@@MacNifty Huh? Are you referring to the JP3 amp? People are complaining they are too expensive. Now you come along and say they are too cheap. SMH. I get what your trying to say, that D4S amps are poor quality, but experience has shown them to be quite high quality. Maybe you should stop judging a book by its cover and do some real research. Look around, ask people who use them, etc...
@@MacNiftyI have a JP8 that has been slamming two 15s for almost a year now. I have to be careful at higher volumes, because the coils start to cook. Those subs are rated 700 watts rms, but that "800" watt amp would blow them if I didn't keep the volume down)tested by Big D to over 1200 clean watts at 1 ohm). Btw, the remote has a built-in clip indicator that is accurate, so no, I'm not sending a dirty signal to the subs, just clean power, and quite a lot of it.
Mr Price over at D4S is making some fire and always puts underated specs on paper. These in my opinion blow the other brands out of the water. Now if they upgrade the caps that would be a huge plus because you know Rockford does, but Rockford is also charging probably triple the amount for an amp that pushes this kind of wattage. What a great little amp....
I like that you used a reasonable voltage... Most new cars don't even run the typical 14.1 range unless the battery is charging. Voltage is automatically dropped to the mid to low 13's for that bit of extra fuel savings.
I had a KIA hybrid that would drop the voltage down into the low 12s on a regular basis!! This is because on a hybrid, it doesn’t have an alternator. It uses a DC to DC converter to step down the traction battery power to a 12 volt power source which acts like an alternator. After some time, I discovered that if I kept the headlights on then the car kept the DC to DC converter putting out power at all times, thus increasing the voltage and maintaining the voltage at around 14.1 volts. Regardless though, it is nice that Big D does his tests at real world voltage.
Yep, on my 18 ford escape, the alternator starts up on 15v cold start but once it gets warmed up and detects the battery is charged enough, the voltage drops down to low 13s
It's awesome, the only concern I have is the amount of power going through such a small amp. I live in the desert, it gets hotter than a rattlesnakes taint during the summer.
I don't think you really should worry. The heatsink on this amp does its job and while it'll get hot, those internal parts are all rated for 85-100C. You should be just fine, especially if you run proper voltage. Adding an extra 140MM fan to the mix to move air across the amp won't hurt things, either.
Oh man I have really no experience in audio. I have seen many crazy car systems in my life but for the first time in my life I heard a good one. More felt. I didn't hear any music but I felt the bass that's for sure. That's the system I want
I like how on their website, it lists 555w output for 4, 2, and 1 Ohm. Love your content, and this amplifier is definitely very budget-friendly. I'll probably be picking one up!
The fact that the output stays similar in lower ohms means that it has quality chips in it keeping the protection walls up I really love the fact that JP is choosing quality over quantity This amp is perfect for a beginner or just a regular base lover with 2 500 Watts 800 peak kicker vr 12in perfect set up to run at 2 ohm
Keep in mind that this amplifiers constant power design is different from most amplifiers and that's why it has consistent output. It has nothing to do with the quality of the chips
@JasonWW2000 lol still goes back to the design of constant output under stress loads thats where weak links fail... i.e. chips and circuit design... im into electronics and amplifier repairs.... my comment was directed at jp's choices...you could have a cheaper version of any of these components and have different parameters of functionality (like when turninig on and off)voltage regulators. sot23 ...ceramic resistors... zn44 mosfets... filters.... pnp's....rectifiers...npn's you think none of these are in a constant output designe... but thaks for chiming in... at least theres discussion, learning, and growing in the community follow barevids he repairs amps
@@johnpolaski6126this is just a simply mini Chinese class d all class d d amp dona certain power like 550 at 4 ohm 800 at 2 ohm and something like 1k at 1 ohm . Jp just markets this amp as 555 in all ohm loads Wich is kinda.silly.

Awesome amp . Just what i have been wanting. I nice little amp that dose great power and you dont need to run welding cable to run correctly. Im a firm believer that it dosent take a ton of power to get loud just the right subs and enclosure.
I have an Alpine monoblock I bought for $50 at a second hand shop 10 years ago. I think it's supposed to be 500watt. I was running an old Kicker L7 12" and it sounded good but the speaker is heavy and I had to pull it out sometimes to use the back seat in my truck. Front door speakers are Jenson 2 way and a basic Alpine deck. Rear door speakers are factory ones. I sold the Kicker and got myself a JL audio 10" in a box specifically made for that speaker powered by the old Alpine second hand shop amp. It hits so much harder and it's half the weight.
