Someone on Reddit exploited the hostile dolls from Stardew to max out their combat skill in a single day. There's no limit to how many times you can have kids to turn into doves, so they had an absolute ton of kids, turned them all into doves, then killed the horde of angry dolls to hit level 10 combat.

Hey Gambado, not sure if you talked about this already but there is another easter egg in Splatoon that terrified me as a child (and still does tbh).
In the boss rooms, there is a small area before you actually fight the boss where there is no music, just silence.
But if you wait and listen closely enough, you can hear screams of absolute terror in the distance.
As a kid, I remember standing still before a boss fight because my sister was talking to me, when I suddenly heard those screams.
I got to scared that I actually had tears in my eyes and the fact that is was never really explained always left me with a sense of dread when I entered the boss rooms after that.

    • @OtakuUnitedStudio
      @OtakuUnitedStudio 3 месяца назад +31

I think the "screams" are actually supposed to be the metal walls of the underground domes that the Octarians live in creaking from being so old and worn out. It sounds more like being inside an old ship than human-ish screams to me.

      @DarkGekkouga 3 месяца назад +8

I've skipped the dlc packs but apparently it's addressed in Octo Expansion which takes place in a subway station, hence the screeching metal, while the screams were the sounds of Octolings getting labotomized by an evil robot in a phone using giant blender... yes that is actually a part of the DLC story.
That being said, you can still hear the sounds in the sewer map of Splatoon 3 so I guess its not full gone

    • @mouthwaterin

I still think hearing Haltmann's screams of pain in Kirby Planet Robobot is disturbing, you also won't experience this unless you play the True Arena. It's basically implied that he's being deleted by the machine Star Dream after he was taken over by it. There's also some text boxes on the pause screens that give a bit more info on what happened to him. Kind of a tragic character really.

Funniest thing about the PayDay 2 one is that it's technically canon to the actual lore of the game. Like by that point in the story those giants have been mentioned multiple times and are tied to the main story. 1. Pink Panther Passport to Peril. The last day in Camp ChillyWawa. There's a lot of creepy imagery, sounds, and damn, the MUSIC in particular is nightmare fuel straight out of Silent Hill.
    2. The Museum of Anything Goes. A very trippy game that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but gets suddenly dark when you accidentally make someone fall from the sky and have to host a funeral for them. Whatever you do, don't tap on their coffin or you'll be sorry.

The Formidable Oak and Plasm Wraith from Pikmin 3 is still probably the closest the series has gotten to being a horror game. The eerie music, lack of enemies and the ones that spawn are created by the wraith, and the logs of Olimar describing how every time he tries to escape it actives his spacesuits sleep mode. I remember being freaked out by the fight with Marx in Kirby Superstar Ultra for the DS. The way he sprouts bat wings and gets fangs was already unnerving, but when you defeat him his jaw unhinges, he's cut in half (no blood of course, but still), and it gives the most awful scream I had ever heard at the time.
Also, I'm not sure how creepy this one is since I think it's actually really cool, but I know you can encounter the headless horseman in Skyrim. He has a very specific route, but I imagine that I would be terrified if I encountered him randomly. The Fallout Series also has a TON of H.P. Lovecraft inspired easter eggs, although at this point they've weaved themselves into their own plotline.

I have a few scary things in non scary and or kid games
Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Swamp: Since it's Scooby doo it's kinda supposed to be "scary" a little, but it's for kids and these few things scared me when I was a kid.
1: Anytime "Lila's Theme" played, it plays whenever the character Lila is in the scene or mentioned most of the time, it makes me kind of scared but in a disturbed sad way??
2: El Scaryachi, the first boss of the game, mostly when he plays his creepy harmonica tunes and the creepy soundtrack that plays when you make your way up to the place that activated his chase sequence.
3: On the level where El Scaryachi is, there's the pinata enemies that grossed and creepy me out as a kid. They act like Minecraft creepers in the sense of don't go near them too long or they blow up, but they just make weird ass noises and start vibrating before they blow up. I remember avoiding going near them whenever they were nearby they just freaked me out.
4: The Giant Yeti boss bigfoot like sightings you get in the snow area, you get glimpses of its shadow in the blizzard before going out of sight. Also just seeing remnants of its presence (the footprints at the lodge and broken gates) is creepy.
The Simpsons Game: Not at all a scary game but some points creeped child me out.
1: The video game slaves, seeing Mario and Sonic (Sonic especially stuck with me) being forced to work gave me the creeps. It somehow gave kid me the same vibes of the cyborg Mickey mouse characters from Epic Mickey for some reason? Looking at the gameplay of the Simpsons Game idk why kid me thought that.
2: Sherri and Terri The Shining Easter Egg(?): I cannot find any clips of this but I remember in the vide game level where you play multiple video game parodies, if you go to one of the golden elevator doors it opens up to show the twins Sherri and Terri. I believe it does this exclusively to Lisa cuz I remember both saying "Come play with us Lisa" both me and my younger sister were kinda freaked out at that.
UPDATE ON SHINING EASTER EGG: with some help I found the Easter egg does exist and is listed on the wiki. I am just baffled I haven't seen it on video before

