    Love my 97 Rivvy, a modern head turner in 2024 that generates questions and puzzlement. 😉

    Great vid thanks for posting it, love these comprehensive retro vids. Definitely was ahead of its time, I believe it was built on the same platform as the Olds Aurora. Hard to believe that 1996 was 22 years ago.

    The standard six passenger configuration in the 1995-1999 Buick Riviera is pretty hard to find these days. They're very rare.

    I currently have a 91’ Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue. But as a second daily driver when I can afford it and have room. I’m getting me one of these! This video sold me on one.

      I have a fairly customized but tastefully modded 1990 Honda Civic SI with a gsr integra engine and tranny swap. Couldn't be more different than this car. But I only bought it because I couldn't find a good one of these anywhere as I was looking for either this or a Ford SVT CONTOUR first.
      I finally have found one of these in good condition at a price I can afford. But the interior is that maroon colour that I really don't like.
      However Im 70% sure I'm going to buy it anyways as these cars in good condition are getting harder and harder to find.
      I've been in love with this car for six years now.
      I really lovey 90 Civic SI. Get compliments for it all the time.
      But this Riviera had my heart for longer.. to me, it's a "poor man's" bentley continental T

    FYI 3800 engines were after all short block engines, featuring large pistons and short connecting rods, so what ever the horse power was, the torque would be greater, which is how things work in short block engines.

      @Donovan Brewster I have a 1997 supercharged Riviera. Very Quiet, smooth, no rattles. Average around 32-35 mpg on highway at 65mph. GM should bring them back as a new model.

    These really are great looking cars. It's just too bad they didn't come equipped with RWD and a V8

    In 1998, I saw commercial featuring the last riviera, and in that commercial, the voice over says, why buy an suv buy a riviera instead, sales of rivieras plummeted, thanks alot GM your stupid strategy really paid off wow.

    The supercharger adds 15 hp lol

    • @MostlyBuicks
      @MostlyBuicks 8 лет назад +5

      No, 15 hp was added from the 1995 super charged version. The series II supercharged 3800 adds 35 hp over the naturally aspirated series II 3800.
      1995 SC has 225 hp. The non SC series II has 205 hp. And the SC series II has 240 hp.

      And if you put a 3.5 pulley and cold air intake that adds a out 30 stock the series 2 had 5lbs less torque and about 20 less hp a way suckier SC and the series 2 SC are even more sought after than the series 3 supercharged I just bought a pristine stock riviera but had a 99 SC regal stage 2.5 just needed an intercooler cam and slicks with smaller pulley and I could have had it in low 1os or better someone found a gold mine when I put it in a lesabre and broke every mount and blew it up didn't k ow I'd has another one 7 years later but it was taken care of so well I kinda want to keep it stock but I miss that sweet sweet supercharger sound I'm thinking a 3.5 pulley cold air and the header system to dual exhaust but keep the dual exhaust black like stock
