South Milwaukee resident here, Crusher is a huge icon here as Sam states. Every year we hold Crusherfest, where vendors sell delicious foods and beer. We also setup a ring and enjoy some old fashioned wrasslin 😊 love ya Crusher!
I'm not saying it wasn't a good match bc it Def was.....I just like that it was a bit overrated. I know I'm gonna get heat in the comments for that but it's true imo. 🤷♂️
2005 was a nostalgic year, Batista & Cena both became huge stars after WM 21, They go on there and have legendary carrers. Although it sucked that Eddie passed away. It still hits me even after many years, But other than that, 2005 was an incredible year.
I was at the Armageddon PPV and a teenage me was so stoked to see Kane and Undertaker in person! It was so exciting - I brought poorly drawn Rey Mysterio and Kane posters and had the time of my life. Good times.
A morbid fact Chris Candido passed away a day before my 21st birthday that year. I did a wrestling tryout the day after and I had “no gimmicks” on my wrist tape to honor him. I didn’t make it as a wrestler but I was moved to production. Yes, I did celebrated his life after the show.
I'll never forget Chris Cash. He had a fire inside him every time he was in that ring. You knew damn well it would be a great match. He was destined for greatness. Forever Young Chris Cash 1982 - 2005
I know these videos take forever to make, but they are some of my favorite videos on Cultaholic. Right up there with Jack The Jobbers "Weirdest Shows" series.
Thank you Sam!!! I've been waiting on this one, when I got into pro wrestling I didn't have sky TV to watch it here in NZ so all I had was some dvds from my mates and family that used to like it, my first 3 was royal rumble 05, WM 21 and vengeance 05 which made me fall in love with the business. 05 is my favourite year of wwe
2005 us the first year of wrestling I vividly remember watching. All these moments are so nostalgic to me. I watched wrestling prior but 05 was like my real true intro to my fandom.
58:29 My heart broke that day. 🥺 Then I started my Backyard wrestling career, I came, I saw, I Conquered. I became champion and retired with 55 wins and 0 losses. Then I went to Muay Thai and then BJJ and I settled with boxing.
The Joe Vs Kobashi was my favorite DVD purchase that year ! But looking back , a lot of cool stuff went down ! Thanks for reminding me . I really appreciate this vid . Its hard to log everything that went down in a specific year but you nailed it !
Heck yes, so excited to see a new episode of Timeline! 2005 was really a sad and odd year for wrestling, but no lie that moment with Vince in the Rumble I can’t help but laugh at.
I was that Monday Night Raw on June 20th, 2005. The wedding between Edge and Lita (where Kane choke slammed the priest), an Intercontinental Title match between Carlito and Shelton Benjamin and a WWE Title match between John Cena and Mohammed Hasan. Batista also fought Kurt Angle in the main event. Great night.
47:26 I was present for this! It was actually presented as a Canada vs. US series, and we were on AMW HARD that night. But it was stunning for that to happen.
Even though 2005 was a great year, Eddie Guerrero's passing that November really broke my heart when I read about the news in the paper. It really was a shame that we never got a match with him and Shawn Michaels. Love live Eddie Guerrero, RIP, Viva La Raza.
2005 was a very good year me because I went to see WWE twice with my family & we got to see Eddie Guerrero up close and personal. Triple H, Batista, Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Kurt Angle, Kane, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, JBL, Big Show, Chris Benoit and the biggest name on the card Stone Cold Steve Austin. That's just naming a few. TNA was so good back at that time, we won't see those days again.
42:23 : That HBK promo was my first live WWE event ever. You have no idea how riled up the crowd was, the ground was pretty much shaking when Hart’s theme blared out. Also, no one cared about the Diva Search final. :)
considering IMPACT just did a clockwork orange house of fun match with Sami Callihan yeah it's still around.... Raven even did a promo about the creation of the match.