Splatoon ghost face being created through a lighting glitch is actually genius. Any texture file is going to probably go through review these days to avoid whoopsies legal problems. Or it gets datamined on day one. There’s probably career penalties for having undocumented things these days.
But a lighting glitch is amazing plausible deniability and you can’t just datahoor that out. Datamining has ruined so much. I’m glad something happened to have a similar effect in an undetectable way.

He's a generic unnamed warrior. The Krypt mode in MK11 takes place in the dessicated ruins of Shang-Tsung's island. Over the years, the various baddies that resided there collected keepsakes of various characters, one of them being Kenshi, a blind swordsman that uses psychic powers bestowed by his ancestral blade.

The "Goblin dude" from MK9 is actually a Goblin gal. if you look at the bottom of the picture, you can see the base of breasts. This is because they edited Melina's model to make this thing (presumably because she already had a monstrous appearance).

Got a handful for you! A quick one would be the final boss of Viewpoint, a neogeo arcade shoot'em'up where you're blasting various alien robots, until the end.
Another is the version exclusive level in Earthworm Jim, an unapologetically juvenile platformer probably most known for its snes speedruns, but the genesis (& CD) had an extra level called 'intestinal distress', lets just say the music and sound effects match the artwork for this one.
A time sink one would be the hidden bosses in LiveALive, a rare anthology rpg about various people around the world saving their towns from evil, near the end of the game there's roughly a dozen secret bosses littering the land, thing is two of them aren't ones you find but rather hunt you down for trying to escape.
Another time consuming one is from Epic Battle Fantasy 5, a classical exploration rpg with a ragtag crew getting into things way over their heads, there's a few unsettling moments in this one one but I'm going to pick the 'temple of trials', the area is a gauntlet of fighting twisted doppelgangers which break the rules of combat.
A fairly obvious one would be 'the ruined future' from BioShock Infinite, an alternate history fps about dealing with unforeseen consequences, late in the game you get sent into the future where you failed to save the day and get to witness some of the dystopian world first hand.
Lastly I'll add 'the end' from Antichamber, an abstract puzzler like Portal but with a more philosophical tone and minimalist artstyle, you spend the entire game alone with only disconnected ambiance, but realizing you're not alone isn't what's weird, it's the change of scenery.

Hey I got a cool suggestion for the next video, so there’s this creepy ass level in one of my favorite video games or used to be one of my favorites in this game called Pixel Gun 3d and it’s called the School and there’s several ares that are terrifying and scared me as a kid, one of one room where everything is bloody and upside down and you can hear children laughing and there’s another room that’s giant with upside down dead kids hanging from cages with was scary to me when I was little This game is a mobile game btw so idk if this counts. It’s a multiplayer shooter Minecraft style game. Only hardcore pg3d fans know about this campaign level. It’s in world 1 and it’s the last level. Hope this entry gets in the next video!!

In Splatoon 3, there's actually a few new horrific easter eggs in the maps, but here's the most notable:
    - When "1 Minute Left!" appears in a Splatfest Battle at night in U'Mami Ruins, a statue on the Alpha Team's side becomes possessed with green light (a reference to a few ACNH items, and those are scary enough on their own) and floats around for a few seconds. It's very subtle, but it still makes my skin crawl.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, watching a TV broadcast at 3:33 AM on a Saturday displays an alien broadcast with a mostly unintelligible language. It begins with what sounds with "Greetings" and in the middle says "Stop Trying to Resist". Furthermore, there is a recipe for a D.I.Y. UFO you can obtain from Celeste (she comes during star showers), which is a reference to the Wild World UFOs, but when you walk up to it, an alien identical to the one on the broadcast shoots out of it before ascending back inside. It's strange and uncomfortable for a game like ACNH. But the Tarantulas and Scorpions are scary enough on their own for a 7+ game...

