Hi.My name SWAT, I am the author of sound and smoke effects mod PUA and my sounds are also used by mod Imperial Destroyed. I'm glad you liked this work.))
Ever since you mentioned PuA a couple of months ago in a video I have been running this mod for my Empire campaigns. As an expert in this period of history I have to say that this is the closest mod I have ever seen come to an appropriate balance of historical accuracy and fun. At times it can be a slog but this is more to do with the constraints of Empire than the mod itself. I've run a Russian campaign on short and a British campaign on long both from 1700/1703 start dates. It's a really excellent experience and the best mod for Empire IMO. Factions no longer make unreasonable and ahistorical decisions, alliances last longer, rebellions are a far greater threat and there's even some coded events (the 1715 Jacobite Rising for example). I am on a limited income and run this on a laptop and it is the most stable I have ever seen Empire. Other mods I can run for maybe 70 turns before I start to run into issues, I am almost 200 turns into the British campaign and only on 1735. Thanks for spotlighting it, the button guide can be a bit tricky because of poor translation but once you figure it out it is an absolute dream. For your accuracy rate the author suggests you put it on FIRING battle setting to start and then at about 1750 switch to 50/50 (firing and melee). Most battle run well on this. The only issue are fort battles but you can turn those off. For best results it is recommended to run Very Hard Campaign and Hard Battles.
so you're telling me you prefer sandbox than historical, to be honest I agree. who cares about historical decisions? you see, whenever you repeat the campaign it becomes repetitive and repetitive it becomes predictable
@@deonte9014 Get a permanent Garrison over there who can deal with rebels. @@Robin-sf3gk In some ways, and in other was, Empire 2 offers more. Empire 2 has a culture system which PuA lacks, which is the biggest notable difference. PuA has fire by rank, whereas Empire 2 simply has both 2 front ranks fire a volley at once. Start dates are also different. Empire 2 has a 1690 start date and a 1783 one. PuA like the video says has a 1700, 1772 and 1703 start dates. So you will see more Pike & Shot in Empire 2. PuA generally has a better reputation compared to Empire 2 when it comes to stability and crashes but they're mostly similar from my experience, nowadays.
An Empire 2 from 1600-1899 would be great, the time frame allows for quite a diverse gameplay from early muskets allowing for an initial melee focus (pikemen feel quite useless in Empire) to bolt action rifles with more of a focus on skirmish groups rather than large armies. It would also allow for exploration and the colonisation of America rather than starting with already established colonies. Starting in 1600 would also allow the player to see how the major empires formed from the three English civil wars to the boxer rebellion. Due to the modern capabilities it could support a more in-depth and larger map possibly including most if not all of Asia and Africa and would allow for a much more diverse unit roster without clogging up the UI which is common with most expansion mods. And they would also be able to bring back the village system from EP (which I much prefer) The updated engine would also mean they could bring back stuff like fire by rank/platoon (which was apparently really buggy)
I'm gonna have to disagree with your proposed timeframe, too big with too much change. I would propose an empire 2 with a timeframe of either ~1650-1850 (start of Napoleonic style warfare to the end of it) though other timeframes could possibly work as well ~1550-1750 (beginnings of global empires to full swing of it) or ~1450-1650 (beginning of gunpowder dominance to the end of large scale melee infantry).
@The_13th_Hussar how exactly would it be too big? TW warhammer 3 has 190 odd factions, but nobody says that it's too big also, so what if it changes too much? It's not like you're going to have early bolt action rifles and gatling guns up against Renaissance era units in the campaigns unless you use mods or do custom battles.
PUA is one of the best mods I have played in Total war full stop. They have just added new forts too in the latest patch, you can now recruit from them.
@@Kenanhower Darth mod makes everything easier trowing any kind of challenge trough the window, and Empire 2 is constantly crashing (and actually very unrealistic), so yes, PUA is better, much much better
Nice ive been hoping you'd do a video on this mod ive played nearly every mod available for Empire and have been recommended this mod many times maybe ill give it a shot now after my Imperial destroyer campaign :)
Hands down one of the best overhaul mods I've played, for total war and any game. It has really refreshed the whole experience for me and the updated sfx and vfx makes the game easily compete with if not surpass Napoleon. I'm barely 5 years into a campaign as Britain and other than two small naval battles with France (which were amazing due to the naval AI and ship morale changes) I've only had a few very small battles / skirmishes with rebels in Ireland and Scotland, the battle AI submods have made the AI actually feel fun to play against, gone are the crazy and pathetic AI attempts at forming a firing line, each unit now acts independently outside of direct engagement, which makes every battle far more dynamic. I've had a few of the most interesting battles I've ever had in TW and this is very early game with only 5 or 6 units on either side. The battles last much longer mainly due to the massively decreased accuracy of all units and the increased morale however morale shocks and advanced tactics are now more important than ever. It might feel like a bit of a slog for some but for me the extended battle time is a huge positive. If this mod had been a DLC I would have been happy paying good money for it. It's on par with the quality and refreshing feel of Fall of the Samurai for Shogun 2. I rate the mod 8/10, if it was a little easier to use and had more easily accessible information for the new campaigns features, etc, I'd rate it 10.
