I was born in 1977, so I graduated high school and turned 20 in the nineties. This was my musical decade growing up! And the fact that some songs still work today (like believe or waiting for tonight) shows that this was a sensational musical decade. (And bear in mind, they covered only the dance part of it!)
Great reaction. Thanks. That was fun. Glad that you liked it. Please react to their cover of "Come Along". As a vocal teacher, I think that you will enjoy it. They describe themselves as a bunch of choir nerds and they let it fly in that video.
Hi, Lauren, lovely to see you again as always! This is such a fun collection of songs and they kill the sound and the visuals alike...just great fun. Thanks for covering it!
Pentaholic Born in 1946 so this music was out of my "Wheelhouse". When I first listened to this medley I didn't recognize any of the songs except for Believe. I only recognized 2 of the artists. Cher and J Lo . I love this video. I enjoy the rhythms. It is great music to dance to, so well presented. If you listen to a side by side, it is amazing how well they cover the originals. Thank you for sharing your emotions about remembrances from your youth.
I was born in 1983, and I recognized all of these sings. But even at 38, I'm an old 'fuddy duddy' who doesn't keep up with new music. So when they cover songs by recent artist, I don't recognize hardly any of the songs. They might as well all be Pentatonix originals to me.
You had such a beautiful smile while listening to the Medley!! It was obvious that you were totally enjoying it (as I did too obviously)... I loved to see your reaction!! Please keep it up!! Thank you!!😉
I love your reactions to PTX. I learn a lot from your comments. I had been disappointed that you hadn't done a PTX reaction in about 6 months. I was very happy to see this one posted. My very strong vote for your next PTX reaction would be the Official Video for "Amazing Grace". I think you will really enjoy that one. One of the other commenters below mentions "Come Along". That is one of my favorites. It's not one of their more well known songs, only about 10 million views, but up tempo and always gets me into a good mood. It has kind of an "Alice in Wonderland" vibe to it. I am hoping I won't have to wait another 6 months for another one of your PTX reactions. Keep up the good work.
I was born in 82 and these songs were the jam throughout my later childhood and teenage years. Granted by the time I was a teen I was listening to only country music.
HI Lauren, I sound like a broken record, but I just knew you would like this as I knew you would like Voctave . It was so much fun to get a chance to actually see you really enjoy a song . With your background, I think it is harder to really enjoy a song sometimes as you have listened and performed and tought so many, it is not hard to become a bit jaded. Perhaps not the exact word to use, but you know what I mean , It would hard to impress you to be honest unless it is really good. I think I could say this was really good. It is pretty nuts. I think I enjoyed it a much as you did. It was such a fun piece of music for us 90's people. Holy Cheese Muffins !
Hi Anne, Not sure about this i think it perhaps was an editing or download error that I didn't catch. I have someone else edit these but now its up so i'll just keep it that way. Thanks for the heads up!
@@SingingwithLauren On a positive note, at least it's probably changed enough to avoid any blocks even though you are good with the choice pause times as well. Great reaction, as usual, take care :)
Lauren, you had a puzzled look on your face when Kirstie sang Cher's "Believe", like you knew that her voice was autotune. It was because they were paying "homage" to her song, which was the first recording ever to use autotune....genius, huh !! Oh...Can you Dance Now!
Well not the first to use autotune, but the first to use it as a vocal effect rather than for pitch correction. Face it, it's not Believe without autotune wizardry!
Loved your reaction! I could tell you were trying to 'hold yourself back', but you could've 'cut loose' - I would've loved to see it! P.S.- tell your 'special one' that they should realize how lucky they are!
I was born in 1990 and was raised in a small town where there was only two things to do, ever. The younger kids went to the skate rink and the adults went to the rodeo. This is what we listened to when we would skate....memories, ahhh.
I'm way older than a 90s kid, but I was doing my heaviest clubbing in the 90s, so yeah, serious flashbacks! And I'm starting to believe that Kirstie may be J-Lo's long-lost daughter! There are 17 songs in this medley, which leads me to believe that this is a promo medley of a new 90s Dance Music covers album. They released this one completely by surprise with little or no advanced publicity, so it caught even the most ardent Pentaholics by surprise.
I'm also from '92, some songs I vaguely remember, others more because maybe in my country they have become more famous (I'm Italian), for example 'Believe' I recognize it ... others I vaguely recognize the song, but if you ask me the title I could not tell you. =]
Sounds like your video playback speed is set to a faster setting compared to the original version of the pentatonix video. All of these songs are going at a faster beat than they should.
I want your opinion on something, as a vocal coach... I’m a second bass, so Kirstie’s range and tonality is beyond my expertise. If you were to compare her voice and J. Lo’s voice on the second “Oh oh oh!,” who do you think did it better?
Anyone struggling with titles/artists head over to Pentatonix channel on RUclips and view the official video there. Full breakdown of all the songs used is in the comments. Don't forget to give them a like while you're there Good reaction Lauren
I watched an interview with Ben Brahm, their producer/arranger and he admits that there is some production work done, layering and maybe reverb but not much else. The idea being that what you hear in concert is pretty much what you hear from their recordings. There is a great live video of "Love Me When I Don't" from the Kelly Clarkson show ruclips.net/video/4YLKWhIyCXg/видео.html since you like those performances. You should react to that one.
I'm sure Pentatonix have good editors, but in lots of ways this music video is in exactly the same style as the one for the Daft Punk medley, which won them their first Grammy: that music video was shot in their apartment and cost them about $400.
I agree. It's too fast. They all have a certain "Mickey Mouse" quality. This isn't the first reactor that I've heard this on, however. I don't know if it's them or if YT is doing something on its own that the reactors can't control.

