I actually think every time I’ve had that crazy instant connection or passion it ends up being toxic and fizzling out because it’s so intense at the beginning. My best relationships and husband to be was one where I felt so comfortable I couldn’t explain it and thought ok I’ll go on another. 3 years later I didn’t even think men like him existed. He’s everything I wanted! 🥰

I thought the same myself and the same happens to me as well. The best relationships like you said tend to grow with time and the being comfortable part.

100% agree! Instant chemistry never led to healthy relationships for me. My now-husband was definitely NOT instant chemistry-our chemistry grew over time (a few months) and I actually wasn't sure about him in the beginning at all, but I felt comfortable being myself with him and he was emotionally intelligent. Now 6 years in, he is absolutely the love of my life, and I'm so glad that I gave it a chance beyond that initial chemistry phase because BELIEVE ME, it is there now and still going strong. 🔥🔥🔥

It was the same for me too. I met my husband and felt like I had known him forever. Sure there was attraction, but it wasn’t a giant spark, more of a slow burning flame. We’ve been together for nearly 26 years and married for 12. I couldn’t imagine my life without him.

As a woman of 51yrs old. I can look back on the last 30yrs and now think 'thank God I am not married or have children' . I did feel a void and a sense of grieving a dream that didn't become a reality. But looking back the couples are either not happy, resentful of their spouse, cheating or getting divorced.
I can honestly say I'm happier in my late 40's -50. I don't need or want attention, I love hanging out with my friends , I love having time for people and I love having freedom and the choice to do what I want.
If I met someone in the future and we were on the same course in life then I would have to think long and hard about the relationship. I think it's important to know that one relationship will not meet all our needs.
Amelia, carry on being the wonderful woman you are and whether you choose to have a partner or not you will still have a wonderful purpose ❤❤❤❤

What a load of rubbish. There are plenty of people happily married and now with grandchildren who fill their lives with a sense of achievement and adventure. Growing old lonely and without kids to protect and care for you is bloody miserable!

@@Cassieskins21 how can it be a load of rubbish when it's from lived experience of the couples I have known for between 20-30 years.
Please let people express their opinions.
On top of the growing old lonely that is such a miss conception of single older people.
Some people with children don't even visit their parent's.
Fact - I have heard from nursing home mangers ( where my mum was before she passed away) some son's and daughters wouldn't even visit their parents. That's awful.
      So whose talking rubbish 😁

I lived in a neighborhood that used to have a lot of seniors and yes, a couple of them did have their children and grand children visit but a majority of them didn't...it was sad. My 33rd birthday ended with me in tears. I was so over being single and I really thought I’d be alone forever. That year I met my person, my best friend, the person I prayed for when I felt hopeless. Being single taught me to wait for THE GUY. Wouldn’t trade all the bad dates for anything because our timing needed to work. I divorced 4 years prior and he was recently divorced when we met. Got engaged after 3 years and we still have the best chemistry and just genuinely love being around each other. 😂❤

I met my now partner at 34, and we are getting married next month (and we’re having a baby early next year!). I had to get over the timeline, and I’m so happy I did. Hi Amelia! Thank you for sharing this with us. Would like to disagree with you about the instant connection with somebody. I met my husband in my early thirties. We didn't really liked each other on the first date, but there was a second date, and a 3rd one. And then we went together on vacation. There we realised how comfortable we feel in each other's company. Long story short, 9 years later, we have 2 kids and a stable, adult, respectful, loving marriage.

RE: egg freezing- I have had quite a few very close friends freeze their eggs, and seeing their experience and hear them talk about the process in depth, I would SO SO encourage anyone who is thinking about doing it to do so. The sense of calm these friends have described, the peace of mind that it has given them, the pressure it has taken off of them for dating, and so much more...highly recommend. And for anyone U.S.-based who sees this- check with your insurance!- it is sometimes covered or partially covered by insurance. It is a pricey endeavor for sure, so look into those opportunities to lighten the financial burden!

Hi Amelia! I know some comments differ in my pov, but I totally agree with that instant connection you feel with a person. When I met my now husband, there was this natural gravitation to each other and a spark that felt different. We got married after 1 yr & 1/2 of dating and we’ve been together for over 5 years now. I think the key is to observe the person on each date and check in with yourself on how you feel and if there’s reciprocation on both sides.