Hi Termi as always a top video! :-) Until now I didn't really have PUA on my radar. Thanks for the introduction! On the accuracy topic, you have to reduce the distance between your line and the enemy's. It's quite realistic actually. On stability, I agree, Empire II could be better although it's much better now than it was. I'll check this one out. Thanks @TheTerminatorGaming!

EB2 just made an update that “you will have no choice but to check out.” Jokes aside, it kicks ass, but you must install it outside of program files in order for it to be stable. If you do a video on that, I recommend you bring that up.
I haven't tried this mod to be honest even tho I have tried countless others over the years. It is mainly because of the meme name. If someone cannot come up with a proper name, what can you expect about everything else? But, this video of yours has made me give it a try at least. I am mainly interested in battles and units. What can you comment on those compared to Empire II? It has an amazing roster that is constantly being worked on and I can hardly see anything being better. So, I would appreciate your input. Nice video as always man, keep em coming. I can always look for you to give us amazing and up to date mod news.
Yeah, I think this mod is little known primarily because of the name. In general it's a funny story: originally the author wanted to make just playable pirates, as the name suggests, but then he didn't like how Russia looks in the game, and he made a historically accurate Russia, but then compared to the new Russia the other countries looked bad and the mod turned into a full conversion of the game. But the name never changed for some reason.
Terminator, I don't care where on your list the Crusader Wars mod is, you need to move it to the top. Can not tell you how much fun I've been having with this mod. 80hours of play time in the last month. Which doesn't sound that impressive until you consider I am a father and a fitness nut who runs his own business. Been having some late nights enjoying this mash up.
There is just something unique about this time period, where guns are good enough to be ur main troops but melee and cav still have a huge role to play. I wish ca would just put some effort into an amazing etw2. And honestly if they make a good game, they would make money. Even maybe matching the warhammer series. As it introduced many more people to total war. I think every total war fan would love another etw2
Wow this all sounds great 👍 personally I really like the idea of slower battles, I like having time to take it all in and work out flanking strategies :) Question: what have they done with forts? In vanilla forts would completely break the game because the attacking AI would.just sit outside and not do anything and often when a wall was destroyed, the whole thing would freeze up :/
Thanks for review, re-installed and have started playing again, apologies if this has been asked before, any idea how to make vdm show in English, great review 👍🏻🏴
This was a pain to set up, reading all the options/settings with sometimes confusing text. I finally got it all sorted and started a campaign as Prussia in 1703. I played one battle, and decided that was enough; One single canister shot repelled my cavalry charge, the "realistic" march speed and run speed is way too slow, I had three general's guard cav. charge a single line infantry from the side, and my main general died immediately, and all three general's guard units retreated. Perhaps I'm being unfair by not giving the thing more of a chance, but that was an infuriating experience, taking so long to set it up only to have a very disappointing battle immediately.
So I downloaded and played the mod, my big critique is that the rebellions are insane. Ex: I, as the Italian States, take Tunis because at war with the Barbary states. The mob peasantry have 11/12 base morale, that’s higher than line infantry at 7/8. I have to canister shot them down to 55/230 for them to finally retreat. Then, when I took Tripoli, and the rebel army spawned, I walked from the city to block their path and take the fight in the desert, and they just walked right around me without the ability to intercept and captured the city with no defensive battle???? I just quit at that point because i was 6 hours into the campaign.
Thanks for the warning. I was thinking about downloading this mod. I experienced something simiar in other mods that for some reason are trying too hard to change (fully working) base game mechanics. OP rebel spam doesn't sounds fun. Maybe try Darthmod? Old mod, but still quite fun and it doesn't have this annoying OP rebel spam system.
the public order is insane too. Alsace loraine had -81 public order on turn 4 normal difficulty for me, while every other province was green. I wanted to disable it but I couldnt.
