I've been saying for years that Skechers has the tech to make a great basketball shoe, I just don't think they have the design team.
Tech? They stole all the "tech" from Nike and Adidas now even Under armour.
It looks like they’re made for kids the playful bright colors, Lego style..1 color on top of the other…with no purpose of styling or fashion.. childish respectfully. Some bright colors are cool but they have purpose and flow that makes tech sense. A grown up approach.. like when companies take styling questions from sports cars & etc.

I think first of all, they look better than 90% of current models from the major brands, and as I don't play anymore, I might actually give these a try, since Sketchers have always made super comfortable shoes.
I’m on the same train of thought as u in terms of the pricing of the shoes. As u said, we’re used to Skechers being around the sub $100 range, but I also understand that they’re new models. Imo, $150 is a bit steep to introduce urself into a competitive basketball niche. New balance’s two way series is $120-130, and puma’s all-pro nitro is $130; both are already tried and true ball shoes, and are sub $150.
$110 would have been a pretty good starting point for me. There's too many great options for cheaper from brands that my mind can get behind. I want to try these but honestly only if they get on sale under $100.

@@TitusMH has nothing to do with affording it. But I'm going to grab a Puma All Pro Nitro for $130 before I even consider buying Skechers for $110 let alone $150. I can get a Two Wxy for $120. I can get a AG4 for $100.
The point is Skechers came in too high with the price point for where we are in basketball sneaker culture. Too many brands putting out great products for less.

sketchers also just started making high end soccer cleats and so far they’ve gotten good reviews. they did sign a lot of former nike designers so they have some obvious inspiration
I never thought I would say this, but the first one you showed actually looks really cool, and I like that green bean colorway.
I was shocked they priced them at $150. I would have guess $120 max. I like the one with the foam rubber outsole, I already for the name. They do not look bad visually.
For comparison, the New Balance Two Wxy v4 is $120 and the New Balance Fresh Foam BB is $130. That’s more like it as far as pricing when your company is not in the upper echelons of the basketball shoe space.
I have the float Randle's in red and black. I absolutely love them. They are fantastic on court and absolutely perfect as cross trainers in the gym. Keep in mind also that both of these are NBA player signature models. The Float is Julius Randle's new signature, and the Resagrip's are Terence Mann's new signature so that also may be part of the higher price. Like I said I have the floats and they are fantastic.
They’re not signature shoes. The NBA athletes signed an endorsement deal. They endorse the product they’re paid to wear. Doesn’t mean they won’t get a signature shoe, but as of now that isn’t the case.

Props to Sketchers and you for doing this review.. I’d like to try these on a tennis court, they seem well built for most anything.. But $150.. Maybe catch a sale.. I like the darker ones better..
I think the use of Goodyear to create a Flow like foam traction wasn't great for cost reasons but it appears these will be solid on court performers. Looking forward to Jackson's review.
I think they had to bring Goodyear or some other established brand in or they wouldn't sell any of those, I think it will help but how much, probably not enough

I have a pair of skecher hiking boots with the Goodyear soles and the soles are top quality.

I've been waiting on this. As crazy as it is to see Skechers have a basketball division, I have been intrigued to see if they're actually good or not. Right off the bat, the price point is extremely too high. I was expecting $100 tops.
I'm not completely surprised by these, I know that Skechers has been making baseball shoes for Clayton Kershaw for a few years, so why not branch out into basketball? These don't look too bad, but I would definitely need to see them in hand. Thanks for another entertaining video from Weartesters!
I slightly disagree with the Curry / UA comparisons on the looks. The SKX RESAGRIP looks like Russ' Why Not Zer0.2s because of the heel looking decoupled. The Spine comparison does fit though.
You can also say they just took the JCrossover 2's heel setup and put whatever else on.
it's the one piece midsole-outsole foam and outsole pattern that draws comparison, but other than that I don't see the Currys at all

They began doing football/soccer/fútbol shoes and they seem great. They hired ex-Nike designers and developed they models. Al tough you Can notice “the school” they are not copying at all.
SKX is the official stock market code for skechers and I think it's also to distinguish their performance product from their regular lifestyle product

The first pair isn't bad looking but I would have taken the S off the back heel and gone with a minimalist look.. This was there chance to separate themselves from what people expect Skechers to be. I would have just done something subtle on the tongue.
In terms of them looks and feeling like another brand, Skechers are known to be lurking through trade shows. This history dates back to their first brand, La Gear.

Price shouldn't be surprising if you're familiar with their Running Performance brand. Their running shoes are awesome and priced within other top brand prices.
This is the comment I was looking for. A lot of people are paying prices for running. The miss might be how different the consumer bases are for running vs basketball. I could see dudes rocking these at the Y, but not at $150.
Love the review as always, but man, you went at them hard for biting the designs from under armour, but i think thats a bit of a stretch honestly. I dont really see it other than using the “flow” style outsole foam tech.