I think by 2005 I had become a lapsed fan because I know I missed ROH and TNA (the latter I'm sure I didn't miss much of). This timeline should be interesting because much of this I know nothing about.
Fun fact: we are as close to 2005 now as 2005 was to 1987. That’s crazy to me because I started watching in 2004 and 1987 might as well have been 100 years ago where as 2005 feels like 10 years ago
7:00 If you slow down the Royal Rumble finish you can see John Cena’s right foot actually hits the floor first. But you need to slow it down frame by frame to see it
After watching several of these yearly Timeline videos I’ve noticed AJ Styles has wrestled Christopher Daniels more times than I can count and it’s also the most featured match over these Timeline videos. I just wish I had marked all the matches featured (and that’s not including all the matches not brought up in these videos like house shows, non title matches and non PPV matches)
37:25 I know it’s pro wrestling but with the rise of UFC/MMA people know that Samoa Joe couldn’t choke anyone out with his rear naked choke if his opponent’s head is turned to the side (like in this shot). The head has to be facing forward and the arm has to be under the chin, it’s like with an arm bar unless your opponent’s thumb is pointing up you will never get them to tap. Maybe the arm bar is an easier one to get away with but as for the rear naked choke at least have the face pointing forward
2005 was a goat year period and the year grew to love the smackdown! Brand : Eddie and rey rivalry, taker and orton, batista becoming the main star of the brand carrying the WHC so yh smackdown was stacked the only rivalries on I like on raw was kurt and cena for the wwe championship and flair vs hhh.
58:38 You realize how quickly time passes when you’re now older than Eddie was when he died. RIP Latino Heat.
South Milwaukee resident here, Crusher is a huge icon here as Sam states. Every year we hold Crusherfest, where vendors sell delicious foods and beer. We also setup a ring and enjoy some old fashioned wrasslin 😊 love ya Crusher!
Kurt angle vs Shawn Michaels was an instant classic. It's one of those matches that i can rewatch over & over again and never get bored of it.
Same
As said on this channel. Those 2 could just stumble into a room and have a 4 star match.
Was lucky enough to see them against each other at a house show fantastic 25 minute match couldn’t ask for any more quality from start to finish
I'm not saying it wasn't a good match bc it Def was.....I just like that it was a bit overrated. I know I'm gonna get heat in the comments for that but it's true imo. 🤷♂️
@@jtp2007 you mean 5 stars
Its so hard for me to believe Eddie passed in 2005 . Blows my mind and breaks my heart !
2005 was a nostalgic year, Batista & Cena both became huge stars after WM 21, They go on there and have legendary carrers. Although it sucked that Eddie passed away. It still hits me even after many years, But other than that, 2005 was an incredible year.
Iewiwwtw
Began with the 2005 Royal Rumble; ended with the 2010 I Quit Match.
Best memory from wrestling in 2005: Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels at WM 21. One of the greatest matches of all-time.
I think its better than Taker vs HBK
I was at the Armageddon PPV and a teenage me was so stoked to see Kane and Undertaker in person! It was so exciting - I brought poorly drawn Rey Mysterio and Kane posters and had the time of my life. Good times.
A morbid fact Chris Candido passed away a day before my 21st birthday that year. I did a wrestling tryout the day after and I had “no gimmicks” on my wrist tape to honor him. I didn’t make it as a wrestler but I was moved to production. Yes, I did celebrated his life after the show.
Chris candido and Eddie guerrero were the goat
Sam and team - this was an amazing watch - thankyou so much for all of your hard work every single time - you guys are nailing it.
Always a pleasure to see a good amount of effort put in to these. Great background listening while I’m pottering around the house
True
Sam's videos are my favourite, and I do miss them being a regular thing.
Oh Eddie Guerreros last PPV match was on the day of his last birthday. Never recognised that. RIP Eddie 🙏🏻
Thanks for these videos 😊
dude this channel uploads nothing but bangers.
