- A stunning morning out on the river chasing estuary species. The 80mm Prawn Paddle Tail has caught me loads of fish over the years. This is the time to be throwing em around the flats and edges.
The gear I used today included:
3000 Shimano Essence BB spinning reel with 8lb PowerPro Slick 8 line
80mm Squidgy Prawn Paddle Tail in Estuary Prawn colour.
Squidgy S-Factor
Also, I mentioned Brad Smith's Fishing Charters... It is a great way to go if you're wanting to learn the tricks for local waterways.
Plenty more Estuary fishing to come ;)
There is nothing more authentic in an Aussie fishing video than the Aussie accent itself...😅😃
“ he shook it off”! love it mate.
smithy is one of the best blokes I've ever met, i went for a charter with him and made a great friend
Such a fantastic bloke to have in the fishing world
@@mylurebox i totally agree, im flying up to chase some jacks with him in the summer
Brad Smith is an amazing guide. Did a day on the Tweed with him. Had a great day and learned things I use almost every time I go fishing.
Great to hear Peter. Cheers mate
Surprise surprise, the same action as ten years ago still working.. 😆
Great stuff John I love the squiggies too.
Long time favourites Jason ;)
Weeee.. softlure superb
Well done great fishing and info cheers
Great video John, I finally got a chance to use the new mussel lure yesterday, 3rd cast, 28 cm bream, next cast , busted off by a bigger bream, I was fishing wooden pylons and wharfs, will definitely be getting some more, so thanks for the mussel video, definitely helpful, great work John,
That’s great going mate ;) such a cool concept hey. Damn effective in the right spots too
Good video John 👍
Cheers. I’m loving that Spinning rod mate. It’s epic on the flatties ;)
Nice one mate. I've been getting into the bream on the smaller squidgie prawn models around the bridges in the lake when im to lazy to put the boat in. They always go well.
Yep. Those little prawn curl tails are one of my favourites too
Squidgie make some great plastics😀
But those who remember the 70mm flickbait in flash prawn colour will undeniably confirm they were the greatest soft plastic squidgies ever released. Why on earth they ever stopped making that model and colour is beyond me. Another great video John as always
Cheers mate. I agree they’ve had so many long term winners!
Hey John, are you doing the Flatty Classic again this year mate. If so good luck... enjoyed the last one you did. Also have you seen the new Shimano World Range of lures with the reflective foil inside, I know it's not a new concept but sure to grab the attention of a few fish and anglers alike.
Yeah mate. I’m gonna be doing the classic this year so excited to get up there and have a crack. It often gets super windy which poses a few challenges with my little Tinnie but there’s so many spots to try, there’s always somewhere to hide out and find a bite fingers crossed.
These are my go to plastic but in the bloodworm colour. 👌
Great to hear Aaron ;) I’ll have to give that colour a run for sure. Cheers
Nice video John!
Cheers Mick. ;)
There a great lure well priced too👍
For sure mate. And easy to find.
@@mylurebox not any more since they changed them. Every Anaconda store use to sell them but seems like they aren't anymore.
Hi John - top video as always!
I noticed in the vid you're using a Murasame 722M. I just got one of these myself, but I'm a little bit unsure about it so far. I think the action might be too fast for anything other than single-hook plastics, and the rod seems to be balanced quite poorly for reel sizes under 4000. Even though it's supposed to be one of the lightest rods out there, it feels quite heavy in the hand due to the front-heavy balance.
Have you had yours long, and what do you think about it? I need to put more time into it - maybe it'll grown on me :)
Hey mate. I’ve been fishing mine for about 3months and mostly just sending plastics on the flats for flatties with it. I’m really happy with it myself. I’ve got a 3000 on it. The sensitivity is great for feeling bites. I have been looking at the higher end rods after hearing people rep em. I’ve never really ventured into that realm so maybe I’m not around what I’m missing at this point. Always keen to keep learning with trying more eh. It does feel funny going between rods at times I reckon.
@@mylurebox Maybe you're right - if I put a bit more time into the rod and get used to it, I'll grow to like it more. Catching a few fish with it would certainly help ;)
Thanks for the reply & have a good one! 🙂
Hi John, love to see a review on the eco gear zx40, unreal fish taker but the hooks that come with it are too small and you just lose fish, i put bigger Atomic assist hooks on them, beats the plastics most times and cast a mile,.
I’ve been meaning to give em more and more time mate. They’ve been coming out more and more with Tommy on board to help him get his distance casts eh.
Great vid! What's the jig head you are using here?
Hi Jeremy. These are TT 1/4oz 2/0 tournament heads ;)
He john, love them squidgies, where do you get them from around the gc?
Hi Deron, I saw loaded this morn at Anaconda Burleigh. I’d say most or all stores will have em though. They’re a go-to. ;)
Legend..👍🏼
Great stuff Tony :)
@@mylurebox loveyaworkbruz..🙏🏽
Where can i buy those soft bait? I live in in the US btw.😊
Hey John what would be the best flathead lures for like 50-60cm
The lures this month and next on my channel will be all about it Archer :)
@@mylurebox thanks John was thinking of starting a RUclips I’d it worth it and do u like doing RUclips
