Remember woke is out and God is in and has always been in. Like Chase Davis approach on conservatives and its importance in the church. Standing firm and keeping the faith is important to fight off the woke and media status of society. Hats off to Chase Davis. Never replace your faith and strong values to follow unfaithful practices and false traditions. Keep on the narrow path to salvation and not on the wide road to destruction regardless what the media is following and promoting that goes against God’s Biblical doctrine. Remember the truth will set you free.
Such a shame. I used to listen to Matt Chandler all the time between 2012-2014. He went off the rails theology-wise somewhere around 2018. The sad thing is, he’s the one who taught me the devolution from someone who is strong in faith to eventually letting their pride get the best of them. Now he is a living example of exactly that.
I used to watch and recommend Matt Chandler and David Platt . Seems they both went in the same direction toward Woke and social justice. It was sad to watch as it seemed that Scripture was going by the wayside. I had to stop watching Both Pastors.
Chandler went bad earlier than that. There is a article online by a cop who was a member of his church who details what he was experiencing with Chandler in the 2015 to 2016 time. It is clear that Chandler was already awful by then. He responded to the local BLM cop massacre by hosting a panel of radicals to heap more reviling on police.
God helped me see how that Matt Chandler was going to do something down the road that would basically ruin him. He would never be the same again. During the time, before 2010, my pastor friend thought that Matt Chandler was the greatest. He would show me Matt Chandler videos thinking that because Mr. Chandler would begin to slow talk calmly, AND THEN START YELLING ALL OF A SUDDEN, that somehow it justified just what he was doing. But the fact that Matt Chandler would do that, just really turned me off to him. It was like seeing a kid wanting to impress other people and so he uses cheap yelling tactics. But what Matt Chandler was doing was just regurgitating talking points from theology books or other people. But he is reformed supposedly, so, the whole, lets follow the him because he is reformed, is what many did. Which is why it didn't surprise me with what happened to him. He was already teetering years ago. People didn't want to see it because he checked off all the reformed boxes. But just because you profess doesn't mean that you possess.
"and join other movements like Operation Reconquista." Sounds good! It's just not God's way. His way is ALWAYS, "come out from among them, and be ye separate".
The whole concept was unbiblical. It didn't GO bad. It WAS bad. God doesn't need programs. He doesn't need people to be "missional", or "complementarian", or any of those stupid labels. He wants OBEDIENCE. "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the *_simplicity_* that is in Christ. " (2Cor 11:3, KJV)
I dunno man, have y'all even read Woke Church by Eric Mason? Woke is a word from the urban context that was hijacked from the left about a decade ago. It's a really good book and I'm sure you're defining the word differently than he (and I) would. Nothing wrong with trying to reach other communities. I'm not a fan of Matt Chandler's cringe takes, but I can see his heart. He isn't on that David Platt type of "wokeness." I hate how so many in the church are running with a false definition of the word. I've been using it for over 30 years and it just means being aware.
@@OtisKopp Guessing you didn't listen to Eric Mason call conservative black Christians house slaves a few years ago? And then listen to him weep while giving a non-apology apology? That ended his career.

I would enjoy an even longer version of this conversation. Thanks gents for your pastoral insights.
Insistence on loyalty without accountability screams “NO INTEGRITY”

Same. So true

Great talk gentlemen!

Yes, please join the SBC and join other movements like Operation Reconquista.

Please. No more 501c3 brick buildings.
Sounds like Chase has become right wing woke.
What does that even mean?
😂
Whatever you say Pablo

That book is trash.
@c.m.granger6870 how so?
@c.m.granger6870 what parts of the book don't you agree with in light of scripture?