1 MILLION 2023 LOVE YA BYE
Please make more of these, so enjoyable. I know it’s a ridiculous amount of work, but god I need more.
2005 was when I first properly got into pro wrestling. Started watching it after playing Day of Reckoning with a friend.
I'll never forget Chris Cash. He had a fire inside him every time he was in that ring. You knew damn well it would be a great match. He was destined for greatness.
Forever Young Chris Cash
1982 - 2005
These videos are great. If they keep making them in a few years a look back at 2022 will be mental.
Can't wait for Timeline:1998
2003
I know these videos take forever to make, but they are some of my favorite videos on Cultaholic. Right up there with Jack The Jobbers "Weirdest Shows" series.
I Love this series- would be great to see a 2007 timeline. so many notable events

In 2005 I was 9 and I can say that was probably my favorite year watching wrestling
I was a child in attendance at Raw when John Cena debuted it was f@cking awesome.
58:29 My heart broke that day. 🥺 Then I started my Backyard wrestling career, I came, I saw, I Conquered. I became champion and retired with 55 wins and 0 losses. Then I went to Muay Thai and then BJJ and I settled with boxing.
Sam Driver, one of the GOATS of voiceover work.
Holy effort on research, you guys went balls in on this one.
2005 might have been one of the best times in the business. Honestly. The Rosters was STACKED.
😂😂😂😂🤡🤡🤡🤡
@@richardtherichard26 what ??
@@richardtherichard26 Were the rosters not stacked?

This has to be sarcasm. Wrestling had never been more boring in 05. I'd say maybe except for wrestlingright now. It's in a terrible place.
The Joe Vs Kobashi was my favorite DVD purchase that year ! But looking back , a lot of cool stuff went down ! Thanks for reminding me . I really appreciate this vid . Its hard to log everything that went down in a specific year but you nailed it !
I love video essays like these. I might turn into Oliver Twist; “may I have some more”
more of this please cultaholic! this was brilliant!!!!
Heck yes, so excited to see a new episode of Timeline! 2005 was really a sad and odd year for wrestling, but no lie that moment with Vince in the Rumble I can’t help but laugh at.
Eddie Guererro's tragic death is the no 1 in 2005
I was that Monday Night Raw on June 20th, 2005. The wedding between Edge and Lita (where Kane choke slammed the priest), an Intercontinental Title match between Carlito and Shelton Benjamin and a WWE Title match between John Cena and Mohammed Hasan. My first year watching WWE! Can’t wait to relive the best moments. Having never watching TNA it’s cool hearing about there matches
You missed some good shit
Patiently waits for the glorious year of 2003 to be the timeline and its 2005
No Michael no that was so not right
the year i started watching wrestling, oh how the time flies it feels like yesterday i was watching TNA
We need a Timeline for 2007.
This was the year I started regularly watching wrestling as a kid. So many memories.
This was great boys!
2005 one of my favorite wrestling years. Gawd do I miss Eddie! 😢
Late 2005 was the year I started watching Raw and Smackdown. Such nostalgia
2005 was the first year i paid full attention to wrestling. So many fun memories.
This is so much like a football season review and it gives me so much joy
47:26 I was present for this! It was actually presented as a Canada vs. US series, and we were on AMW HARD that night. But it was stunning for that to happen.
Been looking for a timeline video that covered the every company. Thank you!
Can get more of these? This was great. Great job on the video.
Love these videos guys. Thank you
Scary how it was 18 years ago remember it so well
holy shit 18?! i was like 7 and i remember so much of wwe in 2005
Even though 2005 was a great year, Eddie Guerrero's passing that November really broke my heart when I read about the news in the paper. It really was a shame that we never got a match with him and Shawn Michaels. Love live Eddie Guerrero, RIP, Viva La Raza.
Please make more of these!! I love them!
One of the best times of my life. Raw Vs Smackdown was at it's peak.
