And unfortunately what he said 19 years ago still holds true today. I'm not American and what he said is exactly how I feel about the States.... They're not progressing , they're turning back the clock now. I was sobbing watching his videos ......I definitely miss him for sure.
I adore George. From the moment I saw his first performance with Wham! I was hooked. I have followed this mega talented artist for his entire career. I have all of his albums and all of the singles that he released. I feel so fortunate that I saw him in concert a few times before he passed. His beautiful angelic voice was something to really experience. His personality and charisma on stage was like no others. Every interview I've seen, he's carried himself with honesty, awareness and has always been respectful and humble. I don't think we'll ever see such a talented musician again, at least not in my lifetime. Unfortunately I believe that George was never truly happy with himself. He did know how good his music was and he knew how an amazing singer he was. He also loves his fans and was a very generous human being with all his charities. The problem he had was with the gay community. Because he had a ten plus year open relationship with his husband and had the nerve to say I can have an open relationship with my partner and I'm happy that passed people off. Unfortunately I believe that his Insecurities and years of fame and the pressure from the press led him to do drugs during the last 12 years of his life. I however unlike some of the other nasty queens out there do not believe his open relationship caused his drug use. Sorry and the people who judge that harshly should look at themselves and shut the fuck up. Can't stand the hypocrisy

George Michael has been asked the most personal questions since the start of his career. Most artists would walk away, shut it down. Not that it's any of our business either... but your honesty, intelligence and beautiful soul is why we love him so........
Just too sensitive for this world. Emparhs are very sensitive souls. Healers, givers and authentic with true authenticity. Such truth and honesty xxx😇😇😇😇 Men with freedom !💜💜💜
This interview is 18 yrs old. The US is still handling the same issues pretty much the same way. I absolutely adore this man. His life is very similar to mine. His songs speak to me like no other artist. His fans could care less what his sexuality was. That was just the press hounding him to be the first to make the big story. They didn't care about him, period. He is loved as much today as he was from the days of WHAM! Probably even more (if possible) as we learn more and more about him since his passing. I miss him so very much. I listen to his music every day. His music makes me feel a sense of peace, and love, want to dance slow and fast, LOL to Outside, and COL to Mother's Pride, Pray for Time, and his rendition of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, to name a few. I seriously cannot find a song I don't love. George needed peace. His soul hurt here on earth. I know this feeling. Always Loved, Forever Missed, Never Forgotten Continue to Rest In Peace GM 💖
"COULD care less"... Arrgh! If this interview is 18 years old, you must be half that in age. Students in the U.S. are SO illiterate. Pay for your college degree if mummy and daddy are rich and powerful enough to do it for you and pay all accompanying fees, you pass college and move onto success, deserved or not. People in the U.S. don't know basic English. That's why we have complete idiots running this country, just wealthy offspring off wealth. You pay, you play. No wealth from the family, you're screwed, regardless of how brilliant you may be. The U.S. is sick. I wish Phil Collins would move me to His home in Switzerland to work for him (caretaker, housekeeper, etc.) so I can take care of my autistic son and myself.
Such an intelligent and well spoken man, RIP GEORGE! The world has truly lost a gem. Such a shame this video has so many dislikes I quite enjoyed his dialogue, he deserves more respect than that!
That may be because the media influenced brain washed masses are not intelligent. Frightening! George is just such a highly intelligent individual who knows how to think and what he is talking about. Always true to himself, ahead of the time and a great pleasure to listen to in ALL his interviews.
Ar Qosa Of course people know that many die every day but that has nothing to do with people liking this interview. I bet the ones who disliked it didn't even watch it and listen to what that intelligent icon George Michael was talking about. He really is a great pleasure to listen to. I would have loved to have conversations with him. He's amazing. And now after I liked that video people still die every day.
I could see that the interviewer definitely respected George. His questions weren't silly or repetitive and he listened to what George said. So many interviewers didn't! George had so much style, in every way.
Why would you dislike this??? He is being honest and candid. He didn't have to speak about his personal life, but he did. He was an honest and articulate man and it was very kind of him to give us some insight in to his private life. Rest in peace George. I will never forget you!?? 🙏🙏🙏 👼 👼
What an intelligent, humble, tactfull, thoughtfull, profound person. Not only my favourite singer of all but a great man. So many of us are lucky to be drawn to him and his light...
All these years later, it still hasn’t sunk in to me that our beloved GM isn’t here in person. He had so much love and empathy for his fellow man and I mean that with all sincerity and respect and his loss is almost unreal to digest. His gift of song will continue to touch the hearts and souls of millions around the world for generations to come.
