It sounds like the proximity effect of close miking. Want your voice to sound deeper? Get the mic closer to your mouth. It would have sounded higher tone and less dynamic with the mic at the driver/passenger position.
I'm about to buy this exhaust for my mx5 but I wonder if I need to tune the car because the new exhaust or just remove the stock one and install the new one?
Since the exhaust takes up less space underneath, is the underside aerodynamically affected? Does it create any stability issues at higher speeds? I watched a video of someone installing a Verus rear diffuser and claims it helps with the above issues due to smaller exhausts
A high speeds? Are you trying to shave off some lap times around Silverstone or Monza? There's not going to be any kind of appreciable difference in underbody airflow from a slightly smaller muffler.
Why do ALL people do exhaust recordings wrong. Nobody listens or hears a cars exhaust by kneeling down by it and putting their ear next to it. Think about it.... The mic should be placed from where a human would naturally hear it. The mic should be inside the cabin or if doing outside tests then it should be at about the height and distance of a typical human, not a mouse.
Why would it be comprised? Changing a muffler out has no actual effect on performance. It’s just to make the car louder and more audibly engaging to drive.
@@jgreed5 depending on which part you replace. Headers will effect it but if you tune it and do all important measures it should be fine. If the exhaust is swapped for a straight pipe yes, a naturally aspirated engine will usually lack back pressure and lose some power
Ive got an autoexe(less loud model)titanium(cat delete)mid pipe and skunk2 alpha header and that blow by noise is just normal. Everything on mine is welded(no vbands used) and that noise is there at lower RPM’s.
It’s nice to hear how these exhausts sound with normal every day driving with a few fun pulls
Sounds like there might be a small exhaust leak?
Might be wind noise. Sounds like the mic is attached to the outside of the car
definitely something wrong with the recording.. the audio sounds completely off

This and a multi. Lucky guy.
Thank u! Now I’m not getting the stupid exhaust
Sounds like you had a microphone in completely different locations for each exhaust.. That's not good!
No same location. Not sure what you are referring to specifically. I used an external mic with a wind muff located near the license plate.

Just remove and install. No tune needed.

I think this is too loud for day to day driving.
I am about to get my 2022 Club and wanted to know if this is the race or the super street version?
This is the SuperStreet version - RoadsterSport SuperStreet
@@patrickmcdaniel2220 appreciate it...I think I'll go with this so later I can do the mid pipe, headers and a Versatune
Can you please show me where I can get this? Thank you.

They have several exhaust options for the MX-5.

Hello, whats is your setup??. Do You have only
exhaust? I like the sound, for me is perfect...
are you happy with this? It sounds rough
Very happy - frequently get people stopping by me asking how I got it to sound so good.
it's just the recording.. mic vibrating
@@patrickmcdaniel2220 nice one are they still available ?
Do you think performance has been compromised?

@@jgreed5 NO.
This is pretty bad, sounds like stock exhaust that's falling apart.
It’s only because of where he positioned the mic. It’s not like this is supposed to be a high quality production video lol
Avec une ligne d’échappement inox c'est encore mieux !
You 100% have a massive exhaust leak.
No leaks (I checked) - I think it's just the way it sounds at light throttle or idle, if that's what you're referring to.

Not THAT pleasing. I'm just looking for a "daily