I'd love to hear them do a full cover of Cher's Believe.
They were originally going to sing Believe in The Sing Off on guilty pleasure week, but changed it at the last minute to Video Killed The Radio Star.
Great reaction. Thanks. That was fun. Glad that you liked it. Please react to their cover of "Come Along". As a vocal teacher, I think that you will enjoy it. They describe themselves as a bunch of choir nerds and they let it fly in that video.

I was born 93, 90s baby appreciating this music and all music.
Loving Lauren the Fangirl! 😍 I am really impressed by their ability to mimic drum machines and synthesizers, and dang they all look so good!
the best decade ever for club/dance music
Love your PTX reactions! Hope you decide to do more, they’re all great! 💙

Always love your reactions!!! My children enjoyed these songs!! Mine are from the 50’s !! Keep smiling!!🤗

I loved the joy on your face while watching this video! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face with your reaction.
Feel so good by sonique. I forgot, this song exist. Thx ptx for this journey back. 👌

My '90s were spent wearing flannels and listening to grunge, so these songs only hit the edge of my radar. That said, ptx is great as always.
I just want to say that your smile is so contagious 💖 BTW i love the reaction! Looking forward for more reactions

i love voctave, nobody sounds like them.
Tempo adjusted? Why?
I was just checking the comments for the same reason. I’ve heard this video at least 20 times, I could tell it was sped up. So weird 🤷♀️
Yesssss!!! So fast!!! Why???

Us that were born in the 80s are the ones that remember all these songs because my teenage years were spent listening to these.

They also used a touch of it in Blue, because it's blue so you have to.
They use it to make the "Cher effect". Because Cher made this kind of effect famous

I love this reaction so much 😂😂😂 you can tell she wants to dance and singalong so badly just like the rest of us at home lol so adorable lol
I love Mitch's Scarface look.
Yep, '91 kid here. I recognize most of these songs but I only know the titles/artists of a couple.
The recently released a brand new album of originals if you didn't know🙂 it's called The Lucky Ones
Yep definitely taking me back! 89 here
I'm also from '92, some songs I vaguely remember, others more because maybe in my country they have become more famous (I'm Italian), for example 'Believe' I recognize it ... others I vaguely recognize the song, but if you ask me the title I could not tell you. =]
I love them switching clothes by song, I was 30 something in that decade....
Oof my I’m from 86’ sooo I know them ALL 😋🤣 but yes their work is amazing. The transitions are quick, but fun. 🥰
Most of these songs came from Europe. Were they also as popular in the US ?
I m not 90's kid but still taking me back😂
If you want to compare side by side - originals with PTX versions - check out the video "Pentatonix 90s Dance Medley Side by Side".
'92, huh? Roughly the same age as my daughter ... and for the matter, the Trio of Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch.
Did you had the video on 1.25x cause it seems faster then all the reactions i ve watched...

I’m an 83 baby I remember the club playing this.
Why can't today's pop or dance songs be as catchy as the ones from the 90s, or 80s?
Could you please react to Voiceplay - Oogie Boogie Song. It's amazing

Is this sped up?
sounds speeded up???
Am i going crazy, or is the audio slightly pitched up? Why is this?

I' am from 77 i passed the 90THs
Hi dear friend
Have you ever listened to Iranian music?
I will introduce you to some of the best Iranian music.

I'm a 97 guy
Hola guapa.los PTX son todo un phenomeno,mira All i Ask-Angelina Jordan...te gustara..🌹🤗
Can you please react to Garbage song called Magnetized
Please
Why does this sound sped up
Not trying to be rude, I’m just pointing it out! After listening to this over and over I can tell that there’s something wrong with your speed!
I agree. It's too fast. They all have a certain "Mickey Mouse" quality. This isn't the first reactor that I've heard this on, however. I don't know if it's them or if YT is doing something on its own that the reactors can't control.
I’m not sure either, but I have seen other youtubers notice and change it.
I think you’re playing it in super speed because that is not how they sound!!