Such a remarkable, intelligent man George Michael. He changed the way we think about life, politics and love-sexuality through his music. The man had a superb voice and the world is a lesser place without him. Keep sharing this interview!
George is such a smart man. It's astounding how he can articulate immensely complex political conundrums in such an easy, conceptually fluid manner. A terrific loss to the world.
So many talented people like George Michael can not live in their own heads. Its almost like genius equals depression.I saw it in my mother. My mother was the most knowledgeable, well read person I have ever known. She had books at every station in our home. She read 8-10 books a week.Reading was all she wanted to do.If she wasn't reading she talked about books. Her mother,my grandmother was the same. Insomnia, depression all a part of their lives. George Michael was extremely intelligent.I do miss his voice and songs.A huge loss.
wow 8-10 books a week OMG that is an insane amount of informations for a human brain ,yes i do believe that your mom was way head of her time with others cause most of the people never lift book after they finish schools and that kinda amount of knowledge put her to the genius level and its a lonely place really
This man just dropped knowledge about U.S. history, politics, homophobia, religion, and race issues that most "Americans" can't even speak to! Damn. I was already a fan - but I love this man even more after listening to this interview. I miss GM!! (1/7/23)
Now THIS was a good interview. Much respect for John Norris for making a straight forward interview. George seemed pleased and confortable on this one. RIP George
After what the media did to this man ---"outing" him in that LA bathroom, blasting the headline in international press, honestly im amazed he ever did an interview again. The man was a warrior. A absolute fighter.
I've always been a fan of George Michael, always recognized his talent and stunning good looks - what a beautiful man. Like (to him), can you just stand still and let me enjoy a moment of total rapture to take it all in. Not until after his untimely passing, did I pay attention to his interviews. He's even more beautiful to me now. Very honest, candid, unapologetic, ... just so incredibly on-point with his insights and thinking. I will always admire him.
When George was talking about bereavement, I can totally relate. My Dad died as a result of a head-on collision in November 2021. I was named the executor of his estate. I have been very busy taking care of all of his financial affairs. So busy that I have had virtually no time to even grieve for him. It is starting to catch up with me, too. I could be at work and, out of the blue, I will just want to sob. Although it may not be pleasant, it is important to allow yourself to FEEL the pain. It is the only way you will be able to heal and move on with your life. Rest in peace, George.
It’s December 2020. As someone who just lost a parent 7 months ago, I’m only now finding out for genuine and truthful George Michael was about grieving a parent’s death. He refused to sugar coat the sadness and the crippling effects on creativity and work.
George’s honesty is incredible. Just listening to him makes me feel comforted and massive gratitude for his wonderful soul ❤ there is no one else like him 🙏
What the actual Fuck! what are all those dislike For! George Michael was an articulate, intelligent, brillant and sweet man! let alone a truly gifted artist of all the time! RIP George you have been loved💕💔❤
I think it fair to say that "dislikes" mean this was not what they came to watch. Their expectation was disappointed. So it is really more a finger pointing at them, than at the video.
The dislikes are there for his views on sexual monogamy, I guess. Which they have a right for, don't they. Regardless of his music, voice and general charm.
What a wonderful soul that was taking too soon. His thinking is spot on. We sure could use more people like him now. Thank you for your music. You sung from your inner core. You are missed. RIP George.
Who else just can't get over the fact that this wonderful, intelligent human being and immensely talented artist is no longer with us? What a loss to the music industry and Humanity 😔
There goes the whole package - intelligent, brilliant artist, great singer and beautiful both inside and out. Enjoyed his music both in concert and on vinyl while he was here with us.
I love your comment. One of the best I've seen about George. Yes, he was the whole package like I've never seen before. And here I am, again, falling in love with a gay man who in this case is not even here anymore. I don't know what to say. What you said, there goes the whole package. I'm sad.
George is a beautiful soul. I say IS because I believe he exists, not on this side of the veil but the other side. He was spot on how he viewed politics and the way the World is changing. In fact, some of his later songs are sooo prophetic, i.e. Praying For Time, Freedom etc. I imagine he's very happy where he is now, with his mum, sister and the love of his life. God Bless you George. You ARE LOVED ❤
George was so predictive of this awful period of time in America right now with racism, bigotry, LGBTQ & women’s rights. We’ve lost so many people before their time. What a kind, compassionate, talented & beautiful man. ❤️❤️
He’s be rolling over his grave to see how worse it’s gotten, even in his own country. I saw a documentary about him that aired on Britain’s Channel 4 about how the tabloid media were trying to out him and it’s revealed at the end that violent attacks against gay and transgendered people have skyrocketed in Britain the last few years, to the point where gay couples there have become afraid to even hold hands in public.
