Interesting how you are presenting this as a cost savings... The 360 transducer setup by itself costs more than an SI + DI unit. Just taking a guess here, most people who put a 360 transducer on their boat are willing to spend the money on an SI unit and transducer as well.
I don’t understand the hack here… I have the mega 360 ice bundle I bought for ice fishing, are you telling me I could use that exact helix unit and mega 360 transducer in my jon boat and have side imaging?
I am waiting for the Mega 360 transducer to be built in to the Minn Kota Ultrex, also expecting a real cable steer instead of the current "cable" (fly by wire) power steering version to compete with the Motor Guide Tour Pro. ...May never happen but Minn Kota Raptor (Power Poles) did.
You really don't want 360 mega mounted on your trolling motor. Then it would be the same problems you see with the trolling motor transducer from the other manufacturer's. The good thing about 360 is it's always oriented top of the screen in line with the bow of the boat. The others will move around depending on which way you are trolling motor is pointed. Mounted a transducer 20 years ago on my trolling motor so I could see under docks. Problem is you have to position your boat with the trolling motor around the dock and then take a peek under it. But with the new spot lock systems unless you look at your trolling motor then look at your screen one second and make sure your trolling motor is pointed in the same Direction you want to scan and it's problematic. The other good thing about Mega 360 is very easy to see Fish and twigs and other fish holding structure. The distance rings and angular location of targets on the 360 display are very accurate when you're casting. As with all systems there's a trade-off. 360 works better when you're stationary but if you move 5 ft and let 360 show you what's there it's very accurate. I find that bass and other game fish tend to hide in structure. So looking for structure on the 360 is better than seeing fish even though I can see fish moving around. Plus you can change the speed of the rotating 360 transducer. PS hummingbird makes a mount for Mega 360 that can be put on any boat. I look forward to trying Side Imaging from my 360 on my bow mounted solix G2 and see if there's really any value to it. Mega 360 allows me to see what is in front of me and around me from the front of the boat. Using networked transom mounted Side Imaging transducer only shows you what's behind you. In my humble opinion not a very good way to fish . And if I want to be quiet and scan and area I'll sit down at the helm run my trolling motor with the remote and watch my console-mounted solix unit , equals comfort and Side Imaging wow. if you're networked you can also sit at the console and watch your 360 Mega images . Correction, the Humminbird Mega 360 unit is mounted to the trolling motor shaft. But does not rotate with the trolling motor head as do some of the other side looking transducers.
Do you have a video on how to shorten the shaft on a Mega 360? I have a bass boat and during my install on my Humminbird Ultrex I find I am in trouble if I either raise my prop I run into problems with the transducer and if I lower the unit I run into the Head of the trolling motor hitting the top of the shaft. What are my options? Feel like I made a bad purchasing decision.

I have a Helix 9 Si which I can't see a damn thing on, your 10" Si was just as bad. I can't see fish on either one of em. I added the 360 last year thinking it might help, wrong. Most of the time I never take the cover off. My first Ranger had a flasher in the dash, I wish I had it back.
Lol it's primary thing is to locate cover the fish hide in and around. Would you like it to grab the fish and throw them in live well for you too?? Lol.
dsgbqc you can use your builtin DI on your TM, get the mdi+ w DI transducer which is cheaper than the msi+ combo. Yes the SI is coming from the 360 transducer
Have you been able to get rid of that interference yet? I have the same interference you have on your screen when in the Mega frequency and have any steering or thrust input on the Ultrex pedal. I’ve been dealing with it for 3 weeks (with some help from Humminbird) and we can’t get it to go away. The mega 360 works great when not on the trolling motor pedal. It also works great when I have the frequency changed to 455kHz and not 1.175KHz. Frustrated... I’ve tried everything.
Does the ultrex have a brushless motor like the Lowrance ghost if not this may correct the issue an see if there’s a setting for noise rejection an turn it on high not to familiar with humming bird I have Lowrance units
Just make sure to avoid treetops and floating debris when side-scanning on plane, or that 360 and whatever it's mounted to will be bent to hell and back.
For those that do not have 360 Transducer.....Just run a Network cable from your Console SI Helix to your Bow DI Helix and from the Bow DI unit you can pull up your SI Transducer on the back of your boat.
What do you select on the Helix unit to display the SI?

So what if you already have a MSI Helix unit? Can the M 360 transducer work with it as well for M 360? I have a Helix 7 MSI GN4...
Hell if you have the money to buy all that what's a few more dollars for msi

You don't need to do anything special. This is a feature of the MEGA 360. just plug and play!

Will you need a transducer for the DI or can the 360 do DI too? And will the SI image be mega or mega+ going through the 360?

According to hummingbird the side imaging from the mega 360 is not mega+. Just mega side imaging.

Because you can find cover faster with si, then go back to it with 360 to setup on it.
