I lived in S Lake Tahoe for a good while and this happened a couple times. Idiots leaving their garbage bags out to bait the wildlife, and then throwing them Cheerios from their balcony so they could get pictures. All kinds of stupid tourists and flatlanders getting innocent wild animals euthanized. We lost a mom of two cubs that way. Idiocy.
You expect dim-witted tourists to act like yahoos. The person scratched had NO business being that close to a wild bear during it's ramblings. Sounds like the acts of poor judgement didn't stop there.
How about a Bear Cemetery for bears killed because of human negligence. With a headstone of the the bears name, date and location of the incident. Have it somewhere that would be visible. Smokey the Bear educates about the dangers of wildfire. Victor the Bear could be part of an education campaign to inform visitors about the dangers of wild animals. Like you suggested.
Thanks for bringing this to Our attention. I'm so sorry for Victor the Bear. He deserves a proper burial and I hope They make people aware of wild animals and its their country as much as it is Ours and They personally have more rights in the wild. People can be really foolish. I really hope They do something proper for Victor and May He Rest In Peace. (not a garbage dump) 😢 🕊 💖 🙏 🐻
Gary Shelton.has written two really good books about Black Bears and Grizzly Bears . Once you read these books I guarantee you will not treat them like tame animals. Victor was one nice looking Bear. Sorry to see him disrespected by the ones who dumped him at the landfill.
It was a tiktocker that left the bear container open to get him to come over and she was taking a Picture. It was maliciously done. If anything they should have relocated him. He was a gentle giant and he would never hurt anyone he actually bumped into my son once literally brushed up against him and kept walking I think just to let my son know I'm here.
He seems to be doing the same here. He wasn't aggressive. Almost seems the equivalent to my cat running up and "swiping" no claws out. Just a hey, I'm here.
7:01 is where the bear is seen in the video. At 7:26 he swipes at the person standing on a stump who does not move away when the bear first approaches a second picnic table, no injuries occurred, everyone laughing like it's so funny. The OUTCOME: the bear was killed when these people left food out to lure him in so they could get pictures. Unbelievable, and oh so wrong.
QUESTION: Can the disregarding campers be held legally liable? Contributing to demise of the bear? Not following the NFS campground rules? Fine for feeding the wildlife? This is similar to "bear baiting"! while hunting. Are residents fined for not properly securing their waste? Would that be similar? TERRIBLE!!!
We used to camp several times a year in the Eastern Sierra. We always saw bears and had them walk through our camp, as well. We would see them in the middle of the night on the way to the bathroom….. We always understood to stay out of their way.
I like your videos, but I couldn't watch this one to the end. It wasn't because of you but it was because I'm already discussed with humankind and their carelessness around wildlife. We had a group of wild turkeys in our area and people didn't like them so the town got rid of them. They were the last bit of natural wildlife to live openly in my area. When will people learn animals don't belong in zoos and we need them to live with us. Poor Victor. I hope the protest do something favorable. Those campers should be charged a fine.
Humans are the most invasive species. That bear was doing bear things in bear space, the reckless humans should be held accountable, not the bear. The campers shown and the officials who hunted & shot Victor, are in the wrong.
Sad to hear about Victor the Bear, to bad they didn't transfer him to a new area but I can also see that they didn't want the bear thinking people are a food source. Most city people are idiots, too many trash campsites. As an RV van nomad, I see it all the time. Pack it in pack it out.
If you see the original video from the campers, the lady standing on a tree stump close to Victor was not moving and stood on the tree trunk. Then Victor saw her, kind of swiped her real quick but it looks like he didn’t really mean to harm her bc she ran away after that happened.
I didn’t see any excessive food and trash on the ground anywhere like is being claimed. The law is to not have food out if the camp is unattended. It is unfortunate for the bear but this is very common problem anywhere bear populations are. Also people get way to comfortable with wildlife especially in camp grounds.
Wrong, the bear lockers are to be closed, even when dining... Food on the table is disposable, and if a bear comes in camp you notify campers near you and give ground. These are the rules, you don't stand by an open bear box with camera in hand!

Sorry to hear of the loss of Victor the bear. May the Lord grant him a place in heaven in Jesus' mighty name, amen.

It's never the bears fault
It's humans who pull.these stunts..RIP VICTOR!!
It's absolutely infuriating when idiots drink and double their idiocy. RIP Victor, you didn't deserve this.
Sorry you had to bring this sad news to us, thanks, I do appreciate it

a devastating story
It's thier home he was being a bear wild animal rip Victor
That was it? A harmless swat that the kid walked away from? It’s their fault in the first place for leaving out the food.
People who don’t respect the woods, should not be camping, period. Rest in Peace Victor.
I think you run a restaurant up here? We are in town this weekend it would be cool to meet you!
Were the ignorant tourists fined? You say no one is there to enforce the rules. Then how did the bear get killed?
Time to change the regulations!
Thank you for sharing..
he must be a young bear. never feed or get near them. rip little bear.
That's all he did?!?! That's nuts!
Can we please find the names of the ignorant campers? For educational purposes.
That's not even ignorance. That is stupidity. No excuse at all for that. You cannot even educate those people.
Please, these people need to be held accountable.
RIP Victor. 😢😢😢😢😢😢

That was a warning ‼️ from the bear say your to close. There could have been a serious attack !
That’s terrible!!
Ren is a Wolf!
Tourons
Wait… did Victor attacked someone?

You need something to muffle the wind thru your microphone 😊.
Can't watch your video, too much wind noise in your microphone.
Man or bear
definitely not man ! not sorry

How about go to safety when you encounter a bear? Common sense get TF out of the way? Survival of the fittest at it's finest.

A scenario such as this was absolutely inevitable at some point. Unfortunate, but inevitable!
It wasn’t inevitable, humans need to be more respectful
