It’s so nice to watch you paint again, Lorrie! I’ve been doing so many different kinds of AI art the last year or so. Now I’m super inspired by you to get back to some lovely wispy paintings. Thanks for sharing!
It’s so pretty and delicate, I can imagine so many different colour combinations that could be used. Awesome idea and of cause you always make it look so easy😍
Thanks so much 😊! I had picked out 3 different color combinations before I managed to settle on the one I used lol. That’s one of my biggest problems when I’m getting ready to paint anything. It takes me an hour to decide on colors 😂
Beautiful. Will need to try this on a vase and yupo paper. Have you ever tried using brushes and alcohol ink on yupo paper.? Watched a video on abstract flowers using brushes on yupo paper. Very interesting.
I haven’t tried it with brushes, but I have watched a few videos on it. Alcohol ink paintings like that are definitely beautiful. They look very much like watercolors to me. One of these days maybe I’ll get around to trying that. 😊
Thank you! The Dollar Tree and thrift stores are my go to places for inexpensive things to paint on lol. It’s amazing what you can do with a little bit of art and craft supplies to a $1 or $2 item!
You are most welcome. I am so pleased that I subbed to your channel. I have white tiles that I would like to try this with and I am not sure how to seal it or what sealer I should use. Can you recommend something that I can use to seal the tiles ?@@LorrieBrewer
You should always seal your ink with Kamar varnish by Krylon, or some other water based varnish first. Many of the sealants will reactivate your inks and they will spread and fade out some. Kamar is the best I’ve found so far. Once you have a few coats of that on, you can either resin the tiles or spray on a few coats of a UV protection spray like UV Archival by Krylon. It kind of depends on what you plan to do with the tiles. They will have more protection from damage with the resin, but if they are getting hung up or placed in a stand then the 2 Krylon sprays should be fine. Resin really looks good on them though.
I plan to hang the tiles on a hanger in my bathroom. So I think the Kamar varnish will work then the resin. Is that how I should do it ? @@LorrieBrewer
That works well, Lorrie! Tricky surface, blower and gravity to help the flow and design. How would you fix it, same as your normal method - and then one wonders if it remains washable😂. Just a thought, I wonder if you could wedge a roll of paper in the top to act as a handle?
What I wish I had for this is one of those things people put on cup turners, the short pole with foam or something similar at the end to hold a cup in place. That would have worked great. Although your idea would have worked if I had thought of it lol. I will seal this one like I do everything else, with Kamar and UV Archival. If I had a cup turner I would probably resin it after that so it would be at least hand washable. Maybe this is a good excuse to go ahead and buy one lol.
Hi Lorrie just wondering if you would have to seal the vase and if you do what would you seal it with so it doesn't interfere with the inks. Thank you love the vase.
Yes, it will have to be sealed. I will put a few light coats of Kamar varnish by Krylon on it first, the a few coats of UV Archival by Krylon. The Kamar seals without reactivating the inks since it’s water based. I would like to put resin on it after sealing with the Kamar, but I don’t have a cup turner or any resin at the moment lol.
WOW! Lovely...want to give it a try! Hey question...the one vase in the link has twine wrapped around it...did you try that one and were you able to remove the twine without damaging the vase surface?
Thank you! I was able to easily take the twine off. It was just tucked under and had just a tiny bit of some sort of glue holding it. It didn't damage it at all and it was very easy to put back on again.
I let it sit for a few days, then spray on a few coats of Kamar varnish by Krylon. After that I spray on a few coats of UV Archival by Krylon. The first helps set the ink and the second gives it some uv protection since there is none in alcohol inks.
You always need to seal your alcohol ink work no matter what it’s on. It can be scratched and it’s not UV resistant. I use a few coats of Kamar varnish by Krylon on all my ink work to seal, then a few coats of UV Archival by Krylon. You can also resin your ink projects once they’ve been sealed with a few coats of the Kamar varnish, but I still do the UV Archival, too, before I resin. Hope this helps!

That turned out so beautiful!
This is really beautiful!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets frustrated!
This is gorgeous Lorrie! Love it ❤️
Thank you so much! I was thrilled to finally manage to do one with this style lol
Turned out beautiful. ❤❤
Thank you so much! 😊
Just beautiful. Can't wait to try this. Thank you!!!😍
I think this vase is absolutely gorgeous!! Can't wait to see you do another.
Thank you! I’ve got 2 more waiting for another time 😊
Beautiful!
Thank you very much!

Absolutely, gorgeous! I’m going to check the Dollar Tree stores and the 99 Cents stores near me. ❤️

Good idea!
Is this a special paint? And alcohol?
I always wanted to try the alcohol inks and now.....I have a reason to. You did great. Thank you.
Thank you very much! Hearing that someone was inspired by something I did is one of the best comments I can get! 😊

That is probably what I would do, especially in a high humidity spot like a bathroom. The resin will hold up better in there.
Nice
Absolutely amazing! Did you need to seal or treat the surface either before or after? You inspire with every video!
Hope you and your family are doing well…Blessings
We are doing very well, thank you! I hope the same for you and yours 😊. I’m happy to see your name still showing up here!

Have you seen any videos on cup turning? It is definitely faster but lesss control.
I have watched quite a few and love some of what I’ve seen. I just need to get a turner lol.

Do you use something as a top coat or sealer on this?

Thank you 🙏🏻. Love your work and your videos.
Thank you very much!
Wow, 15 seconds after posting.
Lol You were probably the very first one to see it!
