One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.

I no longer believe in things being “faster”. Apple has the capability to slow things down through updates and they have been sued for that already. Just a thought.
I believe, Apple releases different updates for each device. All get the same features, but the level of slowness increases. Example, iPhone 8 gets iOS 13 and so does XR. But it’s not the same thing. The iPhone 8 one brings down the speed of the phone by, let’s say 5 percent and likewise with the battery. But the XR one, with the same update loses 3 percent of battery and speed. Overtime, your phone gets so bad, you have to buy a new one

They're just AirPods. Apple haven't stated anywhere these are AirPods 2, but rather a second generation of the first AirPods. It's probably the same reason Apple haven't pushed advertisement for these new AirPods since they aren't supposed to be a completely new product. I have a feeling AirPods 2 will improve on sound quality and with any hope provide an in ear version for people like me where the standard AirPods just don't cut it for fit
