    They should be playing this on a loop in the theatre on Main Street. I would stand there and watch the entire thing then go outside and see how much has changed.

    Few strollers, no wheelchairs/scooters, people well dressed -- not like they're going to a beer-blast BBQ in the back yard.

    30 years later, those sideway hotels trams were still in use backstage to shuttle parade performers to/from step-off locations behind Small World and Main Street. They finally disappeared from sight around 1990.

    Note the amount of farmland around the park.
    Today there are fragmentary strawberry fields scattered around still selling their seasonal crops -- now the 6th generation farmers.
    So much has changed...

      @bighands69 8 лет назад

      The reason for that is because they stopped building in open spaces and claimed it was because of the Environment.
      That has meant that they have had to build on existing developed land like farm land.

    re: the narrator Winston Hibler- I just read that when they were trying to cast HAL in 2001 A Space Odyssey, Kubrick specifically named Hibler's Disney narrations as an example of what he should sound like. P.S. I grew up in Fullerton CA in the 1970s, me and my friends used to ride our bikes to the Disneyland Hotel and hang out by the monorail station there, keeping an eye out for tourist kids who looked cool enough to let us copy their invisible ink handstamps to scam our way into the park for free.

    People of my generation weep over what we lost out on. The baby boomers lived in the greatest time America has ever know, in a matter of one or two generations this has been wiped out forever. Heart Breaking. Thank God for places like Disneyland where one can escape for a few glorious hours.

    Not many know about the fact that you can go into the castle! Go through the draw bridge and turn left. You will see an open doorway, and when you enter, the stairs will take you up and through the castle to the other side. Kids love it!

    And you can see how space isn't so widely used back then. Many open spaces that today have been cramped with more attractions, kiosks, an of course, people. Foliage has taken over to hide much of what is meant to remain hidden and seems like safety wasn't as big a deal as it is today. No roped off areas or safety rails are as evident.

      It's almost as if the population back then was less prone to crime, theft, violence, and vandalism than crowds today. I wonder why that is...

    The decline of the Disney Co. parallels the decline of America. We need to once again become a nation that's proud of its heritage, history, and birthright, not a nation obsessed with movies, comics, video games, other distractions, and political correctness.

      +Joe295398 I'm a pretty big Star Wars fan yet I highly agree with you! All these new companies that Disney is merging with is taking away what was once the magical nostalgic Disney awesomeness that I grew up with. This new land they're building will make Disney an even more crowded and hectic theme park -- and its bad even now. All about business and money is what it is.
