Hey thanks Eric for the feature in your video. I really appreciate your kind words about my content and for the link in the description. ☺ I try to look at things in a positive light as I know all too well how quickly things can snowball when I am in negative frame of mind. I also feel that same unease when filming my vlogs and having interactions with people, I usually put the camera down or out of the way. Thanks again for this video and for the honesty! 🙏
No problem, as a 中国通 I enjoyed watching your experiences a lot because of your genuine ways of experiencing the place and kind interactions with people. You don’t seem to be creating your content for attention but to actually have real experiences and share them. Keep up the Chinese studies, you’ll pick it up in not time 😂
You come in with agenda. Everything setup from beginning. I stayed at this hotel a few months ago, always having two bottles of water in the room. Is it necessary out at midnight hunting for 7/11? At 1 o'clock after midnight, any West countries still having vibrant life? 脑残😅
i guarantee that Australian guy will get more hits for saying how bad his experience is in China, because that's what a lot of china hater will search for....as oppose to the positive guy in the end
Batteries and drones in checked luggage are a big no-no. Once, my friend packed batteries in his luggage, only to discover a notice had been placed inside his luggage at the hotel stating that the batteries had been removed. He was told to contact the airport to retrieve his items, which turned into a painful process. It's crucial for everyone to know that batteries are prohibited in checked luggage.
@@williamho1976 Australians are among the most-friendliest people and we don’t talk shit about others, except for those who are of the same kind as that guy. More Australians are travelling to China, number of flights to China has increased by over 220% and Australians ranked top 5 in inbound tourists to China this year. We are fond of our Chinese friends and are happy that Australia are deepening our trade ties to China.
@@williamho1976China unsafe? You kidding right. I’ve been to Sydney twice and I found it really rough, dirty and unsafe compared to China. Some people were really rude and unfriendly despite people telling me ALL Australians are very friendly. Like this guy did not come as a friendly and nice person. He was the type that I came across when I was in Sydney.
He shouldn't go to hot places, it will get him easily frustrated. 😂 Travelling doesn't work with hot heads, there are always bumpy rides here and there. If he can't handle it join a tour from the travel agency.
I watched this guy's video (what a waste of my time!) and it was obvious to me that he was making this video to make China look very bad. I found his video extremely poor. I've been to China more times than him and love every moment of it. He wasn't there to really enjoy himself. He was just there mainly focusing everything negative rather than anything positive about China. Of course there are good and bad things in any place you visit but my impression of him was extremely bad. He portrays his character as someone very impolite, arrogant, impatient and probably not really well educated and a bit racist. That’s my first impressions of him when watching his crap vlog. I won’t be watching any more of his crap videos and won’t recommend anyone to watch them as it will give people the wrong impressions of the places he visits!
So glad I found your videos. I've been binging these gd awful travel bloggers just bc I wanted to get a feel for China since I'd like to teach there or in HK. Your advice is really useful and your presentation of these skin crawling cretins is really entertaining. About to go binge the rest of your content now. Also just to let you know, I got this in my suggestions, so maybe the algo likes you. Even just your tip about arriving in the day vs at night is so obvious, but easily missed. Really good stuff.
glad it was useful... no need to binge my videos though hahah, most of my content isn't like this at all. Though I'm sure you can still get some decent info out of it just in general terms of life in China. Good luck on the job search. I'll probably put up some videos about my time working in China soon, maybe it will help too.
I can easily make up a similar "traveling vlog" in any country I have visited. I don't blame him if he is a nonfrequent traveler. Man, this vlogger's whole channel is about travel, and obviously, he has been to a lot of countries. no wonder so many speculations in the comment, or he's just biased.
The odd thing is he able to fly out of China in very short time as planned, very different to most traveler even stay for lease 144 hours as the shortest.
Ain't no way this dude came without checking anything, he's clearly trying to get a share of that juicy 1.6B 😂😂😂 Even travelling thru Europe (which is considered "easy") you would still need to check out for places to know which ones to avoid for scams and safety. I mean, no way he as an australian left China without tasting a "succulent chinese meal". 🤣🤣 Peak comedy, but not gonna lie, second hand embarrassment hit hard with this one.
