My man, this is such a good video. I am chemistry student nearing the end of my associates and beginning my bachelor’s. Finishing my Ochems, Calc’s , etc. Number one question I get is “ what do you want to do with your degree? “ my answer everytime is “ I’m not far along enough in my journey to really know what you can do with the chemistry degree, all I know is I like to do chemistry. “ This gave me a great idea of what I could possibly go into as I further along my chemistry degree. I don’t know anyone going down the path that I am , so I don’t have any other peoples experience to look off of so this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I was working at the inorganic chemistry lab and now trying to apply for PhD in physical chemistry. Thank you for your video and hope I can have a good grad school life too! thanks!
Thank you Tyson for putting this together, and thank you everybody for sharing your experiences! I'm applying to chemistry graduate programs now, and this was super helpful in demystifying the terms used to describe branches of chemistry. Thanks!!
I am 24 years old and I am interested in Natural Products Chemistry/Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Venomonics, Chemical Biology and Genetics. It seems like natural products chemistry, ethnobotany, and marine pharmacognosy are all practiced more in places like China and India.
A lot of parallels. In order to understand and manufacture pharmaceuticals one must understand biochemistry and largely organic application, although not entirely. To my understanding. You just understand the bio side to understand how these substances will act in the body and how to manufacture them with that knowledge and implications

Thanks for watching! Best of luck applying! Feel free to check out some of our other resources for aspiring grad students on the channel.
Awesome video! I just started my PhD in Theoretical Chem at USP, greetings from Brazil!

Glad we could help! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! I know when I started undergrad I wanted to know the differences in the fields, so great video for the next future chemists!
Thanks for watching!

What is the salary expectations for PhD in chem?
What parallels, if any, exist between Pharmaceutical chemistry and bioorganic chemistry?
