    What was that sugar like powder that was put on the pork belly bun? Please tell me it wasnt actual sugar. Also how can that bun be so white??

    • @archiechang4112
      @archiechang4112 8 лет назад +1

      white sugar , then peanut powder.
      It might be Patent Flour to make the bun white .

    • @David_Kan
      @David_Kan 8 лет назад

      It's definitely not sugar since I've never heard of anyone eating it like that. Although I'm not quite sure what it is either.

    • @archiechang4112
      @archiechang4112 8 лет назад +6

      Traditionally we mix peanut powder and white sugar together , and using for mochi , ren bing ,a Taiwanese spring roll or koah-pau , the pork belly bun in the video ..
      But this time , they used crushed peanut , so sugar are used seprately.

    • @Corgyw

      Many street vendors slice the rice "sausage" length wise like a hotdog bun. When I first saw it I totally thought it was a sausage with a different colored sausage in it. I used to eat those a lot for lunch, I really miss them.

    do Chinese people drink milk? weird.

    • @TheGrmany69
      @TheGrmany69 7 лет назад

      because a lot of East Asian people are intolerant to lactose.

    • @sdqsdq6274
      @sdqsdq6274 7 лет назад

      what crap , intolerant to lactose is a medical condition

    • @TheGrmany69
      @TheGrmany69 7 лет назад

      Not really, it's a natural process of many animals, with time many animals reduce the production of enzymes that process the lactose, aside this the cow is an animal that produces to much lactose for a human being. I myself am intolerant to lactose, as you see is normal, not a medical condition because we didn't evolve drinking milk from other animals during our adulthood (only swedes are capable of that as I understand) . Although I've heard Chinese people saying that they are in deed intolerant to lactose.

    Chinese cooking uses pure fat, it tastes good but it is very unhealthy
    in Western cuisine, people use pure fat in other forms, aka butter
    in USA, there is a movement staying out of fatty content just because they eat too much

    • @die8430
      @die8430 8 лет назад +3

      funny but this is Taiwanese cooking, nothing gona to do with chinese...

    • @jiancongwang1268
      @jiancongwang1268 8 лет назад +2

      Butter is also fat as well, saturated fat, and in western cooking especially french cooking
      it is everywhere.
      To start with, the restaurant pretty much use half butter half vegetable oil in anything.
      Mash potato, chocolate, steak, any kind of rue based sauces including gravy, they are all
      butter filled. You don't see chinese cooking using fat that widely, at least they don't put
      an additional chunk of butter to finish their sauces or soup.

    • @2003feng
      @2003feng 8 лет назад

      yet we Taiwanese are still skinny

    • @dctrn65
      @dctrn65 8 лет назад

      you are skinny because Asian don't have that much to eat and genetic can play important role in body composition
      American are fat people 50% obese because they eat too much, fat or no fat and metabolism play important role
      some people don't eat much but they are fat

    • @2003feng
      @2003feng 8 лет назад

      I agree about that genetic is one of the factor...but "Asian don't have that much too eat" sounds strange. I stayed in USA and always stay around 70~75kg. After back to Taiwan, my weight became 85kg...I think it's lack of sports, and wrong choices for food are the main reasons.