Yeah I prefer PUA it just felt more enjoyable with the launcher options than Empire 2 and your recruitment screen isn't cluttered with unnecessary units like Empire 2.
That launcher window is presented in a way which appears intimidating.... Maybe after some tweaks to make it more approachable without having to read and interpret what each button means would be an amazing step forward, it just looks like developer WIP launcher mode :D
Here's a question,I can't seem to be able to read the text, it's so small that it's almost blurry. I tried BPfont but it doesn't seem to change it at all. Any suggestions?
Hi there, quick question. Around 11:25 you said it might be possible to set up Multiplayer Campaigns. This still means the way Empire and Napoleon handle Co-op campaigns correct? As in, you cannot play land battles together with one player spectating or gifting units to fight on your team like in newer Total War titles?
The thing that drove me away from PUA was the fact that I could never make any sort of meaningful progress because of Jamaica, Ireland, and Scotland constantly rising up, sacking ports, and destroying what little vital industry I had. Putting down those rebellions bankrupted me over and over again. I had to give myself a large sum of money by editing the ESF files to really have any fun.
Okay I loved this Game.... But the Original bug, in which a whole AI army would just stay frozen until you walked up and kicked it..... was a TOTAL game killer.... I may have to load er back up eh,..... Thanks for the video
Still no Africa, which is essential for an empire based game. Now modders have worked out how to edit the campaign map and add settlements anywhere they want, it should be doable.
Well you should explain all the submods and options of this mod. Because I tried it and everything is in broken english. I do see some potential, it does look more stable than Empire 2. But it also looks far less complete than Empire 2. The tech tree is much smaller, the progression stops at late 1700s whereas Empire 2 goes well into Napoleonic warfare. And the unit sizes seem far smaller/weirder, even modifying the multiplier. The artillery is less developed and realistic. It doesn't delete the UI visuals, and the formations are weird, leaving some weird spacing between units that can be annoying.
Not sure it's the right niche but if anyone's interested in hardcore Modern warfare from a PhD in military history & a TW modder, I strongly recommend Schwerpunkt's videos series. He also made an episode about pirates and corsair in the same period
PUA does a fantastic job with the AI, I love the improvements, but the accuracy no matter what setting for muskets is ridiculous, I know it gets better with skill, better soldiers, and technology, but its frankly sad to see 200 men shoot, even with no fire lines setting and miss every person in front of them point blank. I love the graphics updates, as in the water and building textures have a nice update, and I love the units and the way they look, I can't get myself to play with how bad the accuracy is. Some say its historically accurate, but soldiers could hit a 20 inch diameter at 300 ft, so a point blank shot should be lethal enough.
I really wanna play this mod and this game but is there a way to fix the slowdown in siege battles? That has been the one thing that has kept me from playing empire but i really want to cuz of how much there is over napoleon
Imagine playing Empire Total War with its broken campaign and battle AI and Paris/Madrid being huge provinces which capturing basically means eliminating France/Spain from the game. My biggest letdown in the history of gaming.
Looks cool! But what about that good old bug where AI-factions who is in control of regions around land bridges (like Gibraltar, the strait between Denmark and Sweden, and the crossing at Istanbul) wigs out, and keeps sending their units back and forth across the land bridge when its their turn, causing end-turn to take forever, or the game to straight up crash? We still have to contend with that..?
I tried this and it really annoyed me when your soldiers instantly routed from a cavalry charge and never came back. It pissed me really off when my unit ran away through the whole map and never tried to came back. Tried too with default tactics options = the same. Didnt found a solution for that.
The only thing holding this back is the poor translation on many units and even some countries. The launcher too could use a touch up, perhaps with better translation.
Welp, I guess it's time for another GB run. Jokes aside, I recently ragequited my 100turn Empire 2 campaign because of a crash in an important battle. I wish there was a proper Empire 2. Can you configure a number of models in a unit? ~150 units per unit seems low.
as much as i would like to play this mod i cant seem to launch it seeing how when i run the launcher it crashes within a few seconds, it pops up two small coding windows then a smaller box after it crashes indicating how long it ran and what errors occurred (which would say 0) and time ran. idk what im doing wrong, ive followed all the steps. i will note the ETW-PUA folder wasnt in the data files in the Empire total war directory idk if that makes a difference and i also extracted the two files ater the main one to see if that changes anything, but sadly it didnt so any help on this would be great.
I have a question, I'm trying to download pirates uber alles, imperial splender and imperial destroyer, but I don't know where to begin and in what order I should install these. I was curious to know how you went about installing them?
