Can you imagine the Murdoch, 9 and 7 West media response to those suggestions? There's no way the ALP, LNP or Teals would implement any of those ideas.
While I am all in favour of all organisations, domestic or foreign, who earn a profit in Australia being taxed appropriately, we have to be VERY careful of going down the path of taxing certain classes of organisations based on it being politically popular to do so. More organisations are choosing social media advertising over traditional print, radio and television advertising because the organisations perceive social media advertising to be more effective. Why should we prop up legacy media companies who would rather lobby (through effectively opaque political donations) for government protection of their old outmoded business model than put time and effort into innovating their business model to find a way to compete and be profitable in the 21st century media and advertising market.
Honestly on RUclips it is just an onslaught of gambling ads. You get an ad on RUclips every 5 minutes or so and 9 out of 10 times, its a gambling ad. TAB, Ladbrokes, whatever else. It's just endless. As someone who despises gambling with just a burning hatred, its enough to make me just not want to watch RUclips anymore. Its just freaking awful. Why only ban it on children's programming, why should us adults have to suffer as well. I am just so tired of it. Its like the gambling companies are determined to make people lose, even when they aren't gambling directly.
Albanese is getting into the habit of doing things by half because doing it all upsets half and he does not want to upset anyone he wants balance in life. A fail that goes well with no one. Everyone is dissatisfied. Muscle up Albo make change for the better, not dilute the angst. *_Coffee that is diluted is worse than no coffee. It loses sales all round as people go elsewhere. Elsewhere is a disaster for politicians._*
Matt needs to be cognisant of the constitution. A person or entity cannot be taxed and the money allocated to a specific purpose. All revenues must go into consolidated revenue. The budget is where government spending is itemised, not in a public statement. It must also be born in mind that Tax is not revenue for the federal government. However real revenue can be derived from federal government businesses, if there are any left after the Coalition gets hold of them, highlighting the stupidity of selling them, or leasing them for extended periods which is as good as selling them. All expenditure is a simple Treasury key stoke instruction to the RBA to action Action which is done by creating the money by keystroke as a deposit to the entity named and log it in the government expenditure accounts. The Treasurer does not have a pot of tax money neatly labelled with " For" or "to" labelled in his office and broken scoop with which to hand it out. In fact he does not have a pot of unlabelled money either.
I’d suggest junk food advertising is equally pernicious and ubiquitous in sports and should be banned, so that better businesses with more positive products can fill the slots, instead of just more silly ‘vices’
David Pocock has been such an asset to a diverse parliament, he has been the champion to us Aussie battlers to have our voices heard.

Perhaps I am been a little harsh, it is his turn to be PM

I don't think Matt is suggesting that at all..
@@brycehamilton4903 Suggesting what? there are several "whats" here in my comment. Which part or one is Matt not suggesting?
