This is the best Indian sitcom in History. IMDb rating of 9. Middle class and upper class families and comedy timing in this show was way ahead of its time. Saas, bahu and family comedy is very common but Sarabhai vs sarabhai is a cult classic.

What a subtle take on parenting.... Indravadan was disappointed in Roshesh as he did not have a personality he would have liked to see in his son & hence shunned him & mocked him.... this resulted in a young Roshesh to move towards his mother & get more & more attached to her... Maya who understood the disinterest of her husband in the son, took the 3rd child under her wings and gave him more love than him as he needed it... Due to lack of fathers attention & love in his childhood, Roshesh ultimately grew up to be a Mumma's boy

I mean it's rare to hear words like gay or talk about one's sexuality in Indian daily soap.
And Indu even said he didn't mind it if Rosesh was indeed gay. Definitely progressive for its time.
That's why most people didn't understand the satire and sarcasm at that time.

My mother was not interested in cooking and cleaning house, she prefers vanity over work. We had clothes thrown everywhere just like Monisha's, even dog and cat's hair strands everywhere.
After marrying, my MIL was just like Maya , but she taught me lovingly how to cook and clean house. Now whenever I go to my maaikaa, I understand how Maya Sarabhai feels like when she is at Monisha's house.

Reading the comments I think the whole society is really progressing. Whoever everyone hated back in the day, they seem to like now. I also have found appreciation for Rosesh at a whole new level. Rosesh is my favourite character in September 2023 whoopieee 😅😊

Yes, she's logical and very smart. Her character flaws are hypocrisy and ignorance and, she also schemes (granted, Indu does it too) and plays mind games with her own sons and family members to prove a point or get her way.
She is very manipulative and pretentious in some episodes. She can go to any lengths to manipulate her own sons and husband.
Also she bullied Monisha for no reason sometimes. Just like Indu bullied Roshesh.
