- ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT SALT. Cuttlebrook Koi farm do not keep their koi in salt water. They only add salt to the water when they are moving fish to a new environment, which is what they recommend customers do, and they use it for certain parasites. After a week, they always begin to bring the salt level down and continue to do that until there is none left in the system.
Just stumbled across your video - love it ! Anyone who appreciates Chagoi and their kin is alright by me 🙂 After 40 years of keeping koi and loving many varieties, the simple beauty of Chagoi remains a firm favourite and then there's their temperament ❤
Hi, thank you for watching. I agree with the Chagoi. Cuttlebrook Farm have got an amazing line and amazing offsprings.
Chagoi are definitely my favourite too.
That’s a great visit and video, lots and lots of beautiful koi 👍
Hi Anthony, thank you for watching. It was a great visit. Highly recommended if you have never been.
The excitement and passion in this video is inspiring. Thank you for sharing this
Thank you Dave for the kind comment. Very much appreciated
Thanks for your video it really brought back great memories. We visited Cuttlebrook Farm and met Mark on 15th May to collect our three new fish. Whilst there we couldn’t resist buying two more small ones. They are all doing well in their new home in north Wales.
That's great Terry. I am glad the koi are doing well. Your comment made me smile when you said you couldn't resist 😊
Fantastic amazing
I have stumble across your channel I give you 110% for effort, its a trying time building a koi pond and then to look after them too. The information you took from Paul is invaluable priceless my pond took me 20months apparently weekends slogging away in all weather's up at dawn and day finishing when I had no light.. I wouldn't change the challenge and the constant headache it gave me.
Serenity, you used perfect. My pond has been up and running for 3 yrs now karashigoi's I'm a sicker for single colour koi so chagoi I get the fascination.
Fantastic
All the best Graham
Thank you Graham. Really kind message. It took me 2 months to build mine but believe me, I am paying the price now and physically.. 2 nice injuries and a chipped tooth with the screws in my mouth. But, gradually finishing the last bits now. My pond is not massive though. Now preparing for the winter already 🙄
Karashigoi fan then 😉 nice choice! Thank you again for your kind words.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection mine isn't much bigger than yours 10000litres but I did go the whole hog.. With a drum filter to bio chamber and then it all passes through a reed filter and last year I added an ashp as going from winter into spring and vice versa is hard on the fish and behaviour becomes hard to read..
Koi keepers seem to have a lot of issues with parasites and water chemistry mainly due to overstocked just like you I only have 9 koi which have grown massively from tiddlers to 60cm+ within 3 yrs.
Trial and error is key to learning and your bang on in your thinking
@@grahamchurchward7159 oh yeah, 10000litres is 2500 litres more than me. That's a super nice size. I have small fish which are growing but I am at 12 fish now.. just an excuse for me to extend in 2 years time. 😊 Then I will add an air source heat pump. If I can afford it.
Wow, amazing koi , all shapes and colours , what an amazing facility and the water conditions and quality of the koi too.
That’s was an amazing tour of his facility and it’s great that he would take the time to teach you all that he knows as well.
Hi, thank you for watching. Much appreciated. I couldn't film it all, too much to take in and enjoying it and also didn't want to put the camera in Marks face all the time. I was privileged to see the whole lot, I could work at this farm.
Happy birthday Lass thanks for the walk round very much enjoyed it Happy ponding
Thank you my mentor. Glad you enjoyed it. Missed out on that Chag ☹️
Cracking purchases Lau great video. I know they don't keep their fish in salt 24/7 I had Karashigoi and Chagoi small fish not long out of harvest which means they would have been in salt for a short period before I purchased them. This is how I know they could cope with the 0.5% I put in the grow on. I have studied Mark and Lisa's farm progress and build for many years. They use to produce some of the best Shiro Utsuri, that was their staple fish. I have only ever heard good things about Mark.
He is truly an amazing guy, so willing to explain and share with people. Dave, you should see in real the scalation in the chags and Karashigoi he is working on. It was just to die for.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL superb honest video loved it all from start to finish. BEAUTIFUL .......
Thank you Terry for the kind comment. Glad you liked it.
Happy birthday! The visit to the farm was informative. I learned quite a bit.
Your enthusiasm and passion for koi keeping shines through and make your videos so enjoyable to watch! And I know what you mean regarding the serenity from being with koi. When I watch mine, it’s like I’m transported to another life; any anxieties and negative thoughts are just forgotten. Love your videos!
Thank you Christina for the very kind comment. This is much appreciated.
