Singing is not Shaon’s profession but her passion. “My mother had a great taste in music and it seeped into me,” Shaon says with a smile. During her childhood each morning began with music with Ranbindranath’s or Nazrul’s songs as well as old Bengali movie songs as staples. “So Whatever I’m doing, song is there for me casting the backdrop. When I worked in ‘Nokkhoter Rat,’ I used to sing and Humayun Ahmed (the late litterateur who was her husband) used to compliment a lot. It made me so glad that I went on practicing and today if I can sing it’s all because of the rigorous practices sessions,” She adds.

চট্টগ্রাম নিয়ে শাওনের স্মৃতি চারন ও অনেক অজানা কথা জেনে চট্টগ্রামবাসী হিসেবে খুবই ভালো লাগলো । তবে হুমায়ুন আহমেদের সাথে চট্টগ্রামের যে একটি নিবিড় সম্পর্ক ছিলো সেটা উপস্থাপক সাহেব বা শাওন কারোর কাছেই শুনলামনা। যতদুর জানি তার শৈশব কাল তার পিতার চাকরি সুত্রে চট্টগ্রামে কেটেছে এবং তিনি চট্টগ্রাম কলেজিয়েট স্কুলের ছাত্র ছিলেন ।

এত ঢং এত কথা যুক্তি পৃথিবীতে আর কেউ জানে বলে আমার সনধেও আছ হায় এতেই তো হুমায়ূন শেষ তার চলনে বলনে অভিনয়।
গানটা বিকৃত সূরে অনেকবার শুনেছি। বিশেষ করে নবনীতার সুরটা ভালো লাগেনি। বাজে ছিল। মেহের আফরোজ শাওনের সুরে গানটার আসল সুর উপভোগ করলাম। যদি পুরো গানটা শুনতে পারতাম ভালো লাগতো।
