    Mato I would like to personally thank you for all of the hard work you do and your expert videos. Because of your effort I am playing on Lichess against the computer on level 2 AI. Starting to get somewhat consistent on beating the computer. I started playing chess after a 40 year absence. You are a legend in our house and my favorite saying is "what would you do in this situation?" I agree with Schutzstafell you are awesome! God Bless you Mato*

    It depends on the position, Mato also showed some games where one side is down very much material, but mates the enemy king. They resign when game is lost. If there is a forced mate in 3 or something, there is no need to play until checkmate.

    Magnus is brilliant. Just mind blowing to see him convert his space advantage into a win. I just love how every piece is carefully moved around to be in the right place at the right time.

    Well obviously at this level there is no chance to outplay your opponent being a piece down,sometimes even a pawn is winning.This tournament showed some very fantastic games that prove this words,like Nakamura-Kramnik(Kramnik won being a pawn up)or Mcshane-Polgar(Judit won a clean piece and Mcshane resigned).Well,anyway,they really know what they are doing.

      Maybe it's like...If blacks did not tried to defend d6, by wasting a move on a6. Then white bishop on d6, bishop takes bishop, queen takes bishop that could be followed by white pawn on e5 threatening the knight?

    The reason for the resign is obvious, it had nothing to do with the material disadvantage. Its simply a losing position regardless of how she would have played it, she realized it and resigned. As Mato points out if she takes the marching pawn he wins the knight outright and achieves a mating pattern. Is she doesn't take the pawn it marches and the same result different piece. Either way its gg Carlson.

    At 8:35, what about WQueen to C3 Check, then Queen to D4, and after that, Queen takes on D4 Checkmate? I'm still a beginner so don't laugh if those moves are incoherent.

      You're not listening. it wasn't played. If you listen closely, mato said "if" (supposedly if judit polgar moves that way it will be too bad, since they know that ahead of you can imagine they haven't done that). As you can see the grandmaster j.polgar move the real game at 8:54

    • @Enigmaprince
      @Enigmaprince 8 лет назад

      u misunderstood my comment. I was only adding a response to what could have been done to prevent the checkmate he was (fugiapple) suggesting. The c3 check is easily blocked by pawn e5!

    chess isn't like, say, tennis where if you play perfectly you can come back from any disadvantage no matter how good your opponent is. in chess if you have a big disadvantage, even with perfect play your opponent can still beat you with merely decent moves. the only way you will win is if your opponent makes a big blunder which is extremely rare at his level.
    you can test by playing against an engine in an ending with a rook up or something, you should win even if the engine is rated 3300+

    sir mato what magnus carlsen can be proud of is that he was born gifted with a mind brilliant for chess and no other else. Judith and her sisters were not born gifted but trained at an early age by their psychologist father who believed that one of ordinary birth can be trained to become brilliant on a particular activity. Judith gave a hard time for the prodigy to win over her this shows that judith ca be able to beat carlsen. How about Tal he was not born a prodigy but he trained himself untill he became very very good in chess. Sir what is your estimate if Tal and carlsen will play can Tal be able to win even one game against the prodigy?

    • @tobysmith3679
      @tobysmith3679 10 лет назад +1

      I don't think it's fair to say Judit wasn't born with a brilliant mind, she was (and I think still is) the youngest person ever to become a GM (13yo?).

      What has fairness to do with it?
      Both if her level of chess was achieved at birth or teached, what does it matter? Why would be the one method be better or worse than the other?
