  • Match of the Day 2's Danny Murphy, Phil Jagielka and Mark Chapman discuss the three Nottingham Forest penalty appeals that were turned down during their 2-0 Premier League defeat at Everton.
    Murphy says that the VAR "bottled" challenging the referee's on-field decision to deny Forest a penalty for a "stonewall" foul on winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

      @TheDradge I'm litrally not claiming that at all, as i put "unless its dangerous" so let's not put made up words into the discussion. This is football, it is a contact sport. If you don't like that, then maybe netball or something is the game for you. Obviously, I'm not saying you can win the ball 1st then go and headbut someone or chop someone in half 2 footed in the knee, but if you challenge strong and fairly for the ball, win the ball 1st and your body follows through and wipes the man out, that's a good tackle in the game of FOOTBALL.

    A lot of discussion about Forest and Everton having points deducted for financial reasons. No mention at all of the 12 points Forest have lost this season due to diabolical refereeing decisions, and that's before this match kicked off. Now this. Forest are 100% correct to start saying something if they have to abide by financial regulations which are unreasonable at the outset (put in place to protect the top teams who managed to build their empires before the regs were applied), the very least we as fans have a right to expect is that the refereeing structure is at least functional. My suspicions of there being political reasons behind this (everything in English culture is being broken down because we voted to leave the EU) appear to be proven correct the more I see happening every day. Simon Jordan attacking Forrest for "questioning someone's integrity" only has a point if that someone/system can respond by proving that they have sound integrity and leaving Forest with egg on their face. As it is, Forest will be attacked by PGMOL and the PL for saying what they've said, if only to act as a smokescreen for the fact that this has been, once again, a cockup of monumental proportions that they are going to try and teflon their way out of. How many unbiased amateur supporters, had they been in the VAR seat, would have let these penalties go? It is extremely fortunate that we don't have to play Luton again this year.

    Every team's set of fans have been there. You wonder if the VAR guy has fallen asleep or something. I remember a midweek merseyside derby a number of years ago at Anfield when VAR should have sent off Trent, Robertson and Van Dijk. The first two should have gone for violent conduct stamping on opponents. Van Dijk was last man of defence pulled down the Eveton forward in the box. No penalty and no red card. To make such a big fuss about just two games when it happens to so many other clubs usually outside the top six baffles me. Also nobody at MOTD was prepared earlier in the season to speak out about the hate speech Rodri received from a Forrest player at the Etihad. A few penatly claims seem to be more important than calling out hate crimes on the pitch.

  • @jameskim6442

    The problem is the "clear and obvious error" rule. The VAR is a qualified referee and should be able to make these decisions. The referee should also be able to say "I don't have a good angle on this" and let VAR decide. That would also serve to save time from the ref running to the screen every time.

    Leaving all that to one side, it is clear that the PGMOL like all institutions will protect its own first. I do not blame Nottingham forest for actual The. We’ve had this all season all the problems with the Premier League and the referee body. They’re so crop. I’ve been paid paid.

    Not sure why Luton would have wanted a draw. Everton had a point more, a game in hand and an easier run in. They may even be safe by the time they play Luton.

    If the game was played for no money it would be a bad decision. But the fact is football has silly amounts of money. The football authorities could apply lots of technology to make it 99% accurate. They don't. Anthony Taylor has the body language / mannerisms of someone who think he is always right.

    Ashley Young throwing his hands up in the air gave away his guilt for the first. The second has been given nearly all season and changing interpretation now is not justifiable. The third tells you just how poor the VAR process is. The richest league in the world with the worst officiating.

    Really crap defending by Forest, very lackadaisical, no urgency, allowed Everton far too much space. If they go down they have themselves to blame, crap management and very poor manager. By contrast, Dyche had his players well drilled, played with aggression and on balance they had a more skilled team.

    City Football group owners employ PGMOL refs in Saudi pro league, while this might not technically be “corruption” (because for some inexplicable reason it’s allowed) it’s such a conflict of interest and so disturbing that the idea that these refs are biased, paid off, intentionally fixing games seems completely possible/likely. It will all be exposed eventually.

    Get a grip Forest. Your promotion to the Premier league was through a VAR disgraceful decision that went in your favour and even at your promotion parade thing, you were all laughing and singing about John Moss and Loving VAR. Also, this season at your place, Everton should have had a penalty against you when Coleman was clearly whipped out. What about the 4 points deduction too when Everton got a 10 points deduction and you only got 4 for a much worse breach?

  • @philipturner9087

    Clattenburg would say this he works for Nottingham Forest as an Everton fan I remain the Everton v Liverpool Derby when he sent 2 Everton players off and didn’t even care a Liverpool play for a tackle in the penalty area more akin with attempted murder than an illegal rugby tackle . . . This after spending 1:03 summer in USA and sharing a flight with the team. Having said this SKY’s X-ref Gallagher who was a much better ref than Clattenburg said only 1 out of the 3 were penaltues. If you want injustice try the fact Everton have had years upon years of being denied clear penalties. Just 2 given the whole season. Plus we had one year were had only 1 given on the last day of the season . . . It actually wasn’t a penalty but was given to cover up the facts as Everton had 9 clear penalties not given that season. Refereeing in English is a joke they do not know what they are doing and are bias more than the metropolitan police.

  • @juvwon
    @juvwon Месяц назад +1

    It's one of two things, either the PGMOL puts consistently incompetent refs in charge of decisions, which means they need to be stepped down or they are complicit in the biased decisions or lack thereof, which means they are corrupt.

    • @futurememories1660
      @futurememories1660 Месяц назад

      The third option is the refs are the best available, but still not capable of running VAR well because football is a sport built on subjective calls looking for objective officiating.

    The PGMOL coming out and apologizing does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Both the title race and relegation battle is NULL AND VOID this season. EMBARRASSING from the referees. Both Liverpool and Nottingham Forest have been absolutely shafted.