I heard from a professor in psychology instant connection and passion is very different from the love you develop needed for a long term relationship. Also passion doesn’t necessarily turn into long term love . The transition is not straight forward. That’s why lots of relationships fail, some because they must and some because of wrong expectations. For long term relationship you don’t need the spark at the beginning , you do need it for the passion though. But passion unfortunately fades and is only short term

egg freezing - not sure if you'll see this but I've had eggs frozen and it was really painless and easy. I was sedated, not under general anesthesia, so I was awake but did not feel a thing, and I don't really remember the procedure other than them saying they liked my tattoos haha, and the pain after was really minimal, I just napped for the rest of the day and was able to go back to work the next day. If you've had a smear test I'd say it's even less painful than that. You also have to inject yourself with hormones for a few weeks before but I could barely feel those either.

I personally grew up in a house where my parents loved me and they never argued and i grew up went to ui found a job and met my husband at 27 and got married. Never had a major breakup and never had issues with my parent. Had friends here and there and got a lovely sister. So i honestly dont have anything to talk to therapist. Never felt frustrated so there are people who dont need it. My husband needs it since het stressful but what am i going to say to a therapist?

I agree with the just not caring what people think. At nearly 50 oh geez I'm there. It feels good to just not give a damn. It's a relief really just doing what you want. When I was 32 I met my 2nd husband. He met me at the start of I wasn't caring about stuff. He liked that I kept distance and wasn't playing catch up with phone calls. I was living my life. If I was available to see him great if I wasn't that was okay too. My husband back then was 38 so he was probably in the same phase of life as I was at that time. Now 17 years later we are still doing our thing and not giving a damn.

I think the most important thing to focus on is being happy and satisfied with your life in your 30s. There are plenty of women who have men who are completely miserable and unfulfilled in their 30s. You only get one shot at life and once you get to a certain age you can't go back and start over and check all of the important things off the list. Having a partner can be very limiting because now you've got to focus on their needs and goals and oftentimes you just become the person that cheerleads and helps actualize your partners goals meanwhile your time is dwindling down the drain. Having a partner is for people who are done living. I bet if you asked Mama Rachel she would say the same thing. Grab life with both hands and never look back.

I usually struggle with awful nausea and sickness post anaesthetic, blood pressure issues etc. Waking up from egg collection I didn’t ask for anti nausea once, I didn’t feel sick or have any issues infact was able to leave hospital earlier than anticipated. I did have some tenderness as to be expected but the surgery itself was very smooth! ❤

Ive been watching you for years and i feel the frustration under the surface. I wish i could give you constructive advice on life because i feel youre fundamentally a good and loving person. But i dont know you personally and unsolicited advice is not usually recieved well. The malady is spiritual in nature.

I knew you were neurodivergent 6:46 !!! I knew there was an intimate reason I liked you and that I have a subconscious pattern of following neurodivergent RUclipsrs! And I watch all sorts of stuff, from medicine to science and the main hosts are mostly ND, whatever the field! Anyway, you’re awesome and your special-interests in bags and fashion are awesome but your genuine enthusiasm and vulnerable honesty is what’s great, most of all.

What an odd thing to say to not want to date someone who hasn't had therapy. There are people out there who don't have issues, are happy and lead a life free of complexities ;-). Not everyone "needs" therapy.

I quite agree with you .

    • @Laflaneuse2
      @Laflaneuse2 2 месяца назад

Her claim is (unsurprisingly) also consumerist. A requirement of a date that went through therapy presupposes a set type of person that is free of moral and psychological ailments. It's like you 'buy' a fantasy of a person, a facade. But dating doesnt work like this since everyone, regardless of whether they went to therapy, is complex. Therapy is not salvation. It's no wonder that consumerist/capitalist ppl like her constantly fail in relationships.

I disagree. I do believe those people are out there, but I would prefer to be with someone who also takes advantage of therapy to improve themselves, whether there are serious issues or not. There is benefit in that type of personal reflection. Better to have that support in your life, anything can happen.
