Such a genteel stroll and so pleasing to see street after street of terraced houses without knee high piles of household filth, drug paraphenalia, and discarded mattresses, fridges etc. - these are people who care for their homes and the wider community (didn't see many, if any, boarded up properties). I rememember my mum and others in our street, on their knees, caressing the steps ( of a 3-up, 2-down terrace with no front garden, no internal water or toilet, and backing onto a canal - honestly, the best years of my life) with Cardinal Red. I have another vague memory that Maryland Cookies were originally Symbol Maryland Cookies, and they had hazelnuts in them.
When I was a kid living in Layton my mum used to work the evening shift in what was Symbols biscuits and always brought home a waxed paper bag of broken biscuits…..you could smell the vanilla smell of the factory in my mums back garden. The bit where you started off used to be a trendy women’s fashion store “Georgie Blackburns” back in the early 70’s. Streets seem so empty now….back in the day there was always people about.
Another great video Stephen love to watch your walks, my wife and i have been to Blackpool many times for the lights and used to love the chip shops, its great you show different places that are good and on the cheaper side leaves more pennies for the machines; only joking i know its moved on since the pennies please keep the videos coming.
Hi Stephen good to see you in a new area, made more interesting by your knowledge and commentary... Did you enjoy your free bag of chips, nice lady... It's very mild for the time of year, although we are forecast to have high winds and rain over the weekend... Until the next one, keep on vlogging
Evenin I sit comfortly waitin for you video to start 😂 that’s a busy road it’s lit up good though that’s the longest terrace I’ve ever seen not many people in their homes no lights on 😊what a shame you lost the talking what a nice lady givin you those chips how kind brilliant video till the next one 😊
Evening George hope you're ok. Weathers turned very nasty tonight, very cold windy and wet. Glad the building works been done and sorted yesterday, we have snow forecast Friday night into Saturday. Hate it. Looks lovely but don't like walking in it, always afraid of falling. Well take care spk soon ,goodnight 😊x
Evening Stephen, great walk around, good to see different areas of Blackpool, horrible weather here just now, very windy and heavy rain and colder too, snow forecast Friday night in to Saturday,oh joy ❄️❄️❄️☃️thanks take care bye for now 😊x
Good evening Hazel i hope you are well it's been raining here most of the day and i got soaked tonight when i was at a meeting I'm going to have an early night my CPN is coming in the morning take care and i hope to speak to you soon 🎅
As you turned left in the bck alley it was the old blackpool rock factory (used to collect the run offs back in the day lol) lived on handsworth road, big bonfires on the spot where the new housing is, but that was where the claremont seniors used to be, good times. thanks for the vid as always Steve. Ps, water tower and rock gardens never get a hit, the council keep it nice, worth a look
Interesting walk around Layton area Stephen. That biscuit factory looks all the world like a prison with that fencing around it. Nice of the lady to present you with a tray of chips. That slow mode looks well cool, should try it sometime for an effect. The new Jaguar just absolutely awful. Nice to see its roots there though.
Thanks for your video Stephen, biscuit factory looks huge wonder if they do factory tours. Custard creams yum! Beacon of hope looks stunning, love it against the dark sky. Love going walkabout with you around Blackpool, it's got more to offer than you think. Short of a present? Stephens calendars make good ones. Just make sure you put the right name on it otherwise Confucius reigns!😊
Evening steven it Looks cold and wet in blackpool tonight those random houses in a quare courtyard with no gardens looked abit odd lol and the bargin booze thats the beer monsters outlet lol but quite a buisy cross roads you were on there it looks quite easy to get around in blackpool theres quite alot of transport links which is great but isnt is nice having the promenade right on your doorstep those tiles under the bridge are like the tiles in my bathroom lol very fancy i think my dog stella would love the walk around those streets she would definitely have a good sniff about there specially around the housing estates some nice areas youve shown us all there. You can just about see parts of the illuminations in the distance but i usually get the buiscites and cup of tea on the go whilst i wait to wach your video your definatly a good estate tour guide hope the weather isnt to bad there its frosty in portsunlight tonight and really windy 2 but blackpool has some very unusual style buildings brilliant to watch thanx again for tonights upload ❤️✋👍😊
It was an interesting video, thank you. How long were those terraced houses!!! Did you notice that the new houses you came out on on Handsworth Road also looked terraced, not so long as the others though! I didn't think they built 'terraced' houses any more! Thanks for my daily dose of Walk on the Wildside.❤
Great vlog some places were in reverse so saw the other side if things, Chips are always nicer when bought by someone else, I wonder if they have a misshaped biscuit shop in the factory, chocolate covered ones of course, Looked on Google maps and next door the Layton Cemetery and it's over 3 times bigger than the biscuit site, I wonder how many people in the grave yard worked in the factory, that was when a job was for life with baby stops on the way and then the kids got a job in the factory, a family affair. 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪👍
Great video Stephen. So interesting looking around different parts. Have you thought about the streets up south, past the pleasure beach or the areas near the airport. X
Thanks Stephen. Chuck em in the bin 😮that's a terrible thing to say 😂..... You either say no thank you or eat them. Chuck em in the bin, what are you like. 😂
It must be a right pollarvar taking the bins out for that long row of terraced houses! 😳 Loved this walk, thanks 🌈✝️🕊️😇😘🥰😍 x x x That’s just typical isn’t it..that guy wanted to chat and the audio didn’t work 🤪
@ bummer! Not as bad as me..I once got persuaded to take a couples wedding pics ..all non professional, just a cheap do, I was learning about photography at the time …and found at the end that I didn’t have a film in 😱, a couple of decades ago now, I felt sick 🤢 and wished I’d never been persuaded into it! Never again 🤪 x x x
I much prefer the terraced houses to the new builds. I remember the Claremont area for the red brick terraced houses and the red garden walls. Like someone else said on the comments when I watch your videos it makes you feel as though you are actually walking with you,
Come down Normoss Normoss rd. small shrinking village on edge of staining. Newton arms. Chippy shops then fields to Hardhorn. Small area of Blackpool mate
Not the best thing to say about the chips, should you throw them in the bin. That was almost implying that you did not trust a kind gesture from a lady who was just trying to be kind. Don't end up arrogant like the McMaster, as most people hate him now !!