That's what I was going to say, but you beat me to it. The epoxy on the threaded inserts could've lost the bond, and the vibration caused some stress cracks around the holes. I've been wondering how much abuse it could take before bonds started breaking. It held up longer than I thought it would
I have this amp on two Skar SDR8 D2's wired at 1 ohm (individual sealed enclosures) in my wifes Ford escape. It definitely do bump lol. Thank you for your great videos/ information.
We really have made it to the point where we don't need "audiophile" amps anymore (especially for car audio). If you only need 50% of the power from this thing the distortion is going to be lower than a premium amp running at 95% of its output any day! All for $160 too!
Man I saw this in my email other day and I’m so freaking glad you dyno tested it . Want to throw this in my everyday with an American bass 10 for that bump
The power from this little amp is amazing, after I saw the kenwood that was just shy of pperfection (BIG D's words, not mine) and considering that the only kenwood amp I have on my wall is a kac- 921 ( my first real amp, chariest this amp more than my Rockford 150hd and my ppi a600.2) so I said i was going to pick one up this week, but after seeing this, it's a no brainier, plus I don't have d4s amp. The link you have posted for this amp, says it can't be reached
Big D !! I remember when I first started watching your videos about 10 years ago… the content was so cool “old school audio” even tho I was 26 year old and car audio enthusiast the old school was and still is my thing, sad to see that your content changed completely, even when your videos are so informative the stuff you review can be found in many other channels. Keep it up with your work, hopping to find other old school channel like yours used to be… specially disappoint me the most that last videos that are all about a single Brand.
I am running a JP63 extremely powerful amplifier, the most powerful amplifier I have ran and I also own a Deaf Bounce AAK 4k & Soundigital EVO.2 12k. However the only two drawbacks I have noticed is the issues I have had with the Bluetooth knob randomly not working. Also the amplifier does not have enough thermal Mass for the Heat dissipation by the mosfets even in 80 degree weather it will quickly rise to over 100°F now this us far away from the silicone breakdown temp however a bit warmer than I would like to see it on average operation and it is far away from clipping. The onboard fan will only minimize the heat creep but can not cool the amplifier they should add another fan to the larger boards
Everyone can make play louder, the harder part is how really accurate is the detail to the rendition of the bass. The acid test for lows is the Double bass instrument.
So everyone's gonna just forgot how this claims to be a constant power amp but continues to increase power the lower the ohms so it's just a regular amps miss rated to be sold as a constant power which in fact is a regular amp with a dumber down number to make it look good... they still get stupid hot on great electrical and no clipping and weak points shine there after..
As allways, excellent review sir. When is that ruby red JP 32.2 going to grace your bench? Like others, i know you stay busy putting out old school content! But the JP amps are definitely creating a legacy library for the future of Old School Coolness 😎 Keep em commin sir! Best part of my RUclips viewing during the week!
If this amp does like the larger JP8 then the fan doesn’t even come on till higher temps are seen. I have the JP8 and with running it at 1 ohm at close to clipping for 30 minutes straight, the amp would heat up quickly and then stay at 115-125 degrees. This is in Texas in the middle of summer where it was 100 degrees outside. Hopefully, this little amp handles the heat like the JP8, hopefully.
Very interested in gear like this. I have to use ALL the cargo area in my Jeep for... cargo, but I want to upgrade the 100 watt "500 watt" Alpine system. These smaller amps are the way, methinx. Seems like we're in a golden age for car audio, right now. Which is interesting since car manufacturers are trying REALLY hard to keep us from buying aftermarket head units.
That Boss is rated for 20w x 4. Lets say it does a clean 15w. This means it should play well at low to medium volume levels, but at higher volume you'll hear distortion. More power will only allow higher volume without the distortion. So if it sounds bad at low to medium volume, an amp is not going to fix that. What set of speakers do you have and are you using the passive crossovers that came with them? Where are the speakers installed. Can you describe in what way it sounds bad?
I remember not too long ago JP was trash talked & everyone said he was a scammer. He spammed all the groups with his ads etc. To be quite honest I think it’s funny that his amps are kicking everyone’s asses for a good price but he’s built an empire. These amps seem to be the real deal. The new Orions but are actually putting out more power than rated lol
You really can't go wrong with JP amps. I personally am a fan of constant power amps. The reason I like Rockford Power and JL amps so much. One thing I'm curious about, is how low can you bring the voltage and maintain it's rating 🤔 Most amps will kick off if the voltage is too low. If people will be using stock electrical. Definitely don't recommend. It can be some important information.
