    Hockey Canada's philosophy isn't about chemistry or anything they like to take 19 year olds to a under 20 tournament. It's always been that way, it's nothing new. it takes very special players to get before their draft. That's why Gavin Mckenna is so rare. You can count on 1 hand the number of Draft minus 1 players that have been on Team Canada. Even Draft year like Misa are pretty rare...... Anyone who pays any attention to Junior hockey knew that last year was a big down year, it was the class that lost their Rookie CHL season to Covid. Massive setback in player development.

    It’s weird cause it it’s not like they didn’t take any young studs. They took a couple but left a couple off. Then left some of the older guys off. It’s weird. You’d think they wanted to go old but still cut some of the better older guys

    Canada always roots so hard against the US when no-one outside of a few states and cities follows this tournament. I remember always talking with Canadian fans when Buffalo has hosted it. It's like you guys have 12 mil people in the Toronto area. Buffalo has 1 mil in the entire surroundings and we are not getting people flying in from California the way Canadians travel the world for this. I grew up watching this and love the recent success the US has had compared to the past. US winning this a few times in the past decade and a half has been my championship since I am a Sabres fan.

    Do you think that one of the differences between teams over that last 10 years and teams of the 90’s and early 2000’s is that today’s players are less willing to accept non prominent roles like they used to? So now they have to take more role players instead of best available to not have to deal with the egos?

  • @holofech9744

    16.6% is 1 out of every 6 goals. When you consider an average game is around 6ish goals, that doesnt really seem all too impressive. At least compare it to some average players to see if that shows any difference

    • @RobTalksHockey
      @RobTalksHockey  15 часов назад +2

      6 goals including both teams. The team Average is 3.03 goals

  • @tmlms1313
    @tmlms1313 15 часов назад

    Game Winning Goals is a terrible stat to use to prove anything. Do you even know how it works? Lets say a player scores the goal to make it 5-0, then his team falls apart and only wins 5-4. The guy who scored the 5-0 goal gets the GWG, real clutch lol. Might have been a 4th liner because the coach was resting his stars.
    Another scenario. Player scores a goal to break a 1-1 tie with 2 minutes left in the game, huge clutch goal. Other team pulls their goalie and someone adds the empty netter. The losing team still pulls their goalie and gets one back making a 3-2 final. Who gets the GWG? The guy who scored the empty netter.
    2023-24, Matthews had 6 hat tricks. and 10 2-goal games....... You can't score more than 1 GWG per game is that his fault? He finished the year with 8 GWG, tied for 11th in the NHL...... Even if he scored 69 goals in 69 different games the Leafs aren't going to win 69 games. The more you goals you score the less likely you are to get a GWG. Your percentage goes down. It's a completely flawed stat.

    • @Sid-gu5qk
      @Sid-gu5qk 14 часов назад

      Wrong, it's the same reason no Russian team in any sport is allowed in any tournament, including the Olympics. It's because cheating is so culturally acceptable to them that no matter how many times they were penalized for it they can't stop themselves from trying to get away with cheating over and over again. Cheating and lacking respect for fair play and their fellow athletes is why they don't deserve to participate.
