- At its July meeting, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved a final rule establishing a Springs Protection Zone restricting beaching, mooring, anchoring and grounding of vessels on the spring run of the Weeki Wachee River extending from the spring boil within Weeki Wachee State Park to the Rogers Park Boat Ramp.

There’s a bunch of people who buy building lots next to dairy farms and the cry because they don’t like the way cows smell. Personally, I’m in favor of those laws that allow public access to water ways and allows everyone access to the water a not just those fortunate enough to buy water front property.
I agree with the ruling. It is necessary
Yep. Agree as well.
No it’s completely not necessary. You must not go there often
Keep the poors out

Florida springs have turned into a theme park.
Sadly
Unfortunately yes.
Ahhh it’s not that bad, I go every weekend to a different spring. Depending on the time you go be use most people rent and they have to get their kayaks back by 4ish. But usually only a couple hundred people on the whole 5.8 mile river. Not horrible but definitely would be a lot more peaceful if there weren’t as many.
We saw a very healthy bull shark swimming up the river.Glad to be in our kayak and if the river us so important then start looking at septic tanks for compliance.
yes they have signs up now
The Chazzowitzka needs to be next!
i was just there at the hospital hole on dec 25th.....plenty of manatees and swimmers in the water>>> no one trying to stop us, and everyone was respectful and as far as i could tell...all had an enjoyable time. including the manatees....... merry christmas
It's been in the last month or so . I was there in March and they weren't enforcing yet.
How are kayakers and paddled boarders supposed to take a break…it takes energy to do that so what if you have to pull over to take a little break? Are you gonna get it trouble?
Nah just hold your yak. Swimming is ok, anchoring is not ok.
This is more about the people who have homes on the water not wanting the peasants stopping on their shore. You can stop upstream inside the park all you want. This no stopping area starts where the land is private. Notice the homes along the 5.6 mile streach just outside of the park don't have to obey the rules with their own boats and docks. If this were about preserving the river they'd make all the homes remove their docks from inside the river and let nature reclaim the shores. This is corruption.
Please post video updates if you have any more info on designated areas and whatnot, I like the idea as long as they allow designated areas cuz 6 miles is quite the hike without a rest.
As far as the residence, this is a waterway, not your private property. And since I see most residence tailgating, don't get pissed when visitors do the same...
Omg I go to that river it’s so pretty and give a shout out to river daddy he is the best TikTok
Can we still jetski up river as long as we don’t beach it ?
i was there at hospital hole for xmasss...i tied up my skis and went snorkeling w manatees..... no one said a word.
So we can’t go on vacation there and paddle boarding and stop and swim? Wow it was going to be my first time there coming up but will be canceling my trip what’s the point of going if I can’t stop and swim
The rich homeowners don’t want visitors
Will I would say you can’t tie up on someone’s dock but the river should be left alone it’s a public water way just have the dnr portal it more catch people throwing trash and drinking more
Nobody blames the kayaks. There are just TOO many! It’s so congested!
People need to just lighten up
Yup, can easily go here and enjoy a private day on the river but people only go during summer break and complain about a hot spot of people enjoying life and nature. How about just ban the giant boats. now locals can't beach a kayak? Ok
@@FirexHivelocals can’t so the Yankees can. Sad.
If the boat can go up it then you can’t stop it sorry
This is why we can't have nice things
Update please?!
Hi Anita! This is good question and I’ll need to follow up to see what the current status is on this. Last time I was at Weeki Wachee in November I did see that kayakers were beaching in certain areas, but the ice cream boat wasn’t there.
i can see the summer crowd trashing it tho!!!! its not a PARTY spot!!!
I live 15 minutes from this river and i think its bs but whatever it is what it is
They own the house, not the river.
They can’t enforce that law, it is an unenforceable. Too many people on the whole river for one boat cop and one jet ski cop to tell everyone they can’t swim. I’ve been swimming in the river while they go by and haven’t said one word to me.
It’s just the people that own land mad because people there back yard but if you buy a house on a place like this that’s what you going to get so if you don’t tie up to there dock or land they can’t do shit
Why dose there have to be so many dumb rules
It’s the land owners doing this trying to stop a public water way watch can’t be stoped if boats can go up it then it’s public
No one should’ve been aloud to build on that river. Along with the rainbow.
I agree but your about 100 yrs late. Rainbow used to be a theme park in the 30’s then all that property on the west side was auctioned and then houses were built..
This is a terrible rule. Party on Garth
It’s for the rich homeowners to keep people out
If they dont they can say good bye to traffic us with kids like to beach or relax with our families
