The PS1 was ahead of it’s time, but I wouldn’t give it all the credit. But then again, here’s a fun fact: The PS1 has a sample rate of 44.1kHz like the Sega CD and Dreamcast, but Nintendo took 3+ consoles to standardize CD quality among themselves; they LOVE 32kHz. ⭐️
Honestly I’m suprised when I found out that PS1 music is also MIDI sequenced. Mega Man X6 soundtrack sounds almost realistic, but PS1 also supports effects like reverb, pitch modulation etc.
@@nostalgicrosin Oh yeah. No matter how “MIDI” a song is, as long as you have plenty of effects to support it, it can sound as if it never was MIDI to begin with. PS2 only has double the capabilities with it’s “Sound Processing Unit 2”.

Which tool did you use to rip these?
I used VGMToolbox to extract PSF data, then used VGMTrans to convert it to MIDI, SF2, DLS.
