Groot 2601 & 2606 Autocar ACX Heil Freedom Curottos Garbage Trucks

Here we see two recently painted Groot Autocars, beneath Heil Freedom bodies and retrofitted with Curotto Can Slammin’ Eagles. Shown in this video are 2601 & 2606, two of almost twenty nearly identical trucks. Now about each unit…
2601: Here we see the normal recycle truck for this route, still using its original Republic painted Curotto. Even since seeing it on October 8th of this year it has not yet been repainted. This was actually my first time seeing the cab and body with its new paint though. The driver was very nice too, but unfortunately this was all I managed to get. I’ll definitely film more as I routinely head to this neighborhood to film.
2606: This truck was not the normal truck or driver, and was filling in for 2244. I was hoping to see 2244 since that is my favorite truck from the Elgin shop, but this wasn’t all that bad. This one still sounds much better than most of the other ACX’s from Elgin, and it’s Curotto had a decent speed, although it was nothing compared to 2614. The driver was also very friendly and was professional.
I would’ve filmed more of each truck, but I made plans to film 5 different trucks that day, so I was on a time and storage crunch.

I totally forgot these trucks were ex-Republic till I read the description lol. No wonder the curroto arm was so fast! These trucks look really sharp in Groot colors now. Thanks for sharing!
Haha I did too! It’s very true, Republic does have some fast Curottos. I agree, it looks so much better in Groot’s paint with that cream stripe in the side as opposed to Republic’s paint. Glad you enjoyed it!

These trucks look so much nicer in Groot colors. What really made the video was the cart variety, I really like the Ottos. Is recycling weekly or biweekly here? Nice video!
mndsi Definitely agree with you on that, they really did not look good at all in Republic’s scheme. That’s something I’ll miss is the cart variety because now that they aren’t distributing Republic carts, it’ll just be Groot Rehrigs :/ Recycling is in fact weekly here too. Great video! These guys are pretty fast! Is your area open market? What other haulers are there in your area? How often do the Pythons normally run?
TheNVTrashMan Thanks! I agree they are pretty speedy! Some of it is open market, and some isn’t. Groot works in both open market and areas incorporated with a city, whereas Roy Strom is only open-market. Then there’s LRS who is only incorp. which is who I have. All these companies do serve both types of areas though. By me, the Pythons run every Monday morning for only a few hours. Thanks for the comment!

Groot is owned by Waste Connections. These are old republic trucks, as republic sold two yards to Groot from an asset swap in 2017

Why do people not all have toters on an automated route?
Qukslvr Haha yeah I can tell the drivers don’t enjoy it. This route used to be manual not to long ago and I think Republic asked customers if they wanted to rent toters or not when they went automated, and then toters just became mandatory. But then some customers just never got toters for some reason.
