. Good luck at the Nationals.
Awesome video! Really impressed with the way you chat with everyone and let the youngsters (and just the average riders) know they are really important. You are a great ambassador for the sport in general! If you're down in Devon again this year, try calling in for the Poole Wheelers 10 on a Wednesday evening for a club 10 on a safe road course that is really well supported and really friendly....
Well done Alex a great performance and your ride was good as-well 😄 You have such a great attitude and so welcoming with not just the juniors but everyone. Really nice how people speak to you as-well which shows how people relate to you and feel they can chat which is awesome. Keep bringing the content it's fantastic 🙏
I'm super impressed with this idea, and the way you break down the walls to pro cyclists by interviewing the other riders. For most amateurs, meeting pro cyclists is very intimidating. Like when Gearing came to Auckland and rode with local shop riders, he was a great ambassador for the sport, and that's how most of us see you. You've been terrific for the sport, both during, and definitely since retiring. Keep up the great work.
I started time trialling in 1977 at 13 and often did two club tens some weeks, they were free in those days. Good luck in the National 100 against the legend that is Joe Skipper!
Absolutely brilliant the road bikes are popular reminds me of my old days in the late 70s looks such a safe venue to ride no wonder its popular great content Alex keep it going.
If you enjoy this come try the a3crg events at Goodwood motor circuit! Open event rather than club but sounds like a very similar vibe! And only 4 laps rather than 10! 😂
I’d imagine the cost would be to do with track hire compared to (what appears to be) open roads for things like other 10’s that you have done on this channel
I love the comparison to Parkrun. When thinking about what Parkrun has done for running participation levels, something similar would be incredible for cycling and the TT scene in particular which really needs a boost in participation at the moment. Makes you wonder what is possible.
It’s the club 10, a lot of clubs have them on mid week evenings on quiet roads, couple of quid entry to keep the club alive. Nothing globally organised though sadly and I don’t know how that’d work with open roads
@@AlexDowsettOfficial Yeah, club 10s are brill, but sadly don’t seem to appeal on the same level as say a Parkrun - possibly still too many barriers, safety on the open roads probably one of the bigger ones? Would be incredible to have regular Parkrun-esque TTs; closed circuits, free to enter, totally open/inclusive irrespective of background, equipment, ability etc, points scored for every one you complete, rewards for milestones etc. Run them at cycle parks, racing tracks, go-kart tracks, airfields etc. Would need some hefty financial backing, but so does Parkrun. Just needs somebody influential to spearhead the movement! ;)
Great Video, looking forward to the 100mile TT video, isn‘t Joe Skipper racing it as well? And did you test the helmet with and without visor or why you rode without, what is the difference in aerodynamics?
I’ve got a big head, if I wear the visor it scratches my eyeballs and thankfully on me no visor is faster. The tempor is fast, but it is (clue is in the name) temporamental, slightly out of place on me and I may as well wear a ventilated road helmet. Worth noting this is specific to me, some see huge gains, and better resilience to movement, I don’t. Onto a poc procen now so I can look around a bit more 😂
you should make the trip upto Croft for the come and try it Time Trials - its great being on a legit race track. Usually loads of entries including kids
my experience is CTT events = ~20 quid, local events through Facebook = ~5, this was up in Glasgow. We also had a local event regularly go up to about 60 riders.
It’s fun to see shots where he is riding past other skill level cyclists. Solo videos don’t look that fast…. But put a recreational rider in the picture and Alex looks like a rocket ship .
Will you be on a shiv for the 100m TT?. Good luck and welcome back to Norfolk, scene of your TT Triumph at sandringham. Shame can't come and watch you as its the Holkham outlaw triathlon. Pop over if you have time. Don't know who will go best out of you or Skipper but there are others.
Enjoyed that, Alex, a great video with you just being a cycling enthusiast but also inspiring these youngsters so much! I am sorry though, but again your Dad steals the show! In my head I’m seeing the owner of the flashy ground scraping Mustang being all smug seeing the fella in dodgy shorts ogling his car, while not even realising the man’s motor racing pedigree! 😂😂🏁🏁
Would be nice but they're few and far between. My local rep(a long time friend too) said I'd be lucky to get one in 6 months while I was shopping for bikes.
@@veganpottertheveganon the other hand, you can get a Hanzo in a week. I don’t understand the bike industry. A Shiv or P5 is almost impossible to get. I guess Factor has the advantage of owning their factory and can build more or less to fill demand.
My TT series is dwindling where I am, and the aero categories are even less competitive than ever before. The cost of entry into TT is too high, if you don't have an "old" rim brake bike already you're done. So, the non-aero categories are now competitive. And what's more fun, the fastest times there are done by people on regular road bikes, nothing super aero/cheater style. I'm riding my rim brake tt into the ground.
can i recommend a cool thing for you, it's a light when you spin your wheels they light up (like tron!) night ize in the brand. great that you post fun events like this big share!
Legend, competing, and catching up with the Juniors, looking after the sport. Keep up the great work.
I genuinely love a guy who has won a stage of the giro asking the two youg guys for advice
What a dude.