My little cousin is an up and coming bass head. We just got done installing his head unit. Going to do the door speakers next. Then we will do the bass system. This should be good for his first bass amp. You think 4g would be big enough for this amp and 12g for the sub?
How have I never heard of this?? Thanks for showing it off Big D! Toss in some proper caps and a high-flow fan for not a lot more money and that should last long enough to rumble the car apart. 😅
I am on the fence about this amp. I'm not sure it would act different on some subs with the changing Ohm loads, but this amp should have a tighter clamp on the power at lower Ohm loads! We all like more bang for the buck, but I think an amp should be rated close to the numbers posted. Like that crazy Orion 2500 hitting more than 10k in power. I would like 2 of these amps on my pair of 8s, but with it clamping so high at 2 and 1 Ohms, it has me hesitating I don't want to re-cone these subs every month because of miss rated amps.
The thernal imaging you did..was the amp laying flat on the table? I noticed the fan on the cover. Bet all the heat could have been less if the fan opening wasnt blocked. 🤔
I blown away I paid almost a grand for my RF BD1000 over 20 years ago I hate to think what that is adjusted fot inflation 23years later it's in it's 6th install. I think I'm gonna get a jp3 for chitz and giggles.
Is that fan doing anything? It looks like it's flush with the surface to which it's mounted. Not sure it can pull in any air, especially if mounted to auto carpet.
You only need a small gap for air to be pulled in. Obviously, if you mount on carpet, add some spacers so the fan is not blocked. It pulls in from the bottom and pushes out through the metal endcaps.
Id upgrade that fan to a noctua to keep it cooler and quieter. In the pc game theyre king. The bequiet! Silent wings 4 are also a very good choice of pc fan if you can manage to fit a 140mm fan.
That’s cause the actual vast majority of basshead lol or car audio / music guys. Really just want a louder better cleaner radio that factory systems never give. Sure 4-15’s walled off in a Honda CRX or a Geo Metro is awesome. But a 1000 and 500 combo on SQ is much more useable and better sounding
These videos and amps are absolutely amazing d4s is my new go to and was wondering how good the sq was on the jp34ab vs an alpine r2 a60 f or jl rd400? Or if you have any reccomendations around $300 for a 100x4 at 4 ohm amp would be highly appreciated
I personally like the SQ on the JP34ab but SQ is subjective. It is larger physically then the other amps you mention and being Class AB will be less efficient, but if you have the space then I say go for it
Heh, reminds me a bit of the old school Fosgate Punch 30 from the early 90's.. Not near the same power as the amp here, but was amazing none the less back in the day.
Consistent power output ? Does that mean i can bump for the whole ride to work ,( 42 min drive each way ) ? heat is my enemy as its location is trunk with no flow

I’ve had a few Hifonics amps, including a newer Zeus and Brutus series. The Zeus amp was terrible and didn’t seem like it put out much power at all while the Brutus amp did pretty good. From looking at what others say, it seems like the Zeus amps just don’t do very good at all.
@@richardroessler6529 I’ve got the JP8 and can say that I’ve been nothing but impressed with it. It seems to push all the subs I’ve hooked up to it better than the Hifonics Brutus amp and better than the Walmart RZR-2300 amp too.

Get with a reputable brand. You with the chinese flea market yo.
I have been so excited for this little guy. I was expecting 750w at 1 ohm when I saw it at 4 ohm on 13.8v I was a little more than impressed.
I needed this amp back in 1992!
It's awesome, the only concern I have is the amount of power going through such a small amp. I live in the desert, it gets hotter than a rattlesnakes taint during the summer.
Ask Big D to document ambient rise over like 20 minutes and then calculate yours from that.
I don't think you really should worry. The heatsink on this amp does its job and while it'll get hot, those internal parts are all rated for 85-100C. You should be just fine, especially if you run proper voltage. Adding an extra 140MM fan to the mix to move air across the amp won't hurt things, either.
Just put additional fans on the amp. Problem solved.
It has a built in fan under the plexiglass cover.
@@johnpolaski6126 I'm glad things are more clear now. 👍
That’s a heck of a deal. It’s incredible how far amplifier design has come in the past 20 years.