I think they need to redesign their logo specifically for performance sports models to set them apart from the kid/old person models they have been selling. Or create a sub brand.
Sketchers Performance has been pretty good in my experience. Their issue is that the sketchers brand is associated with cheap shoes so I don’t think a lot of people are going to be open to paying these prices and most assume they’re going to be kinda shitty. But the performance and quality is there.

Skechers are hella aggressive now with their SKX performance line, esp when they signed Harry Kane for a football boot deal. The boots are great and are on-par with top speed boots (per reviews), but for the hoop shoes that I’m not sure of.
Tho I’m not keen on the visuals of their debut hoop shoes, color me intrigued for their next models hopefully (and at a better price point lmao).
Skechers went back 10 years and start their performance bball and soccer lines. They did same with the soccer clear they released, it's like a dupe of an older Nike cleat, and the price is up with the other top cleats in the market. Figured Skechers would come in lower

AS far as price, if you look at the website they are pretty expensive. I think that buy one get one half off fools some people into thinking theyare cheap. But leaving there can actually cost a pretty penny . Now that we have done this brand... will you start looking at international brands aside from Anta? Maybe brands from Australia, Japan, Europe, ???

How would these perform in pickleball or tennis?..I tried the resa grip purple ones...and they were much more comfortable than their pickleball shoes...the only thing was the price point. I would have probably paid between $75 to $100 no questions asked...but $150 Seems high for a sketchers shoe...but id rather get 2 pairs of shoes for $150...
Another great review. I am not a fan of all the different colors on this shoe or any other shoe for that matter. Well at least Sketchers is trying to get in the game. I personally have not and would not by a Sketchers product.
I think SKX has something to do with Skechers Performance. The new soccer cleats from Skechers have the SKX in their names too.
After signing Randle, Mann, and then Embiid, I'm surprised they didn't start with a signature shoe.
I think they both look great, I just can’t get over $150 price tag. I think $110 like somebody already said in the comment section would be nice.

I like the black ones enough to wear them if someone got them for me as a gift but not enough to pay $150 for em. I would wait until I could catch them on clearance.
The price part is interesting because it seems like they are going the Tesla route. Elon Musk said “Almost any new technology initially has high unit cost before it can be optimized and this is no less true for electric cars. The strategy of Tesla is to enter at the high end of the market, where customers are prepared to pay a premium, and then drive down market as fast as possible to higher unit volume and lower prices with each successive model.”
Although these might not bring anything “new” to the performance basketball industry, but it IS new for the brand. Curious to see how their succeeding models will look as far as tech and prices. Bit of a gamble though.

I’d buy these before buying anta. Good on them to get into more performance type shoes. Ofc that costs more. People paying over $200 with no issue. Their lifestyle shoes are very comfortable. It sounds like you have never worn their brand so you should try them out
You'd be making a mistake, I guarantee you Anta has at least 6 models better than these for cheaper

My only issue with them is the 150$ price tag. They still need to prove themselves as for 150 you have a lot of options of well established and tested models.

Any video explaining the difference between herringbone amd radial outsoles?
They’re both shapes. Radial is a circle traction while herringbone is a chevron. You can google search see.
@@WearTesters but what are the performance differences between them? I never saw anyone talking about these patterns in basketball outsoles, would love to see if there are any real differences. I do prefer the herringbone because I never noticed any benefits of the radial pattern, would like to see if it is something real or just a matter of preference
@@angelobartolomeu5679 It's something that Chris has talked about for 15 years here on RUclips. He talked about how and why they work in the performance reviews that feature the patterns. You'd have to go back and watch the reviews on the shoes that use each.

Honestly.... the price point actually made it seem like they really tried. Like they had the gumption to charge that so maybe its good.
1. Sketchers shoes aren't cheap.
2. They've had the goodyear licensing for their products. They got it for their hiking boots and non-slip "kitchen" shoes
They have the tech, they just need better designs. It's crazy they got some signature athletes without a previous shoe release.

They shoulda made a sub-brand (Ex. "Cool name" by Sketchers) so they can build it up and separate if the brand gets recognized...aside from ripping-off the looks which is already a big mistake with the amount of designers who can create aesthetically pleasing and original designs.
150.00, I'd buy well know brands already or get two pairs on clearance.
It's all about branding to make people buy.
I saw an Asian chick wearing the “Triple S Balenciaga” inspired Skechers and the looked so cute . I would say say Skechers is really tapping in to the sneaker culture .

Sketchers made some solid soccer cleats as well. Heard they hired old Nike employees