I love the smell of biscuits baking. We have McVities in Stockport. By the way, a school near me Egerton Park, everyone pronounces it Ejerton.

Great video Stephen.Good to see various areas of Blackpool.👍
"Walkin', on the moon" plus free chips - job's a good 'un😄
Like your videos they are very informative you have inspired me to go for walks. The last one I fell and sprained my ankle so out of action.
Hi Steven I used to live on Claremont Road was council and private dwellings back in the 1980s my brother worked in symbols biscuits
Another great video Stephen thank you 😊
I lived on Clevedon Road as a kid in the early 80s and everyone pronounced Egerton with a soft g.
I still use Fahrenheit ...was brought up with it , annoys me everyone now using centigrade 😂
Great video Stephen!

Great video ❤👍
Stephen. Never mind the ad. Have you seen the latest things they are producing as Jags.😂👍
‘Edgerton’ like the actor…Taron Egerton
Great video
Would you like to get in touch offline and discuss Blackpool, it's history and all that was never quite acceptable back in the day.
You can get hold of me here stephencheatleyphotography.co.uk/contact-me
Hi Stephen hope your well
You're correct Stephen, Foxdale is on the Isle of Man
Thanks David.

That’s just typical isn’t it..that guy wanted to chat and the audio didn’t work 🤪
Yeah, that was annoying. Apparently it was inadvertently set to super slomo 120 frames per second & that mode does not record audio.

Are the wild life cameras under layton Bridge for the nuisance pigeons?
Its pronounced Edgerton even though its not spelt with a d in the word.Nobody ive asked pronounce it Eggerton.
Stay safe whilst you're filming 🙏.. if I win lottery I'll buy one of those flats and go to isle of man lol
Whatever happened to Claremont Park Stephen? Just wondered whether that housing estate was where it stood
@@stevedevey3147 You can see the park on my last Claremont vid.

What happened to Claremont school?
Probably been renamed. There is still a school on Claremont Road.

@@AWalkontheWildSideBlackpool No need to be sorry mate, I really like your content, just don't go the way some of the youtubers have gone.

Steven. Those are French fries. You can eat your French fries while walking through the parking lot.