He must have gone through customs when making transit at Guangzhou, then needed pickup checked luggage. It seems he forgot pickup luggage, but he didn't admit his fault at 1st place. Normally carry bag need check for items prohibited not checked bag. I remember everytime I was back to Canada or US, I need go through customs at transit stop (1st city I entered), then pickup luggage, rechecked again. The hotel he stayed at Yunnan road, only 1 block away to 淮海 Huaihai road/Xizang 西藏路, 15 minutes walk to people square, 5 minutes further to Nanjing road (heart of Shanghai). He deliberately didn't show the scene, just complain all the way along about camera and social credit fart, with all fault in his head despite people trying to help him.
Lesson, don't ever speak so loudly in another language that the local don't understand. Some language may come out sound offensive in their local language. If do need to speak loudly, speak with a smile or in a calmer tone, so people don't think you are cursing at them. 😂 Is funny the lady do understand the curse words in English but don't really understand English, this might have get him in trouble if there are few guys around.
Eric, you should make China food vlogs, show people where to find good Chinese food, else odds are they will eat the terrible Chinese food sold at tourist traps
I’ve talked about what and how to find good eats before… maybe I’ll try again when back in China. I just don’t like filming in restaurants and bothering those around me much
The odd thing is he able to fly out of China in very short time as planned, very different to most traveler even stay for lease 144 hours as the shortest.
It seems there are mostly only 2 types of videos about China on YT. It is either "China is so shit" or “China is so great", while the truth is, it can be both. It seems to be feeding to the algorythm though. You have People that are clearly lying when they make videos about China and how its so great while staying in a 2km radius around their hotel in the downtown of a Tier1 city and only go to the most popular tourist places and overpriced restaurants for tourists. And then you have guys like that that already arrive with a preconceived image of China. It is clear just by those snippets I can see here, that he does not have any patience. As you said, Eric, everyone tries to help him and he seems to scoff about everyone without even being prepared.
There is a chance that he put the batteries in his luggage an purpose to cause drama as content. A lot of youtubers do things like this, especially the anti-CN ones, that they act stupid and get into trouble to make it their big headline, how they have become a "victim of authoritarianism". Like there are a lot of youtubers who sneak into restricted areas, even military bases, and then rant about how the police detained them. In reality they knew and wanted it to happen this way.
I had the same problem to purchase a sim card in Shanghai when my overseas sim card stopped working. It took me ages to find a retail place to sell a sim card, but eventually, the sim card I purchased didh't work. I also got so pissed that Chinese has blocked the entire Internet. I can relate his experience in China. China is not the most convenient place to travel compared to Europe countries and southeast Asia, or you would already see more people from the west travel to China. I am sure many westerners who love an adventure would definitely find travelling in China rewarding, but not for people who don't like any challenges.
I agree it's annoying to get a sim card in town that's why I said make sure your Sim card is sorted out at the airport. Of course your situation with it breaking is different. The entire internet isn't blocked though lol, plenty of Chinese apps you can use and they aren't hard. Many even have English. Just need minor preparation.
@@UuioGHui676 China has blocked most of the VPN. I have tried nordVPN, surfshark, expressVPN last year and this year when I was there. None of them worked.
@@Eric_Garrison I understand many things would work in China with a little patience, but not everyone has patience. I don’t hate China but not particularly like China either. I can see both of the good sides and the bad sides. It can be rather frustrating with language and Internet situation for foreigners visitors. I don’t think the Chinese government is just starting to fix these issues but not fully committed, or could be never committed if they don’t see this as issues.
You can't really blame him he's just an idiot who has been heavily influenced by anti chinese propaganda in Australia. My parents recently came to China, which they almost certainly wouldn't have if I wasn't living here and they previously had a fairly negative view of China. The trip totally changed their opinion of China along with all their friends and family who saw their social media posts back in the UK. Obviously negative videos like this aren't good but although most of the travel bloggers visit the same places and do the same things they are mostly positive and people seeing these videos is the best antidote to all the anti China propaganda in the west.

He came with a mission, and when he was done, he left quickly. He is shameful.
Once someone like him is BIASED, he will see everything in a NEGATIVE way. And the more negative and agitated he gets, the MORE things will go WRONG.
yea if he took like 2 deep breaths at any point in the video his whole situation and trip would have improved

of course, unfortunate but true.
Yeah you right. Everyday, people hate on China. I have to ask to most of them. What has a Chinese person ever done to you???

Batteries can be put in hand luggage but can not be used during the flight...