Those ratings are like 70's muscle car horsepower ratings. Truly astounding performance. JP continues to change that scene into such a a better market. WTG!
I was going to buy a Kicker amp, But after seeing this i decided to order a JP3. Cheaper and makes more power then the other amp's I was looking at 😎👌
Just picked this amp for Black Friday for my daughter’s car. Thanks for doing this dyno it really persuaded me to purchase
Awesome amp . Just what i have been wanting. I nice little amp that dose great power and you dont need to run welding cable to run correctly. Im a firm believer that it dosent take a ton of power to get loud just the right subs and enclosure.
I wasn't expecting that kind of result. Thats a powerful amp.
But will it last ..that's the key
Damn that acrylic Gatley box is getting all chipped up around the sub. I know you've had a lot of subs in and out of it, but damn.
That's what I was going to say, but you beat me to it. The epoxy on the threaded inserts could've lost the bond, and the vibration caused some stress cracks around the holes. I've been wondering how much abuse it could take before bonds started breaking. It held up longer than I thought it would
I think when I tried the Massive Audio BOA121 sub in there, it really stressed it out. The cut out wasn't quite big enough unfortunately
Could you imagine having amps like this in the 90's
I have this amp on two Skar SDR8 D2's wired at 1 ohm (individual sealed enclosures) in my wifes Ford escape. It definitely do bump lol. Thank you for your great videos/ information.
Jp is smart, he is hitting crazy price points love it
We really have made it to the point where we don't need "audiophile" amps anymore (especially for car audio). If you only need 50% of the power from this thing the distortion is going to be lower than a premium amp running at 95% of its output any day! All for $160 too!
Purchased! D4S was super FAST shipping to FL! This lil monster should be perfect for a normal stock electrical daily. TY for the great content Big D!
Man I saw this in my email other day and I’m so freaking glad you dyno tested it . Want to throw this in my everyday with an American bass 10 for that bump
Nice I've been waiting for the review on this amp, it will be great for the everyday person 👍
Keep it up with your work, hopping to find other old school channel like yours used to be… specially disappoint me the most that last videos that are all about a single
Brand.
This is the Amp I have been looking for. 100% gonna get this one for my first system!
I run two old 90's 450w RMS amps and two 12" subs in a large ported box and it suits me fine.
God damn D4S ain't playing around with their amps🔥🔊
WOW! What a powerful little package! Thanks for the vids as always!
What do u think about this amp on a gately audio relentless 6.5
I really wish D4S would start listing the db/octave in the manuals. I can't find it anywhere.
For the pricetag, that amp is crazy :)
I like the small size of these, however the longevity factor really boils down to that price point. Can totally see these amps cooking themselves!
Just bought 2 of these for my two 12 inch Image Dynamic idq subs in my C6 Corvette.
Awesome power for something so small!! Thank ya Big D
Most amps shut off around 8.5 volts. This amp should do it’s rated power at 12 maybe 11.5 volts
My little cousin is an up and coming bass head. We just got done installing his head unit. Going to do the door speakers next. Then we will do the bass system. This should be good for his first bass amp. You think 4g would be big enough for this amp and 12g for the sub?
13123watts for .5 dynamic with no protection , is still the craziest dyno I’ve seen you run from orion 3k
How have I never heard of this?? Thanks for showing it off Big D! Toss in some proper caps and a high-flow fan for not a lot more money and that should last long enough to rumble the car apart. 😅
Did you test 12v back chance? Curious if the power supply makes a big difference at that voltage as well
I am on the fence about this amp.
Cool little amp! Remind me of soundsteam angina!!!
Just got one ordered for myself thanks for the videos
God damn😮😮😮 this is amp is definitely gonna sell out fast. Best sellers for sure
The thernal imaging you did..was the amp laying flat on the table? I noticed the fan on the cover. Bet all the heat could have been less if the fan opening wasnt blocked. 🤔
Amp tests like this is awesome ....would like to see you so a test on the sound digital evo x 800 4 some time . Thanks for all you are doing.
Damn now i gotta upgrade my remote wire to 8 gauge
I'm getting a new car soon and was thinking about getting this to power my 2 kicker VR 10s. Now I'm sold, D4S rules!
This is a fantastic amp with a awesome footprint.
The Kicker 800W is in clearance at Best Buy for $127
Power up 💪 , more to come! Thank you for the Video!
