It's funny that during the making of, no one mentioned that Flake wasn't even on the film set.
Flake was sick and was being doubled by his brother.

The thing with Flake has become a running joke I think. I figured it always stemmed from him never "officially" agreeing to join the band. He always said no, then he just turned up to practice out the blue and he stuck around. So he is like the outcast who gets treated different

And it is also the one who has to die, be ignored, wear the daring mask 😂. I think it is part of his character in the band but live he is completely essential and he is one of those who participates the most in the crazy things of Till and musically I think it is essential in the characteristic sound of Rammstein, I also think that he is a kind of anchor that it prevents them from forgetting their roots. 💕🔥🔥

@@elide_mc_fly9601 Flake is the outstanding one in the group because he looks different and he is different and he likes it.
He sees himself as a Punk among "evil" and "hard" man.
He is doing his own special thing, he wrote two books (so far) wich are super interesting to read...(1st book: about his childhood and youth in Berlin, east Germany; 2nd book: about Rammstein....from their early days to now).
And: Flake is doing radio in Germany.
Flake has a weekly podcast with RadioEins live...where he is talking about one specific theme for two hours and he chooses the music...wich always fits perfect with the theme.....by himself.
2 or 3 weeks ago he did the radio together with his (I think the eldest) daughter.
It was sooo interesting and funny to listen because his daughter prefers HipHop...XD

12:58 It's indeed a real building. :) That high-rise is called The Pyramid ("Die Pyramide" in German) because of its pyramid-shaped enclosed glass atrium. Built in the mid-1990s and considered Europe's largest clock (cf. Wikipedia description), it's one of the more prominent among the tallest buildings in the outlying eastern parts of Berlin.

I guess they went with the dark US firefighter outfits just for aesthetic. The berlin firefighter uniform I think is like the UK, it's a tan colour. There is other colours though. Probably didn't look very "metal" or too bright, as the video is dull, so went with the black

Coolcoolcool. Always nice to learn somthing new, like CG animations!
I guess it was the director choosing the helmets - maybe to make them more recognizable? Maybe the ones Schneider would've prefered were more old fashion looking? Not sure.
Paul keep giving us glimpses of what it was like in East Germany, and it's insane! A ten year old all alone with the military, being told that standing on a brick wall in the city, ready to shoot people trying to escape the country - is the same as being a hunter out in the wild?? Propoganda at it's finest.
And regarding Flake - I'm not sure if he's left out by his own choice, I think it sometimes has to do with directors playing on the view of Flake being te odd one out in the group. In Keine Lust he seemed to me genuinly dissapointed he didn't get to wear a fat suit :P I also think I heard somewhere that he was busy while filming this, but I have no idea if there's any truth to that.
As for theories of it's meaning! I just googled some theories, and most seem to point towards criticism of (wait for it) America. As it was written at the time as Amerika it makes sense, though I've mostly thought about it either in a literal sense (they love pyro) or as a more general "hunger" for oil and power in the world.
Here's a pretty harsh theory about it being about America: www.lyricinterpretations.com/rammstein/benzin - look for the long comment #2, it's an interesting read.
And here's someone's three ways of interpreting it:
    Kamil Kwiatkowski:

All of them were able to escape military service except Schneider, but Schneider never really talks about his time in the east german army. I wonder how that was for him....
