This is way to beautiful to be a parady. I guess if I had seen both shows I would understand the joke... I watched the Higurashi op to try to understand. I don't have much of an interest since I've been dissapointed by animes with Lesibian characteristics before (too slow) and more than satisfied with this beautiful animation. I've even favorited this so keep at it!
