Wax records 1990 - Music Power Records Green Lane.... 2.00pm and the shop is rammed... Delivery driver walks in and says yous lot bets get ya money at the ready coz theres a tune in here by Reel 2 Reel you gonna def want... Chris opened the box, plucked this white label out and gave it a spin on the headphones first....I see him travelling and lifting the needle along the vinyl trying to find that sweet spot...He then flips it over and I see him smile.... puts the needle back to the beginning, disconnects the headphones , volume on amp at full power..... As soon as the bleep melody kicked in with that piano all hell broke fuckin loose in that shop let me tell you.... I was In there like a shot.... my copy reserved on my pile of tunes ....RESULT!! Trust me, this ones a real heavyweight....instant party groover warehouse floor skanker of a tune.... So many lovely memories with this one... EPIC!!

It’s amazing to think back and remember that almost 30 years ago thousands of total strangers partied countrywide with no violence. Feel blessed to have been lucky enough to have lived through those special times. One Nation under a groove or rather under a spell.
Remember coming out of the Lido in Margate after a thorough 10hr rinsing and something like 1000 ravers or more, deluging the tiny rail station platform and the station master looking totally bewildered, everyone skinning up sat on the edge of both platforms, folk wandering across the tracks, people still dancing at 0800, (those pink cali’s still doing the business)!!
Shame we’ll never see those times again.

Dungeons Lea Bridge Rd 1990, music's banging in them tunnels. Next there was silence for like 20 seconds. Lights off except for one green strobe searching and scanning the walls and ceiling.. Then bam, the intro to this came on. Everyone knew this one and with it an almighty roar of approval and added to that an ear deafining round of applause. Fuck me I clapped so hard my hands were on fire then severe pins and needles lol. Nut nut and a quick sniff of the ole ammol and I was flying free, first class British Airways stylee 🤣😂🤣.. Man I tell you this is just one memory of 1000's that I have stored in my brain from the best days of raving as far as I'm concerned. From 86' to 92' music was my true love and thank goodness I can still remember. Big shout to all the original old skoolers out there. I don't know any of you but on the dance floor back then, you lot were all my fucking family. Priceless ❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🕺💃🕺xxx

Well i'm certainly glad you do remember and remember enough to share with us all. A nights raving could throw up many memories some though were destined to rise to the fore and remain indelibly etched into the subconcious.
It's almost inconceivable that the two of us were not at the same night raving and sharing these
memories at some point along with the people reading your comment....the ravers.
We were all one and still are to this day for it is love the most powerful and enduring of our emotions that prevails 💚

Dungeons was just one of hundreds of amazing places all over the UK. I was there the summer of the birth (more or less) of the Dutch house scene in Amsterdam and had been times to the top places in Germany before 1990. While they were experiences in their own right, nowhere came close to the magic and vibes and people all over the UK. It was a phenomenon which could hardly be believed. No other country fell for house as it evolved from the music of Chicago, NY, Detroit & NJ anywhere lik6 the UK. I am sure it eclipsed what was happening in the USA times over.
Belgium had something of a decent scene, much smaller, still the nearest to the UK, and there were little bits of Italy half taken by house, the odd proper house club, depending on getting the night of the week right. I used to think with so much Italo house music and it making a huge part of the British scene, there had to be a lot going on in Italy. As far as I know, though, The UK was the Mecca for any Italian house music maker or DJ, with it making an impact in Italy but not too much more. The Balearics weren't my cup of tea personally, with the exception of quite a lot of good stuff in Majorca - unreliable though. The big Spanish mainland cities got into all night long, open air arena events by the early 90s, but mostly I didn't recognise it as a proper house scene, coming from what the UK was. I think there was one city which was good to really good though. I think it was Seville, not sure. At least it kept things simple and cheap, after a few holiday breaks - who would want to miss a summer of raves and clubs at home?

