- Majora's Mask may be my least favorite 3D Zelda game, but that does not mean it's not a 10/10 game! The vibe that comes from the adventure in Termina is really unlike anything I've seen in another video game!

I actually prefer Majora being it's own thing, and not because of Demise. Link just got seriously unlucky.

Termina is its own separate dimension despite what any historia may say Demise’s curse holds no sway over it. Also no the first thing Majora’s Mask Skull Kid did was torment the people of Termina in various terrible ways including but not limited to slowly bringing the moon down, kidnapping the deku princess, turning kafei into a child, polluting the great bay temple, blocking romani ranch, turning the Deku Butler’s son into a very sad tree, etc. Link was just passing through and SK decided to to mess with him.

This is mostly false.
True, Termina was a dimension created by the Goddesses that Skull Kid would ultimately warp entirely baded upon his own memories.
But the completely wrong assumption is that "Demise's curse holds no sway over it", which is just completely a headcanon. Demise is the source of all evil in the Zelda verse. It wouldn't be too far fetched for Majora to just be part of the evil in the world. Now, as for deeper connection aside from that, Majora could just be an individual entity.

@@HylianKirbo that is the thing, Demises curse begins when he is defeated by Link, and this is (probably) after Majora is trapped in the Mask. Also, Demises purpose is to dominate the world with the Triforce, while Majora wants to destroy Termina because they are evil and their purpose is to create chaos
Majora isn’t related to Demise. Demise is the incarnation of evil, Majora is the incarnation of chaos.
Could be related in a familial sense, just not a motive sense. I don't know, can incarnations of concepts be siblings?

Zelda 2 is a sequel to the original Zelda
Phantom Hourglass is a direct sequel to Wind Waker and Spirit Tracks is sequel to Phantom Hourglass
The Oracle games and Links Awakening are sequels of Link to the Past

That... isn't the first thing the Mask does though. It's been wrecking Hell on Termina for a while. Case in point... Anju and Kafei. The Great Fairies. Messing with the Bombers. Literally every problem in Termina.
There have been instances of other dark entities that link has needed to fight that had nothing to do with Gannondorf.

“Link between worlds”, technically does not have Gannon as the driving force. But somebody else bringing him back and then possessing him.

I had a personal theory that the fight between link and majora was supposed to be like the current time rematch between majora and the Diety that carved majora into a mask in the first place. Not to mention it’s the one that looks the most like link normally (though there are ways to explain that) but with it all there it’s just something to speculate.

The four giants and the fierce deity are the 5 guardian deities of Buddhism they even fit their color theme and assocation with the Cardinal directions

IIRC, Majora’s Mask is an ancient artifact created by a cult/tribe that was imbued with a dark and powerful magic, possibly even for rituals. With the power to create whatever the wearer desires, but taking over the mind and body of the wearer at the same time. That’s why the Happy Mask Salesman has been holding onto it in safekeeping. However, once in the hands of the neglected and vengeful Skull Kid, it’s used for the nefarious purposes it was originally designed for.
I always think of demise only having come back as Malladus, and every other villain has nothing to do with it

I heard in the comments section on another video like this that Ganondorf was apparently supposed to be the guy at the FISHING HUT in this game, so idk if that means anything to this theory
They said it was used in rituals and sacrifices by other people. Besides, the mask seller said it was his from the beginning. I dont think it is a coincidence that all kiths in the tree at the end looked like him....

While I like Majora being a separate entity from Demise, this is the best case I've heard for the two being connected. Majora appears to be some kind of Demonic Creature/Dark Spirit, and Demise is the Primordial Demon King

I'm still going with the Twili from TP were the sheikah that tried to overthrow the king... created the mask to do so, and were banished into the twilight dimension. Makes sense as to why their technology ajd fused shadows look similar to Majora and the markings on Majora. I was hoping for the Zonai to have been that original tribe in TOTK, but sadly not.

Skull kid and Majora did a bunch of stuff before Link shows up. It's why all of termina is in shambles right of the bat. Heck the Deku shrub transformation itself was proof he was causing chaos before link.

Majora was always that spin off boss that you encountered before moving to the next main quest. And while the manga isn’t cannon, it does shed some light on the missing lore

No, Ganon is dead because majoras mask takes place after link becomes the legendary hero. The intro to the game mentions this. He is a hero who journeys to find a friend of his. He received the ocarina from Zelda and bounces.

Majora's mask was created by a cult who feared it's power. Possibly the dark Interlopers, who are former sheikah and gerudo. Were they loyal to Ganondorf however is unknown. It's possible they were the ones who told Ganondorf of the location to the tri Force in return for safe passage through the dessert

I think Termina is just a figment of the mask's imagination. It is pretty likely that the Gerudo, Twili, or Zonai created the mask and that a powerful entity is inside. Maybe this being had met a previous Link and the reason he can become the fierce deity is because that's what the mask remembers of this version of the hero, super powerful, undefeatable. Maybe this being is actually Ghirahim or something.
Before you comment about the Majora creature in the manga remember that isn't canon.
Since when is it confirmed that the Gerudo created it? The ancient tribe that created the mask is still unidentified, but if anything, the greatest contenders are the Twili, the Sheikah, or the Zonai.

If the only prerequisite of being a part of Demise’s curse is having aggression towards link then the guy who runs the clawshot minigame in Twilight Princess is a part of the curse. You know how Tingle charges link to translate the triforce charts? He’s a part of the curse too because of that. Remember in Majora’s Mask how Sakon tries to steal Link’s sword? OBVIOUSLY a part of the curse.
I hate theories like this because the reasoning is so broad that the thing you’re basing the theory off of loses all meaning. I mean shit, we could even say that Mario is a part of demise’s curse because the first thing that happens when someone picks Mario to go up against Link in smash Mario shows aggression to link. This is meaningless.