In the PUA mod manager can anyone tell me how to be able to assign more than one mod such as smoke and sound. When I try, the second mod I click cancels out the first clicked mod.
I cannot for the love of god get this mod to work. I followed all the tutorials and instructions I could find... as soon as I choose a campaign in the launcher and start a game with any faction, I cannot end the turn. the end. I click end turn and nothing happens. no idea what the problem is but I have given up on this mod
Are you supposed to drag the folders in to empire or extract, cause it doesn’t work for me, and it looked like you only draged the data folder in the desktop fix to the empire folder to the other one. Pls help
I really wanted to like this mod, but certain things frustrate me, I tried playing campaigns with the British Empire. What really discouraged me was that the USA appears in 1701??? Does anyone know if this is normal for the mod? It doesn't make any sense, at the beginning of the game you already have a new enemy and it makes no sense at all, I started the game because they said it was the most historically correct, it certainly isn't.

This is the best Empire mod hands down it is amazing!!!!!
this mod is my go-to mod when i want to do a pirate playthrough.
This is my go to mod for any nation, frankly. They do pirates as well as everyone else
you know whats interesting is ive found empire gun references in rome 2s db files.
я 6-7 лет назад принимал участие в разработке этого мода
Wow this all sounds great 👍 personally I really like the idea of slower battles, I like having time to take it all in and work out flanking strategies :)
Question: what have they done with forts? In vanilla forts would completely break the game because the attacking AI would.just sit outside and not do anything and often when a wall was destroyed, the whole thing would freeze up :/
Thanks for review, re-installed and have started playing again, apologies if this has been asked before, any idea how to make vdm show in English, great review 👍🏻🏴
Great video... Slightly related note: can Paradox just buy CA already? Just wondering.
fuck paradox too
God why? Pdx is dumbing down all their games while CA finds new ways to add on. Pharoh dynasty is awesome. Ck3 and V3 suck.
Yep count me in, I really wish the developer would revive the series.
Лучший мод на Империю и один из лучших в серии Тотал вар
I have a question. Could I have the names of all the mods you used please.
Have you tried fiddling with the launcher options? Some of your issues have settings in the launcher which change them.
@@CheriShin21 So you can disable new rebel/public order system and return to vanilla system?
@@inquerion8867don’t think so. Just grab another settlement.
the public order is insane too. Alsace loraine had -81 public order on turn 4 normal difficulty for me, while every other province was green. I wanted to disable it but I couldnt.
Now if I can only figure out how to make it run correctly (I’m new to run mods and it’s a process lol)
Oh man I would love a game like this but starting with the 30 years war...
6:56 you just need to let the rebels take the province and than take it back a no more rebels afterwards
Yeah I prefer PUA it just felt more enjoyable with the launcher options than Empire 2 and your recruitment screen isn't cluttered with unnecessary units like Empire 2.
Does darthmod still work for steam version of empire? I heard that it doesnt work after the latest update.
I believe it does now
That launcher window is presented in a way which appears intimidating.... Maybe after some tweaks to make it more approachable without having to read and interpret what each button means would be an amazing step forward, it just looks like developer WIP launcher mode :D
Idk man, there’s literally a button on the top left of the launcher window that tells you what all the buttons means. It’s pretty simple.
Cool mod even if(Darthmod Maybe a "Slugfest...")[Maratha Campaign Going Very Well Despite Crysis...
Here's a question,I can't seem to be able to read the text, it's so small that it's almost blurry. I tried BPfont but it doesn't seem to change it at all. Any suggestions?
we need one significant feature which that is when someone crash or leave an other player must control the army rather than ai
Hi there, quick question. Around 11:25 you said it might be possible to set up Multiplayer Campaigns. This still means the way Empire and Napoleon handle Co-op campaigns correct? As in, you cannot play land battles together with one player spectating or gifting units to fight on your team like in newer Total War titles?
hi ! @theterminatorgaming (and others), what is your preference btw Empire 2, darthmod and PUA ? Thanks :D
PUA
The thing that drove me away from PUA was the fact that I could never make any sort of meaningful progress because of Jamaica, Ireland, and Scotland constantly rising up, sacking ports, and destroying what little vital industry I had. Putting down those rebellions bankrupted me over and over again. I had to give myself a large sum of money by editing the ESF files to really have any fun.
@TheTerminatorGaming does PUA have 40 unit armies?
