    Like it.
    For me I would put the top two bolts in the wall,
    Then with the bottom plate use a bolt nut as a spacer, then add the plate.

    Thanks Keith for the link to my alternative. I like your design too. It's simpler than mine if you have fewer locations where you want to mount the bracket.

    GENIUS ....Agee with other you should make these and sell them of sell the idea to the maker of the wall mount. I wonder if you can add a spring from the top of the boom to the wall help with the load

      Thanks for the feedback Darren. It's still going strong although I widened the channel just a little bit to deal with heat / cold expansion. Apart from that, no problems.

      blur.bz I just got mine today. I was really intrigued by your set up, but was eager to get it up today.
      Definitely going to keep this set up in mind though. Will probably use it when I moved into a larger studio. 👍🏾👍🏾

      Great! For the record I went back later and drilled the holes a bit bigger. There is no real reason for them to be just the right size for either the large opening or the resting place pin, in fact doing it "tight" is more of a pain than anything else. Now that I've done three plates and 2 light stands I see that there's need for a bit more wiggle room to deal with even small differences between them.

    awesome, you should put these on amazon and etsy and make a few buck. I would buy it for $30

    • @KeiferHunnifordPhotography
      @KeiferHunnifordPhotography  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks Francisco. Still using it a year on. In hindsight I should have been a little LESS of a perfectionist as heating / cooling affects how tight it is. I kinda over engineered in terms of tolerances.

    • @Doc.Saucedo
      @Doc.Saucedo 5 лет назад

      @@KeiferHunnifordPhotography well, i just got a couple of this boom arms, and im still figuring out if i mount them directly to the wall or i follow your lead. Did you tried to do your "device" with the 3 strips of alluminum?

    • @KeiferHunnifordPhotography
      @KeiferHunnifordPhotography  5 лет назад

      @@Doc.Saucedo I did not. I ended up repainting that wall and using that area for natural light portraits so I am not using the booms at all anymore. I do feel like the aluminum strips would work fine and actually better as if they were mounted to a strip of wood with a screw through a slightly slotted hole that would allow for some adjustment. The only issue I had was I routed the channel to such a fine tolerance that temperature change had an impact and when it got hotter I had a hard time removing the boom.

    • @Doc.Saucedo
      @Doc.Saucedo 5 лет назад

      @@KeiferHunnifordPhotography It makes sense ! i wasn´t considering the heat. I´ll have to test the booms for a while directly to the wall and i think ill make the mounting base with alluminum strips later.

    Would you really need that docking plate? If you just used 4 bolts in the wall? It would have a lower profile, right?

    Can someone tell me if this would work with a boom arm for a microphone, and whether the brand name of the arm matters? I have a tiny closet for recording so really need the floor space freed up as well. Thanks!

    Great Job....this video is a sign to me that you have a very high IQ,,,,,,the gauge to understand what an IQ is or isn't: an IQ is not determined by how smart a person is/or isn't, but rather by how a person can figure things out/make things better. Fast/slow/or not a all...Like Duh????..Simply said....being able to figure out that a round stud only fits in a round hole the same size on a board.