Look forward to these every new years
2005 is my personal favorite year of wwe
Love stuff like this. More please lads this was fantastic
42:23 : That HBK promo was my first live WWE event ever. You have no idea how riled up the crowd was, the ground was pretty much shaking when Hart’s theme blared out.
Also, no one cared about the Diva Search final. :)
Was lucky enough to meet Batista in May of 05 before the Monday Night Raw that had the awesome Michaels/Shelton Benjamin match. Incredible memories.
love these videos , please keep them coming ❤️
Can't wait for the 2022 PPVs ranked
I thought it was gonna be 2003 but 05 was a good year
this was the year i became a fan of tna/impact
Same tho
i saw vince getting ready to tear his quads in the thumbnail and clicked this video so quickly
Day of reckoning 2 was awesome
When it comes to 2022, I bet Cultaholics video will be at least double in length
These are always great!
considering IMPACT just did a clockwork orange house of fun match with Sami Callihan yeah it's still around.... Raven even did a promo about the creation of the match.
We're about to celebrate the 20th anniversary of all these events. Let that sink in
2005 was the PEAK of my fandom
That awesome 90’s HBK for about a month.
The JAPANIGHT RAW sign is so earnestly wholesome. It's like the opposite of CANE DEWEY.
05 tna x division was absolute peak. Notable was the triple threat between Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles at unbreakable.
You've just given me an idea for a video you should do. All the times Ric flair actually hit his move off the top rope caught on camera.
I think by 2005 I had become a lapsed fan because I know I missed ROH and TNA (the latter I'm sure I didn't miss much of). This timeline should be interesting because much of this I know nothing about.
i’m still salty about how TNA fumbled the bag wit monty brown
The year that I actually first seriously got into wrestling.
How could you not have Batista in the thumbnail. This is his year
The piped in crowd noise is funny af
Should do this for every year!!
2005: where the the Heart and Soul of Wrestling died whilst giving fans the most Prestigious moments of the decade.
Fun fact: we are as close to 2005 now as 2005 was to 1987. That’s crazy to me because I started watching in 2004 and 1987 might as well have been 100 years ago where as 2005 feels like 10 years ago
2005 is one of its best but one of its most tragic years.
Let's do 2007 next. What a great year. Ok maybe I'm biased as it was my first year of wrestling fandom.
Hey CULTAHOLIC CAN YOU DO A WRESTLING TIMELINE ON THE YEAR 2007.
7:00 If you slow down the Royal Rumble finish you can see John Cena’s right foot actually hits the floor first. But you need to slow it down frame by frame to see it
Amazing video
Holy shit they did a WWE PPV in my home state, that's insane
After watching several of these yearly Timeline videos I’ve noticed AJ Styles has wrestled Christopher Daniels more times than I can count and it’s also the most featured match over these Timeline videos. I just wish I had marked all the matches featured (and that’s not including all the matches not brought up in these videos like house shows, non title matches and non PPV matches)
„Respecting the old“ while showing a pic of Shawn Michaels in fact not respecting the old 😂
The clockwork orange house of fun match has been done recently was between sami callihan and moose
2005 really had some great stars that could've gone far if they didn't get injured or had other issues.
At least we got the New Legacy classic "My Ass" out of the JR thing.
Yes timeline video love it
Sam! How could you forget the amazing segment at the Rumble where Eddie Guerrero stole Ric Flairs number
TNA in 2005 felt like a mash up of ex WCW, ECW and WWE wrestlers
39:49 Good God Almighty that Batista face is terrifying
Raven’s Clockwork Orange House of Fun match came back in 2022 and was (as is the case with a lot of current Impact) pretty decent. Recommended
2004-2007 was prime TNA/NWA
its funny that the "blue meanie got beaten up by JBL for realzyz"-story is nearly on the same level as the montreal screwjob XP
It may be just me, but that fact that Tanahashi is older than Nakamura messed me up
2005 was an amazing year
