THAT'S how the 3d glasses work?! I always wondered, but "look through this LCD with the reflective layer removed while we flash it on and off" was *nowhere* on my list. Crazy...
You described my experience with the game exactly. The third stage is ridiculous with those missiles that crisscross the screen, and limiting the player to one continue is horrifically cruel even for Konami.
Konami FC/FDS games just worked even though they're always minimalistic and very simple at the gameplay ideas. I think Falsion is a great example of that. The only real exception of that Konami formula is Cosmic Wars coz' it was pretty advanced (and sloooow) for its time :D
I actually got a pirate conversion of this game to Famicom cartridge a while ago, it's the same game but it's missing the extra FDS sound channel. fwiw I don't think I ever got past level 3 either.
It’s hard to say much about this one, it’s definitely another hard space shooter, but at least it has a nice viewpoint we don’t see too often, even if it makes shooting enemies too hard.
I think I played a bit of this one? might have to revisit it. too bad it wasn't actually a gradius sequel/spinoff it would've been neat to see a 3D take on that series.
For me, it's Cosmo Police Galivan. Anyway this is a great game and it's far from being the most difficult SMHUP on the Famicom, or by Konami, or by Konami on FDS. I've beaten both and Gyruss is a lot more difficult.
Once again, Konami is one of the few game companies that knows how to squeeze power out of the disk system. This one looks kind of difficult. It is definitely not my kinda game. This is a pretty neat Space Harrier style shooter for a stock 1983 console that just has a little extra space on a disk than a cartridge.
The biggest impact this game had in the west was how the game over tune was used for a particular RUclips group with a name related to boots... I'm being vague for a reason. As for the actual game itself, I find it to be fine for the Disk System but damn the music in this is exactly what I expect from Konami. The 3D System support is cool but it's unfortunate that it doesn't fix the core issue of not being able to tell how far you and the other ships are.

Sounds very American Konami alright.
*Thinks about that one part from the US version of Thunder Cross*

Solar assault says hi
@@nate567987 fair, but perhaps I should've been more specific and said on famicom/fds.
This game is great
Oh wow, I share a birthday with this game lol.

I’m something of a fail son myself.
Did anyone else misread the title as "Failson" at first?
wow, a game that's actually somewhat competent. That shouldn't be worth getting excited about but for this series it's a pretty big deal
Falshion was playable in gradius gaiden
I never realized that Gradius was a misspelling of Gladius before this video
3 dimensions are abnormal, according to the main options.

3 Dimension Boots
...odd. I don't remember that game being quite so hard. I remember some of the Engrish, though. Something about a cup of coffee.