I used to attend those events, while at uni, probably some of my most enjoyable TT's
What a lovely event. Nice to see all sorts of bikes and people there. Thanks for sharing.

Crazy to see how fast Alex is compared to other “normal” people that were already plenty fast

If you want to ride the circuit (not as part of an organised event) it’s just £7 for a session. Turn up, pay and ride. Great fun!

Used to do that TT10 with CC Hackney colours on. Tao and his brother used to regularly come along and humble us.

Jeeze, the only registration we have under $20 in the US is for ar15s. I'd love to have race fees that low
There aren't even any TTs available near me, but sprint distance triathlons are ~$100 here.
It’s refreshing to see those kids you were talking to. They’re the future of the sport! (I mean - they’re already here…you know what I mean)

ctt 10s are typically 14£ at the moment. Evening club 10s are typically 4£ to cover the levy.
Great video.. What Oakleys are you wearing?
Great video as always Alex. @12.12 i guess you took the advice of the juniors on no brakes and just lean more? 🤣🤣
Most of that cost is covering hire of the circuit for the evening and the timing system. Neither are cheap.

Have you got a link to enter one of these? Looks good!
I’ve ridden this course and the reason road bikes are more common is more likely the technical nature - most Club 10s are boring out and backs right?
What saddle are you using on that bike?

More out there car interludes plz 😂
oh, it will be such an surprise for the juniors to see themselves on a video of an ("former"; are you already?) WT-Pro. But nonetheless fun video!
Is that the new east way crit course
You've gotta love a course where broken collarbones are the norm.
10:37 dad bussing it back ( Y )
Surely the cost is party because there's a cost for upkeep of the circuit, whereas most club 10s are on the public road.
Compare that Colnago tt bike with your specialised shiv once you received it.
Would be nice but they're few and far between. My local rep(a long time friend too) said I'd be lucky to get one in 6 months while I was shopping for bikes.
That wont happen, hes sponsored by specialized
@ryanallen6443 they really wouldn't be bothered so long as it tests slower and it very likely will

I do hope that owning that Mustang makes up for having inadequate parts.

Find your local clubs and ask them!

When I rode 10s back in the 1960s a TT bike was a road bike with more holes, and hub grease replaced with light oil!
Tell Phil he needs to walk round the course a bit for some different angles!
Great vlog cheers
I would loss count on the second lap lol
Lol...the MTB...great stuff
No cars. Makes complete sense.
Think the site costs a fair bit to rent for 3 hours, thus the cost.

Lights on a closed circuit!? Seems a bit unnecessary.
Now in retirement from pro racing you can prepare properly for time trials
Albert update?
I prefer the Alfa 147.
what the heck is a 'club 10' ?
Some young talent's dreams were squashed that day, by a mushroom hat-wearing retired pro with a shark fin on the back of his bike.
JK, looks amazing
It also means they have an ex-national tt champ's times to aim at....
@@jamesmarshall2353 Yup, I'd be stoked myself. Thus, the "JK" ;)

Kids telling you how to ride the TT 😂😂😂🤦♂️