19 years on his words remind us that so little has changed in the world and how always ahead of his time he was in his thinking. His lyrics and words have stood the test of time and ring true, RIP George - Thank you for your honesty.
After the Wham documentary I just start looking for stuff about Andrew and George and came across this interview.. George is very intelligent and very candid in this interview.. Well spoken.. And I just loved him ever since I was a kid
I watch As every night. It's my goodnight lullaby 😴. Thank you Stevie Wonder for writing that beautiful song but I think George and Mary's version crushes.
What an amazing, articulate, beautiful, creative, intelligent and emotionally passionate man. Here for him still in 2020 and missing everything about him. His light was so bright... Rest in Power, sweet George 💖❤️💜
I don''t care about the channel (whatever it is that they've done; I have no idea) - I just thoroughly enjoyed the interview. The interviewer does a better job than most I've seen (well, heard), and George Michael is so very likeable, seemingly genuine and worth listening to. A great conversation.
THIS IS A WONDERFUL GEORGE MICHAEL INTERVIEW ! John Norris is a GREAT INTERVIEWER here. I am not familiar with his collection of other interviews...but I am VERY familiar with George's many interviews during his lifetime. Norris is so respectful and non judgemental of George here and asks smart and deep questions and does NOT interrupt him sharing the beauty and wisdom of who he is/was as a human being. So MANY other interviewers are so judgemental/ "gotcha" ...that you can hear in George's voice inflection how annoyed or bored he is with their lack of professionalism & lack of humanity. John Norris~ Thank You for allowing the ABSOLUTE BEAUTY of George's heart, mind & spirit to show thru this interview. It is a gem. He was SUCH a generous, compassionate, talented & loving kind soul. Miss Yog - Loved him so much ! 💞
Love the interview, George seems so relaxed and happy here, miss him terribly, he was such a gorgeous man, love his sense of humour thanks for sharing, thanks for the music George♥️
George Micheal was not a F-L-O-P, You sold over 100 (126 to exact) million records making him one of the best selling artists in the world, Grammys on this plate including Album of the year. He's Gay Trailblazing Legend...
He was a darling. Such a gorgeous voice and extraordinary talent. I was a young teen in Canada, enjoying his music so much. It’s so sad that he’s gone.
I’ll absolutely love George Michael forever & always continue to listen to his music ever since I discovered him at 4 years old. I just love his character as well. What a wonderful, beautiful, interesting, intelligent, charitable & charismatic man ❤ thank you George for all you gave the world 🙏
Such inner turmoil and pain. George used to say he always believed he’d die young, so I guess he really gave life his best but circumstances made it impossible to go on.
Troubled soul with voice of an angel. So vulnerable and a musical genius. I love you George . Your talent will never be matched. Your music touches my soul. Thank you.

Great interview. George grew into his own man. Didn’t care about pleasing everyone all the time, spoke his mind acted on his instincts. So sad his troubles got him into depressions. Wouldn’t it be great to have him around as an older guy.. RIP George.
I personally do not fully understand homosexuality as I am myself straight. Maybe that is the reason I am no able to fully grasp the whole idea of being attracted to someone who is the same sex as me. Nevertheless I have a lot of respect and admiration for the fact that they found courage to stand up for themselves, to be open about it explaining to people who does not understand. It must be have been very difficult to face all of this especially being a public person. George was so intelligent, charismatic, kind, talented...just like Ricky Martin. They both are great role models for gay community. I believe every human has right to live as they want as long as there is no harm to others.
Fabulous interview. George was very articulate even when he was with WHAM and this interview demonstrates his self awareness and intelligence. What a marvelous man. Missed by millions of people who adored his musicality and charitable generosity.
So true George when my dad passed mum and sisters could not cope. They relied on me and then I crashed, I had no one. you were a wise articulate man. I'm so sorry you had demons. Xjx
An absolute gem of a man and one of the great British singers and songwriters of all time, I feel in many ways underrated, because of the way the media targeted him..its absolutely disgusting when I think back to it, but I believe he was too smart and self aware to let all that bother him truly. George is one of the greats..and you left us with so much amazing music and your wonderful honesty and insights into this mad world..just listen to "praying for time" one of his masterpieces..and as relevant today as it was back in 1990, if not even more so...❤️🕊️
The day George died was a tremendous loss not only musically but as a wonderful human being. He gave over $10M pounds to charities & people in need. Obviously he was a very sensitive man, with a great sense of humor. its just so sad to me how his last years were so hard for him. Alone yet surrounded by so many. RIP you beautiful soul.