I blown away I paid almost a grand for my RF BD1000 over 20 years ago I hate to think what that is adjusted fot inflation 23years later it's in it's 6th install. I think I'm gonna get a jp3 for chitz and giggles.
Those ole Kicker Gold letters was the champs!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Is that fan doing anything?
It looks like it's flush with the surface to which it's mounted. Not sure it can pull in any air, especially if mounted to auto carpet.
You only need a small gap for air to be pulled in. Obviously, if you mount on carpet, add some spacers so the fan is not blocked. It pulls in from the bottom and pushes out through the metal endcaps.
I think this amp is the king budget banger. The remote pushes it over the edge for me.
Love the old school look on the dfs amps
It's amazes me on the power per dollar that's available now a days. You could spend 3k and build a killer system
.15 sec in...jp3 audio amp....yea i can believe whatever it said its rated...str8 facts
Do you have a good way of removing magnets from old subs and speakers? RUclips need a video on this. 😅
Wow what a awesome little guy. I wonder if there is a 4ch in black.
You had the amp flat, so the fan could not breathe. Do you think leaving a small gap would it run cooler?😁
It is larger physically then the other amps you mention and being Class AB will be less efficient, but if you have the space then I say go for it
King of the budget amps a must have.
This lil thing is like an old school cheater amp! Doing a build in a Honda element w/3 skar 6.5 evls this will be perfect!
No, not at all like a cheater amp.
This is exactly what they needed to make me a customer. :)
I like these D4S amps. I'm replacing 2 Punch 150HDs. BTW what is the intro music on this video please?
Song is "Low" by NEFFEX and is in the RUclips Audio Library
In your personal opinion. JP3>Stinger MT1000.1 or MT1000.1>JP3?
How's this working on your daily? And which ohm do you use in your daily?;thanks in advance
I have come to favor audio control lc1.800....underrated and superclean output worthy of Sq duty..it's a bit pricey but I think worth the money
Ran two Fosgate p3 dvc 10 subs and it was all they wanted maybe more
Heh, reminds me a bit of the old school Fosgate Punch 30 from the early 90's..
Not near the same power as the amp here, but was amazing none the less back in the day.
Seems crazy to me. Would buy this any day.
Nice vid.
So I just purchased AJP3 amplifier and was wondering is a. 70. Amp fuse? Really big enough for how much power this produces?
Good video, it will be possible to make one of the company CT Sound, and your opinion if you recommend them.
I’ve tested a few, here’s one
Bass Amp for the Masses? CT Sounds CT-400.1D Review and Amp Dyno Test [4K]
ruclips.net/video/j11iCrFhs7I/видео.html
Consistent power output ? Does that mean i can bump for the whole ride to work ,( 42 min drive each way ) ? heat is my enemy as its location is trunk with no flow
I love my jp23 amps. I have the mono and the 4 channel.
BIG D are you interested in testing a Blam amp? RA 754D? I have a brand new one you can borrow. Also I have a Rodek 224ci Sitting around available for testing.
Hey big d. Love your videos. I have a hifonics zxx-1800.1d hooked to a scar audio 10. Just wondering if you've ever bench tested one of those amps. Just don't think it pushes too hard.
I’ve had a few Hifonics amps, including a newer Zeus and Brutus series. The Zeus amp was terrible and didn’t seem like it put out much power at all while the Brutus amp did pretty good. From looking at what others say, it seems like the Zeus amps just don’t do very good at all.
@91CavGT thank you. Yeah I'm thinking about getting this amp. Little plus perfect for what I need
@@richardroessler6529 I’ve got the JP8 and can say that I’ve been nothing but impressed with it. It seems to push all the subs I’ve hooked up to it better than the Hifonics Brutus amp and better than the Walmart RZR-2300 amp too.
@@91CavGT5 Awesome. Thanks for the feedback.
That is a steal …. Damn your gonna make me swipe my card 🤦🏻♂️
JP is giving Jacob Fuller some tough competition in the amp world with this lineup!
Very nice. I need a 1000rms form 1 to 4 ohms of this amplifier. Let’s call it the JP4
This one is virtually that
And here I am riding around with 18000 watts on 4 18s, when all i need is this lil guy for my daily use.
Is the bass remote voltage display and clip light accurate? love it! I might have to pick one up!
The clip light is very accurate. The voltage has an adjustment screw.