@@lecochonbleu Great comment 👍 👏😁. Good to have your feedback on other countries perspective on the house scene and how it affected other ravers. Even the term Acid House was conceived in the UK by Dj Pierre himself. Music is power. It's one of the mediums that can truly connect people of all creed and colour. Nowhere was that more prevelent than in the UK from 87' to 90'. Its there for all to see. RUclips, documentaries, pictures etc, we embraced House and Acid House like it was our baby and we took care, nurtured, and loved it with all our hearts. It was an absolute musical phenomenon what was going on here at that time. Ive said this many times, I'm now 56 and my mindset is still stuck in those times and has never left. I'm very proud because I was a pirate dj on Two main stations back then, Medina Fm in 89' and Pulse Fm in 91'. I was spending £100 every week for 3 years and bought absolutely everything vinyl that was released. R&S, TRANSMAT, BIGSHOT, NUGROOVE, DJ INTERNATIONAL and endless white test presses. I was obssessed and to some degree I still am even today 33 years later lol.

@@RenegadeSound That's a great feeling when you can get the music straight from the producer. I was never that big on the singing vocal sample heavy or MCing type tracks over early UK hardcore/house/techno tracks. So I always preferred them to be as instrumental as possible. Hence why I still love this version by a good few miles. Unrelated, on discogs, there's a December 1990 release date on one of the multitude of original pressings. Don't know where the submitter of that pressing got his copy from but this was out way before December of 1990. I got hold of one of the White Labels from the tail-end of Summer 1990 / early Autumn and I vaguely remember it being played before that. Eternal classic for me.
Anyway enough of my waffle, it's no problem. I like your channel very much, it contains pretty much all my favourite tracks in one place!

What an impact this track has had on so many people and their lives since it was released way back in the day,so many memories and friendships were created by this track!
It was a defining moment in the scene when such musical “genius” such as this track had the ability to bring everyone together as one, regardless of who you are or what you are ,it was always about the music and the love that we all had for what was one of the most special times in our lives.
This track is most certainly unique and unlike any other!! I would just like to thank all those that were part of the scene back in the day for creating something that was truly special and for the memories in which I will never, ever forget!!!
,,thank you all for coming, each and every single one of you!!,,”without you the scene would have been nothing”,,and although I don’t know you all,one thing that is true is that you all played a very big part in my life, being part of this scene!!

The thing about the earlier Ibiza crowd, a tune that knocked your socks off was still a tune which knocked their socks off.
Ibiza was rarely for me personally, but I used to watch some of the showy Ibiza people at nights out and wonder if they were just using the scene for a social life, and maybe missing the incredible times we attached to the scene. But I would see them smile and get into some of the better records. I doubt the greatness of the early house scene was too much for them, and a lot probably thought the island social life with chums and a bit of hedonism fitted for them. But it's always good they got the benefit of those amazing, positive frequencies from the best house music.
When I was really young, I mean much younger than anyone would believe, a little boy, I experienced some of the early to mid 80s really hedonistic, international set Ibiza disco scene and I just did not like it. Often enough, that would be to put it mildly. Basically two words which seemed always to fit were mad and camp - very.
So when I see Oakie today in arenas in Las Vegas surrounded by posing drag queens, playing trashy, terrible stuff and everyone putting it on, I think he really did bring Ibiza to the world now - the really shitty, early 80s "look at me" Ibiza. The bit about Danny Rampling, Oakie etc bringing house from Ibiza to London was a real myth anyway. It was the other way around mostly. UK TO Ibiza 87-88. (Danny did bring the hippy Alfredo's Ibiza idea of playing good dance club music next to Captain Beefheart and instrumental guitar music to Shoom, and he says a Med type vibe. But that wasn't most people's experiences of the late 80s house scenes anyway.)
I have to see the positivity and love and openness and joy of the original old school house scene having the positive effect it did - even on bloody Ibiza!
It didn't last so long anyway. Any decent house times in Ibiza died for me even before the amazing UK house scene started to go dark for me. That was about 92-93 in the UK, ironically just as I'd turned 18 after 6 years of pretty solid clubs, warehouses and fields.

Wasn't aware of this original version, still like to play rap version near the end of my 91 raves. This takes me right back to the Hippodrome, always bitter sweet hearing it in the club, as it's an amazing track, but you also knew the night was close to finishing. Thank you Grant for creating this amazing record. 👍

@Gavrumdoo : Indeed. Girls liked the rap version better, presumably because it had female vocals singing the chorus, "Too Minutes" which went well with the rapping.
My girlfriend loved it compared to the other tracks I played which probably just sounded like noise to her ears