It is December 23, 2020. His 4th death anniversary is in 2 days. Last Christmas is playing a lot on the radio. Covid is dominating the news globally. Miss you so much George Michael.
Very good interviewer , and George felt like he could talk honestly and comfortably with him . He was so humble and correct with everything he said . God bless him
As so often I have learned so much about GM after his passing, what I do know is he was so intelligent, interesting, sensitive, hugely talented, I truly regret I never had the opportunity to see him live, his talent and voice shall live on forever 🙌🙏😍
He faced his sexuality. These dislikes may be from men who still haven't.I see men with their wives regularly who are obviously gay and living a lie. They don't fool all the people. It must be very difficult to pretend your life away.
Might be partly the brainwashed people who believe anything printed and told by the tabloid media, so they think Yog was a notorious drug addict, partly people who can't cope with Yog's honesty about men really only pretend.... bla bla bla 😉 and partly homophobics.
I’m a fan of George Michael but they can they have four of the reasons why they dislike the video it could be what the interview were seeing the footage key components that were said were things that wasn’t said you just never know does it mean to have anything against George Michael
George appears to be such a intellectual on expressing his views in just living in the world of today and well spoken his view appears to be live and let such a wonderful artist in so many ways I admire his demeanour may he Rest In Peace

He was such a humble, sweet, open and articulate man, really wore his heart on his sleeve. His passing saddens me still.
George Michael has been asked the most personal questions since the start of his career. Most artists would walk away, shut it down. Not that it's any of our business either... but your honesty, intelligence and beautiful soul is why we love him so........
Intelligent and empathetic man
Just too sensitive for this world. Emparhs are very sensitive souls. Healers, givers and authentic with true authenticity. Such truth and honesty xxx😇😇😇😇
Men with freedom !💜💜💜
His rendition of "The First Time" is incredible. Better than the original.
Such an intelligent and well spoken man, RIP GEORGE! The world has truly lost a gem. Such a shame this video has so many dislikes I quite enjoyed his dialogue, he deserves more respect than that!
mzspargo I agree. People are on a diatribe, but that is irrespective of George.
That may be because the media influenced brain washed masses are not intelligent. Frightening! George is just such a highly intelligent individual who knows how to think and what he is talking about. Always true to himself, ahead of the time and a great pleasure to listen to in ALL his interviews.
It loses gems every day. Do you not know how many people die every day?
Ar Qosa Of course people know that many die every day but that has nothing to do with people liking this interview. I bet the ones who disliked it didn't even watch it and listen to what that intelligent icon George Michael was talking about. He really is a great pleasure to listen to. I would have loved to have conversations with him. He's amazing. And now after I liked that video people still die every day.
they are total knobs,, love george
I could see that the interviewer definitely respected George. His questions weren't silly or repetitive and he listened to what George said. So many interviewers didn't! George had so much style, in every way.
People gave MTV so much heat, but their news department definitely had good, intelligent journalists.
@@RocStarr913Except for Kennedy and look where she wound up.
@@BALD_PAB Oh, absolutely. She really flushed her integrity down the toilet.
Why would you dislike this??? He is being honest and candid. He didn't have to speak about his personal life, but he did. He was an honest and articulate man and it was very kind of him to give us some insight in to his private life. Rest in peace George. I will never forget you!?? 🙏🙏🙏 👼 👼
Probably because there are Americans who don’t like to be told they do not live in the perfect country.
What an intelligent, humble, tactfull, thoughtfull, profound person. Not only my favourite singer of all but a great man. So many of us are lucky to be drawn to him and his light...
What George is saying about US society is so relevant even in 2023. I wish he was still here 😢
he was so ahead of his time. A truly brilliant artist
@@MichaelDavidRitchieI see comments like this on many different videos “ ahead of his time” is that it? Or is that nothing changes?
All these years later, it still hasn’t sunk in to me that our beloved GM isn’t here in person. He had so much love and empathy for his fellow man and I mean that with all sincerity and respect and his loss is almost unreal to digest. His gift of song will continue to touch the hearts and souls of millions around the world for generations to come.
beautiful man in everyway, the most honest singer of this generation RIP
He was a beautiful human being...Shame on ppl who disliked this video..RIP George 😢😢😢😢...watching this interview brings tears to my eyes
Donated millions to charitys through out his life without taking any credit for it. Great man
MILLIONS
Profound. Utterly profound. 😘 God bless you and your sweet mother and grandmother. Thank you, Jane.
wow 8-10 books a week OMG that is an insane amount of informations for a human brain ,yes i do believe that your mom was way head of her time with others cause most of the people never lift book after they finish schools and that kinda amount of knowledge put her to the genius level and its a lonely place really
Intelligent people can't make it not to be depressed when they realize in what world they live.