Another easter egg in Outlaws, though not necessarily creepy, is you can find Max from the Sam and Max series inside a hidden room in a cliffside, where he's wearing a cowboy hat and shooting at you if I remember right. Personally, when I first discovered it as a kid I found it pretty unnerving as I had never heard of the Sam and Max games prior to playing Outlaws so suddenly seeing a cartoon rabbit shooting me in a game with otherwise somewhat realistic-looking enemies definitely caught me off guard. I think this easter egg is in one of the levels from the Handful of Missions expansion, but I might be misremembering.

Here are mines. Hopefully they will make it into a future video:
    -Finding Nemo PC Game.
As a kid back when Finding Nemo was a thing, there was a PC game to tie in with the movie. I ended up having it and I was more of a scaredy cat back then,so I always get my cousin with me to play it because I felt safer. You had two directions, one being Marlin's side and the other being Nemo's. So what scared me was those giant rock statues with their face on them, staring directly at you in the front. And just there in the water in the aquarium is just.. Unsettling. I don't know if this is just me. One minigame that I remember during this was the one where you have to put the pebbles onto that huge thing and you have to guide Nemo through before he gets turn into shred. I think this is after you collect the ''totems'',which are earned after talking with the other fishes in the aquarium after talking to Gill. If you choose Marlin's side, you'll get that scene where Nemo gets kidnapped by the scuba divers. Yes,the game gives you clips from the movie, and that one scene in general traumatized me for years and it still do. The fact you get jumpscared in front of you real close by the scuba diver that kidnaps Nemo and the music that plays during this calls in for a panic. The mask slowly falling down into the water makes it worst if you're scared of the ocean. The music that plays when Marlin and Dory meets the sharks is unsettling too,and it does not help when Bruce chases you afterwards.
-The Jumpstart PC Game Haunted Island
This was like one of those pre-school PC games from back in late 90's to early 2000's. The Halloween version of Jumpstart was that the school was some kind of a haunted house and the teacher was a witch, who kidnaps and transform kids into monsters, and it's up to the player to find them while solving problems within minigames. You are guided by a bat named Flap. This was traumatizing. Ms. Grunkle is sometimes referred to as "Mrs. Grunkle" in brief portions of the game and in promotional material, prompting some to speculate if she had a husband and what might've become of him. In her living room is a skeleton who sits around watching the television while holding a remote, which some fans have speculated may have been her husband at one point. It was later replaced by JumpStart Adventures 4th Grade: Sapphire Falls in 1999,due to it getting negative reviews about it being too dark and scary for kids.
-The Dog Island game from Playstation 2
This is a game (Which is also made in Japan) where you play as a dog,who lives with his or her (depending on the gender you choose) mother Mar and his or her sibling Emilio/Maria (again depending on the gender you choose) in Puroro Town. Your sibling is sick with a disease that makes them unable to play outside and the father named Doluk had already traveled in search of a cure, but he never came back home. The player then decided to take matters in their own hands (or paws if you say because get it,it's a dog) by sailing with a crew to The Dog island to meet with doctor Potan. The ship is caught in a storm and you ends up separated from the others. The player is rescued by a resident named Amelia. There was a part in the game where you're out in the nature at night and that's when things gets creepy. Hidden deep inside the Kunka Ruins is the Ancient Monster that you will have to defeat in order to save the world. It takes the form of a T-Rex skeleton, and is angry about being sealed away, presumably by your father. I don't remember much because of trauma, but yeah..
    -Pokemon XY
I found something in the Pokemon XY game, and it's that one part where you have to enter a very strange house, and there was thing old guy telling a creepy story about some kind of ghost or a monster with many hands and watching the player.