And I understand what you feel. And if it doesn't bring all this to you, then you need to carry on ☺️ let them make you feel good inside. Thank you again.
That was a awesome video. I can totally feel your passion. Thanks for sharing this with us all. You rock. 🪨
Oh you make me smile with all your kind messages.
I still think about that visit. I so so enjoyed it. Mark is amazing and what a koi farm!
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection yes I could tell you really had a great time there. You sharing at the end was priceless. What a great birthday gift. 🎉🎂🎊
Passion in your voice when you talk about koi is absolutely inspiring! So glad I subscribed to your Channel! Someone who feels like I do about them!
Hi Stephan, thank you for your kind message and subscribing.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection 😘👍
Great informative video. What a wonderful selection of high quality koi and Mark explained things so clearly. I am so glad I live in Canada and not the UK because if I did I don't think I could ever leave somewhere like Cuttlebrook Koi farm without spending all the money I had on koi.
Hi, thank you for this great feedback. I couldn't capture everything as I didn't want to be rude and put the camera in Marks face, but I agree, it was amazing. I have 4 koi from them, really good quality.
What a great video to watch and listen to, your a top lady lau, peace and koi lol. Cheers 👍
Thank you Richard as always for the nice comments. This is truly appreciated.
Happy Birthday Lau, couple of cracking fish you bought, thanks for filming your visit, I learnt a couple of things from Mark as well.
Thank you Marek. I couldnt film everything as I didnt want to be rude but my brain is still processing :-) Really pleased with both fish, exactly what I was looking for, especially the pattern of the showa. It has the three colours on the face, so really pleased. Missed out on the chag as it had been sold, but blimey, the skin, body shape and colours of all the fish were just incredible.
Happy birthday Lau, hope you had a great day.
Thanks for the video 👍
Thank you Simon. Most definitely had an amazing time at the farm. Brain still processing what I saw and heard 🙂
Great video enjoyed you passion for Koi. I have never spent more than £50 for a koi but very pleased with the fish I have. It is not always about show winners
Hi Craig. Thank you for your kind comment. You are absolutely right, i guess it all depends why we go into this hobby. Show winners don't really interested me, my pond is not big enough for that but I do like pretty fish ☺️
I only have 9000 ltr with too many fish so cannot house 1 meter koi . I have 3 in the 50 to 60 cm range that I have owned since they were 5 cm will keep them always about 15 years old been through 3 pond revamps
@@craigpeat8645 that's so cool to have some large fish that you have grown. Love that. I have a chat too that I've had since he was 4/5 cm. I can't have large fish either...
Nice showa! That ochiba is amazing!
Thank you Stephan. yes one of the ochiba was very good, it doesnt show on the video but the colour is very vibrant
Completely get where you’re coming from, the serenity and calmness of koi, I’m quite happy to sit by my pond with some koi food and a coffee for hours. And you are right about a visit to Cuttlebrook Koi Farm, I’ve been twice now. My first visit was pre-pandemic, Mark have us the full tour, which must have lasted 2 hours, fascinating man, who is happy to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for koi. I’m the proud owner of 11 Cuttlebrook koi. I have a slightly smaller, almost identical Chag, to the one Mark bowled for you. And 2 beautiful yamabuki ogons. I picked up a 30cm Shiro and 5 small koi the day before your visit. I agree with you about wildlife photography, you can get a similar calmness looking through the eyepiece of your camera. Loved the video, great work. I too would highly recommend a visit to Cuttlebrook Koi Farm. Stay safe and well. 👍🏻
Thank you Steven for your constructive comment. Really good. We are on the same wave length :-) I go crazy when I see a nice Chag, but those were just beauty. Thank you for watching
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Buy 3 Chags on Fridays event, phone up and speak to Lisa. Get her to ask Mark to select them for you. You’ll be amazed how quick they grow.
@@stevenlane2641 I wish. I just haven't got the room for 3 more...

Thank you Carol. It was a fantastic place. Loved it. Stay safe too.
Morning Lau happy birthday, nice birthday present two stunning fish, thanks for sharing and filming some fascinating things going on there x
Thank you. Yes it was fascinating. I could just stay with Mark for ages and still be totally absorbed.
Very interesting and informative video, happy birthday lau.
Andy & Bizley
Thank you Andy and Bizley of course 🙂 I am pleased that I managed to film some bits where Mark was explaining. It was amazing.
What a koi farm, and you have picked up 2 cracking fish 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you. Yeah didn't film everything, but well worth booking an appointment and seeing it. Amazing place. Looking forward to see the shows develop.