With more knowledge comes more sorrow...
RIP George
That’s likely part of why Norris regularly interviewed him for the organization.
After what the media did to this man ---"outing" him in that LA bathroom, blasting the headline in international press, honestly im amazed he ever did an interview again. The man was a warrior.
A absolute fighter.
The cop outed him. The report about the arrest was made public within 4-5 hours
@@shadrach6299the arresting officer’s name is MARCELLO RODRIGUEZ. He is still alive according to public records.
You have to feel the pain to move through it. You may never get over it but you will get through it, forever changed.
It’s December 2020. As someone who just lost a parent 7 months ago, I’m only now finding out for genuine and truthful George Michael was about grieving a parent’s death. He refused to sugar coat the sadness and the crippling effects on creativity and work.
I lost my mother last year,I can't stop crying
@@johnangela1933 I'm so sorry for your loss. It will always be a hole in my heart now that my dad is not here anymore
George was SPOT ON in everything he said in this interview! We miss you terribly. What a legacy.❤️
Emotion based religious loons cannot even comprehend articulate intelligent conversation. It infuriates them.
Fuck the dislikers, their loss😜🐣😮
I think it fair to say that "dislikes" mean this was not what they came to watch. Their expectation was disappointed. So it is really more a finger pointing at them, than at the video.
I do
The dislikes are there for his views on sexual monogamy, I guess. Which they have a right for, don't they. Regardless of his music, voice and general charm.
What a wonderful soul that was taking too soon. His thinking is spot on. We sure could use more people like him now. Thank you for your music. You sung from your inner core. You are missed. RIP George.
Good lord he was gorgeous
John Michael He looked like his mum alot.

Absolutely. He was a true angel. I listen to his music all the time, still to this day.
Who else just can't get over the fact that this wonderful, intelligent human being and immensely talented artist is no longer with us? What a loss to the music industry and Humanity 😔
My God, what a beautiful human being. I had forgotten how much I love him and his music.
Good Lord he is so intelligent!! He is as intelligent as he is beautiful!
He was such a wise and articulate person.
Agreed. Well said.
This has to be my all time favourite George interview, George seems very relaxed. I miss you every single day our beautiful man 💜
There goes the whole package - intelligent, brilliant artist, great singer and beautiful both inside and out.
I'm sad.
Agree 💯
He had everything in spades, looks talent personality you name it he had it. Such a humble genuine kind man. We miss you GM
I still cry at the loss of G.M 💛
😘

He aways liked to be interviewed by John Norris. He also said so on Twitter. Their interviews (the Older one, too) are absolutely great ones :-)
What he meant in 24:40 and 28:02

THIS IS A WONDERFUL GEORGE MICHAEL
INTERVIEW !
So MANY other interviewers are so judgemental/ "gotcha"
...that you can hear in George's voice inflection how annoyed or bored he is with their lack of professionalism & lack of humanity. John Norris~ Thank You for allowing the ABSOLUTE BEAUTY of George's heart, mind & spirit to show thru this interview. It is a gem. He was SUCH a generous, compassionate, talented & loving kind soul. Miss Yog - Loved him so much ! 💞
Love the interview, George seems so relaxed and happy here, miss him terribly, he was such a gorgeous man, love his sense of humour thanks for sharing, thanks for the music George♥️
despite questions being like an interrogation, i felt George's replies were some of his most open, interesting and honest in interviews i've seen.
George Micheal was not a F-L-O-P, You sold over 100 (126 to exact) million records making him one of the best selling artists in the world, Grammys on this plate including Album of the year. He's Gay Trailblazing Legend...

He knew he wasn’t an F-L-O-P. He was making a very witty joke! On top of everything else, GM, at his best, had a wicked sense of humor.

What did George Michael do wrong, why are the dislikes higher than the likes. The poor man died
Homophobia
Simple. Some people are cruel.
He faced his sexuality. These dislikes may be from men who still haven't.I see men with their wives regularly who are obviously gay and living a lie. They don't fool all the people.
It must be very difficult to pretend your life away.
The mind boggles....
Might be partly the brainwashed people who believe anything printed and told by the tabloid media, so they think Yog was a notorious drug addict, partly people who can't cope with Yog's honesty about men really only pretend.... bla bla bla 😉 and partly homophobics.
He was the best singer the UK ever had. There are many close, but he was our best vocalist and a kind, kind, soul.
Gorgeous George! Why so many dislikes? He was a brilliant and handsome man! Thanks for posting.