I said this on the last video, but I’ll say it again just in case someone else shares in my experience-
Back when I was first getting into gaming I got 2 games for the Wii, “Scooby-Doo First Frights” and “Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Swamp”. First Frights had sectioned level areas and wider enemy variety. Some highlights that freaked me out as a kid were: the headless guy from the first area, the clowns from the second area, the sewer dolls from the second area (specifically when they made this really creepy groaning noise as they approached), the green tank robots from the second area that showed up in a very freaky level atmosphere imo (insane factory that had children’s aesthetics all over the place?), the giant divers from the third area (and subsequently the entire ghost ship segment), the lobster boss from the third area, and the entire final area and the reveal at the end that it was a real monster the whole time.
In Spooky Swamp the enemies weren’t that scary but the game itself was. Instead of sectioned levels, it was basically open world, but there were NO NPCs besides the plot necessary ones, so any building you went into was empty and almost always silent. Partnered with the fact there was a ghost mechanic, and the ghosts would show up in the empty buildings, it unnerved little kid me quite a lot, looking back on it now, both games have areas that are old and empty that feel so liminal. I vividly remember the abandoned ski shop building in the snowy area of Spooky Swamp, and how it had only a few spiders, a ghost, and silence. Even though you had a COM second player (or a sibling or friend if you were lucky) you still felt so alone.

If I remember properly the MK9 jumpscare was telegraphed by running footstep sound effects. I was 11 was MK9 was new and heard about the jumpscare from a RUclips video about it. Was too scared to ever use the krypt because of it but my brother didn’t care even when I warned him. Vividly remember him going into the crypt, we heard the footsteps and INSTANTLY flinched before shutting the game off. Reacted so fast we shut the game off before the scream.

So I don't know how, but I found your channel and sort of binged all of you're videos on this area. I have been trying to think of anything that I know that would fit the theme. I got a few but they are all sort of a stretch.
Vampire: The Masquerade. this is based off of a dnd style game but turned into a video game. most of it is living the fantasy of being a super cool vampire (you can even go into clubs and dance and everyone will sort of get around you to dance too because you're soo cool). Anyway one of the first big missions you get is sort of spooky. Where you need to get a locket from an abandon house. turns out it's haunted and some thing will just toss random stuff at you. doors will open and close, a toy bike will just roll out in front of you and stuff. The big part is there are notes about the house and the murders. at one point you need to go into the laundry room and there is a note that said "in the investigation the police found a victims head in the dryer" and you can search the dryer in the game. there isn't a head but a key that you need to get through the house. searching that dryer was super hard for me as I was spooked at this point.
keeping with vampires. in the game Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver you are a vampire that was killed and resurrected as a wrath. time has moved very far into the future and the world is over ran with vampires. many that have been a vampire for so long that they are more like monster than human. some have long tubs that will latch onto people to suck their blood. others their face will split open to reveal a second mouth. but what got me was in the spectral realm. where were these monsters named Sluagh. They had thin arms a face full of teeth and they feed on lost souls. it was said that the souls eaten by Sluagh are lost forever. could you imagine dying and becoming a soul and before you fully got an idea of what had happen or even gotten over your own death to look around and you're completely surrounded by these things.
I generally have a fear of some big fish coming to eat me, and I know I got this from games as it's in so many games. Some that I can recall is in Rune Viking Warlord, Mario 3, Subnautica, Commander Keen 4, Ratchet and Clank 1, Jak and Daxter, and Earth Worm Jim. I don't recall much about Rune. when I rented it I got to a part with a big fish and I just stopped playing. Commander Keen 4 although is silly, but at the time I was very young and that big fish really scared me and the one in Earth Worm Jim would bite Jim in half. instant kill.
In Time Splitters 3 there is a haunted house level that is creepy but the one part that made me close the game for a bit was the skinned cows in the freezer that would come alive and attack you. They would moo at you, but they don't even have a head.
Final Fantasy 7 is rated teen, but there are parts that were pretty spooky for their time. the Shinra building getting attacked and seeing the blood trails all over the place and the odd new monsters in the battles. then there is the Gi tomb. rivers of blood and spike traps and the wall with a face that would come alive and turned into a human face. spooky stuff. There might be a lot more in the game but they might have been too hidden for me.
Last part I wanted to talk about was the ending to Doom 1 where it shows some bunnies around a closed hell portal but one got hit with a spike the shot out of the ground and impaled it. that dead bunny scared me good.
I know Doom, Soul Reaver, Vampire: The Masquerade, Subnautica, are not family friendly games but these still got me.

The voice that shouts "get out!" in Donkey Kong 64 belongs to an enemy named Krosshair who is apparently a robot holding a cannon and flying with the help of a propeller. There is a certain picture likely depicting Krosshair. And apparently he also appears in a certain level in Donkey Kong Country 3 where he constantly shoots but isn't seen either.