Happy birthday Lau🎂🍰. I know what you mean about the serenity that koi can bring, although keeping them can be heart breaking at times, when everything is running to plan they are truly marvellous and very spiritual 👍. Your enthusiasm always comes through in your videos which makes them a pleasure to watch so keep them coming 👍🐟🈲😊
aww thank you Phil. Of course, there will be some hard and frustrating days... and that's how it started for me, trying to save a koi which was in the pond in the property we bought. Thank you for the kind comment :-) Keep well
Nice update Lau lovely Chags 🙏🐟🐟🐟🐟🙏
Thank you Carol. Can't believe that was a year ago already! Loved that day.
Cuttlebrook farm is a fabulous place to visit we have a few of marks koi and they grow great and mark is so knowledgeable and passionate about his koi hopeing to getting a platimium in July when I visit my son Dave
Hi Wendy, thank you for commenting. They do have a great reputation. I was thrilled to visit it and so grateful for them to let me film, when I remembered to ☺️ hope you can get the platinum ogon you are after, nice fish! Let me know
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection will do my son sometimes help mark on the farm and like you I was honoured to get a look round all the rooms and see the parents last year we bought a chag from him from the special room and it’s a beautiful fish so friendly, will let you know what I buy in July

Thank you Dave. Yes both are quite nice young fish. Super happy.
Thanks Lou, hopefully my filters will go in this weekend and I can place my order for mid month. I am lucky I have enough mature K1 in my nexus that I can move 75 litres to my new pond and put the new K1 in the older nexus.
Fantastic. Keep me updated. Genuinely interested. So envious too that you will get some of my favourites.
Oh I am loving some of these.. Great job
Happy birthday Lau, hope you both have a lovely day.
Thank you Steve. Not sure Rachel was amazed hahaha but then a couple of years ago she made me go clothes shopping for hours... So sweet revenge haha

Thank you Rasta. Means a lot. Hope you are well.
Nice video Lau some really nice fish , and a couple of lovely additions to your pond , the question is was the chag available on the website????
Hi Martin, thank you for the comment. For the chag... :-( I missed out, it had been sold already. I was truly gutted.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection plenty of others to choose from 😉😉😉
@@K.W.P.R Yeah some others will come up :-)
Hi Lau
I know exactly what you are saying and how you are feeling that was exactly how I felt when I first met Mark and Lisa many many moons ago and also have had the privilege to work and help and be taught most of what I know about the koi hobby by Mark who is an amazing man
Ps
Happy birthday 🎂
Thank you for the Bday wishes. I didnt meet Lisa unfortunately but had Mark there with me for more than an hour and it was just an honour.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection Mark and his pond systems are on a very different level and I'm very surprised that you did not come home with a chagoi I wouldn't go any where else for one Marks chagoi grow huge
@@LeTwistedOne Yeah I do understnad what you mean about not going anywhere else. I have to say, except my big Kujaku and Chagoi and the two I have just bought from Cuttlebrook, I am almost tempted to just sell all of them and replace with Cuttlebrook fish.
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection oh yes I know that feeling well but you have to move stuff on especially when some thing better quality catches your eye
Trust me that feeling never goes away lol
@@LeTwistedOne True... I might aswell do it now then :-)
Got some nice ones there , went a few years ago
yes absolutely. Some really nice ones in the big pond but all the young fish and sansai were stunning and clean
If only we were all millionaires, how many koi would we buy 😂😂😂 happy birthday lau did you buy the chag aswell ?
Oh tell me about it!
No I missed out on the chag, it was already sold. Next time but he was truly stunning.
SO BEAUTIFU FISH KOI
They were indeed.
Happy birthday 🎂👍
Thank you very much
Morning Lau what a fascinating video and you got two belters of fish that showa is just the sort i like. So tempted to log in to their sale saturday but i said no more fish!

Nice video 👍
You were like a kid in a candy store 😂
I do like Chagoi's, Karashigoi's and Sorashigoi's. Currently have a Chagoi and I think a Karashigoi.
haha I know. That's exactly what Rachel said. My heart was like coming out of my chest sometimes :-) Same here, Chagoi first, Soragoi and Karashigoi are my favorites. I will never be able to have a Karashigoi as my pond is only 3m long x 1.88 wide, but there were stunning over there. Never seen that constant quality
@@LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection You can always get a small one and grow it on then sell it and start again 😇
@@CBersPond I normally can grow them and sell them, but I dont think I would ever have the heart to sell a Chag or Karashigoi...