I really wanted to give this a shot. And I like a lot of things it does, it just changes a bit too much for my liking... I'm too used to Darthmod lol.
What does it change?
Okay I loved this Game.... But the Original bug, in which a whole AI army would just stay frozen until you walked up and kicked it..... was a TOTAL game killer....
I may have to load er back up eh,..... Thanks for the video
How are Fort Battles in this mod, did they remedy the terrible ai movement that grinds the game down to ultra slow motion?
Still no Africa, which is essential for an empire based game. Now modders have worked out how to edit the campaign map and add settlements anywhere they want, it should be doable.
hello term may i know what settings in the launcher you chose for those graphics bc mine looks pretty bad ngl
Empire 2 is very stable. So long as you run the LGA patch at least.
Not sure it's the right niche but if anyone's interested in hardcore Modern warfare from a PhD in military history & a TW modder, I strongly recommend Schwerpunkt's videos series. He also made an episode about pirates and corsair in the same period
whats with these botted comments
That guy needs to hire an editor.
how did you make the game look so good at 2:08?
Oh wow... this is great! And what is the best mod for Napoleon TW in your opinion?
Era mod Napoleon ! Absolutely wonderful, try it now !
Tough one, FCN is very good :)
As of now, is this mod still relatively better than Empire II?
Also, is it possible to play the US Campaigns with this mod?
Thanks!
does PUA also have nepoleonic units?
Haven’t encountered it myself
@@TheTerminatorGaming Yeah, it eventually happens if you play like 30+ turns.
Is it safe to download any of those mods for Total War: Empire?
This looks great but what the hell is going on with the lighting?
In campaign have -90 ocupation in every city in every faction how to fixed it?
What’s the additional reigons splendour adds wanna get back into empire
Does anyone know how to turn off the garrison script on this mod? Every time I attack a settlement, more garrison spawns in the city…
Welp, I guess it's time for another GB run.
Jokes aside, I recently ragequited my 100turn Empire 2 campaign because of a crash in an important battle. I wish there was a proper Empire 2.
Can you configure a number of models in a unit? ~150 units per unit seems low.
yes you can
as much as i would like to play this mod i cant seem to launch it seeing how when i run the launcher it crashes within a few seconds, it pops up two small coding windows then a smaller box after it crashes indicating how long it ran and what errors occurred (which would say 0) and time ran. idk what im doing wrong, ive followed all the steps. i will note the ETW-PUA folder wasnt in the data files in the Empire total war directory idk if that makes a difference and i also extracted the two files ater the main one to see if that changes anything, but sadly it didnt so any help on this would be great.
I have a question, I'm trying to download pirates uber alles, imperial splender and imperial destroyer, but I don't know where to begin and in what order I should install these. I was curious to know how you went about installing them?
It's not a good idea to install more than one major mod. Decide which one you want and then install that one alone.
How did you make the game look so good ?
Check out my graphics guide :)
so does multiplayer campaigns work?
In the PUA mod manager can anyone tell me how to be able to assign more than one mod such as smoke and sound. When I try, the second mod I click cancels out the first clicked mod.
my only question is, do i move the RAR file itself ? or only whats inside the RAR file after unpacking ?? that part has always screwed me up mod wise.
i literally follow his guide and when it comes time to click on the launcher theres just no launcher to be found lol
and now that i got the launcher up, theres no option for play, and clicking anything just crashes it, yeaaaaaaaahhhhhh less bugs he says lol
After, I played this for the first time last month, I can never go back to Darth mod 😅. Although installing this 30GB beast was a bitch and a half 😢
Is pua can select faction like greece or scotland??
I've had an ongoing battle with PUA for like a week now. Can't get it to run properly.
Modders should be able to help!
Dear Terminator. Everytime I tried to install NTW3 It just Download For Days or just doesn’t Download. Whats the Reason?
Ask the modders? No idea haha. I haven’t downloaded it for a while but I’ll have a look later :)
Pls help
Yep you should be able to drag folders. No idea why you might be having trouble with that tbh. Might be worth asking the modders in the discord!
Read the readme that comes with the mod.
Can you play emergent factions like Ireland?
I really wanted to like this mod, but certain things frustrate me, I tried playing campaigns with the British Empire. What really discouraged me was that the USA appears in 1701??? Does anyone know if this is normal for the mod? It doesn't make any sense, at the beginning of the game you already have a new enemy and it makes no sense at all, I started the game because they said it was the most historically correct, it certainly isn't.
Is there a mod yet that prevents and Indian superpower that I always seem to run into later in the game?
